A long fan of the Wallace and Gromit IP, I was inspired to get this game after looking into Telltale Games upon the recent release of their Back to the Future game. New to console gaming, I loaded up on MS points and decided that a Wallace and Gromit game was pretty low risk download.

I'm not quite done with the game and I find myself a bit addicted to it. It is a classic point and click adventure, but the charm is undeniable. Any casual gamer or fan of the Aardman clay duo should jump at the chance to purchase this game, even though it is priced a bit steep at $10 (I'm a bit cheap, so a 2-3 hour game for $10 seems a bit much, but I'm not disappointed).

The graphics are not bad, an easily live up to Wallace and Gromit's original video, not so much with the recent feature film. You can see the fingerprints on the models, and Telltale did put a good effort into getting the look and feel right.

The controls for the XBOX are not fantastic, but the do the job and aren't what I would consider frustrating. It is clear that the game was created for PC first, then ported over though.

Gameplay is solid. Point and click games typically feature puzzles and the need to search for specific objects to solve them, and this is nothing different. There is even a map you can pick up to transport you instantly to one of the three main locations in the game. Hints can be found on the Telltale website if you get stuck, which came in handy a few times for me when I had no idea on how to progress. [A tip for XBOX users, use the "Y" button; it shows you what you can "click" on!]

The story is on par with any of the classic Wallace and Gromit adventures, and truly feels like you are participating in a new episode. The plot with the bumblebees is pretty funny and witty, and I hope the other three adventures are just as good.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to try the demo if you're on the fence about buying the game, it's a good representation of the game itself. We wary of the demo though, as it unfortunately spoils one of the best sequences in the "Fright of the Bumblebees" episode. If you find yourself sold on getting the episode, stop playing the demo, or perhaps you should consider purchasing the next episode if you did enjoy the demo [and played all of it]. If the demo didn't spoil the ending, I would have given this game an 8.0, but I felt a bit cheated that they used the best part to get me to buy it (that's common practice for movie trailers, but not acceptable for games).

All in all, a decent game that does the series justice, and provides a few more hours of fun for those looking to see more from a classic IP. I expect to check out one more episode, but I probably won't go for the whole set of four unless they lower the price in the future.
