Too realistic for its own good. A bunch of small things made the experience too frustrating.

I came from playing World in Conflict and was seeking something a tad more realistic, or at least something where skirmish AI didn't suck. So I stumble upon wargame and delved right in. This game gets the big picture right so lets get the bad stuff out of the way:

Cons:
-Graphics and sound are a bit sub-par for this day and age. Not bad at all by any means, but not good either.
-No saved replays. Kind of disappointing I cant watch tanks blow up because I'm too busy commanding units
-Terrible tutorials. Everyone should expect to restart a campaign a couple times
-Win conditions need a little adjustment. Even if you push the enemy out of every deployment zone by the end of the day the battle will continue because they were hiding a command unit in the corner of the map somewhere.
-Too realistic for its own good. Some people will appreciate this, but it doesnt always make for a fun game.

Other than the above this game is great. Anyone that can look past these issues and looking for a realistic modern warfare strategy game will enjoy this game. I want to elaborate on the last 2 since those were the bigger issues for me. When I'm talking about realism, I'm talking about stuff like the enemy helicopters can shoot farther than my AA can. The campaigns give you predetermined battalions, so you cant hand pick your units. When my entire battalion has to fight a multi-day battle with only 8 AA that gets blown up before they can even shoot, you can see how this gets frustrating. Cant use my planes becaue they have AA too. Ok, so lets bum rush them with AA, tanks, some infantry in a nearby forest, and a couple other vehicles just cause. well once the single helicopter took out my 3 AA, my entire army was burnt toast. Ok so lets try a lure tactic. Nope that didnt work. Ok lets stick with infantry hidden in forest and urban areas, nope that didnt work either. sigh...

The game also uses deployment zones, you can only deploy units from certain zones on the outside of the map or else you are stuck with what you have. Makes sense, I like it. But the only way to win is to kill a certain amount of enemies, or destroy all of their command vehicles. even if they do not control a single zone when the timer goes out the battle will continue the next day. its like having a realistic game with unrealistic win conditions. It forces you to do things you normally wouldnt do. "omg the day is almost over, I'm only a few points from winning this battle, CHARGE!!! AMBUSH!!! CRAP!!!" When really you just would've contained them and waited until the next day to crush them. Plus most of the time when you beat an army they just retreat and you have to deal with them again just in a weakened state. since some battles can last multiple days, even if you play the outlast game they wont retreat when morale hits zero you have to kill them, and both sides morale decreases at the same rate in a "draw" (its either draw, victory, defeat, no scale between), and campaigns usually have a time limit this leads to another frustrating experience.

This game has a lot of potential. The last 2 issues killed it for me, but some will greatly enjoy the realism. I'm not going to give the game a bad score because it didnt click with me. Hoping for a sequel
