A fun arcade-style tennis game.

Dreamcast game was a port of an arcade game) was to be ported to the PC I was pretty excited. I find that Tennis games are an underdone and underappreciated genre of sports games even though many thoroughly enjoyable and well done games have featured tennis. Mario Tennis, Mario Power Tennis, and Top Spin Tennis are all great games. Though a little dated, Virtua Tennis fits right at home with these titles.

It is basically the same game as the arcade version in which you take on different players each getting more difficult as you progress. This part of the game is quite short and can be completed easily (I remember beating it in the arcade on a single credit). The meat of the game seams to be in “world stage” in which you complete various challenges in order to earn credits for unlockables. This portion of the game is longer and actually quite fun. I would have to say the best part of the game is playing over lan with a friend. It’s a simple gameplay mechanic that’s great for any skill level; moreover, it’s a great game to play with people who don’t normally game a lot. I would have to say that I enjoyed the Dreamcast version a little more because an arcade-style game like this one was more enjoyable on the couch with a big-screen TV and playing your friends in the same room. However, if you couldn’t get your hands on that one, the PC version is definitely worth it and just as good. Also as a bonus, you get treated to the higher resolutions and better graphics that the PC is capable of. Suprisingly, the keyboard control scheme is integrated well and there is no need for a gamepad if you don't have one.
