Titanfall: Frontier’s Edge DLC - Is It Worth It?
Is more of a good thing, a good thing? We explore new maps Dig, Haven, and Export while exploring a new daily challenge system and black market.
i would pay another 60$ if they would just fix there servers to act like battlefield 3 and just keep going on forever. could never play the game because 10 minute loading and finding players screens.
Titan fall is fun i wish more people had palyed it on PC. It is the game that soured me on Pre-ordering and season passes. I have all theses maps an no one to play with this sucks. Preorder and season pass bundles arn't worth it
I've said enough times across the internet: This is ten times BETTER than CoD!
CoD is just shit compared to Titanfall. Titanfall's game modes (not even in campaign
mode) actually have meaning. CoD is just mindless *put, put* and never ending
glitching. + This game requires a level of skill, the use of your brain and your
ability to keep calm. Titanfall gives me adrenaline, goosebumps and makes me feel
accomplished/proud when the IMC puts a boot up the Militia's ass. And those
goosebumps are very much like what you expect from Mass Effect, not an FPS. #Titanfall
Fantastic game... I'd rather buy DLC for this than spend 60 bucks on a game that was released a year ago.. "COUGH" And they have the audacity to talk shi*? Ahahaha when your premier console game was released on a previous console just over a year ago, you know you're losing.
To the people who stopped playing it, I highly recommend getting the current update, and getting back into it - try the new game modes and consider the season pass, because frankly, you're missing out on one of this years best games.
Theres a ton of new things - the black market, new burn cards, marked for death - not to mention all the fixes, and performace boost, plus the matchmaking has been fixed. And there seems to be a huge influx of players on XB1 version since the price drop.
And to all the Sony fans who say this game sucks, cut the nonsense, I'm a huge sony fan, and there is no way TF is a bad game at all, its gradually becoming a contender for goty, its that good.
Just play one game of CTF and tell me it's not absolutely brilliant!
I would have said . . . perhaps, but then I played CTF and Hardpoint on Export and Haven. And it was stunning. I was blown away by it. I think attrition does not do this game justice. I think these maps were designed around the objective based modes - and those were some of the best MP matches I've ever played.
I think this hits the nail on the head.
Titanfall was so great because of its gameplay, that maps- much less than in Call of Duty- were a very small element of what made the game great- and it kind of diminishes the value of map packs.
Things like the way the Pilot vs Titan combat mashed well- Titans made you powerful, but didn't make pilot feel helpless; the unique movement of the pilots with parkour; the MOBA-like game elements with the AI; and other icings on the cake such as the epilogue- all came together to make the game interesting.
Map packs don't really enhance any of those things we enjoyed about the game. It's not like CoD where the gameplay is more "move and shoot" and a very large amount of variety must come from map packs.
I would have liked to see more "gameplay content" like adding more interesting mechanics to the AI- like commanding your own squad of spectres. Or even more parkour mechanics, such as being able to do a run into a slide on the ground. The game sold based on good mechanics- it needs to keep improving on those.
I havent played titanfall in a month. i'll get urges to play it here and there, but i just find it to be boring afterwards. idk what it is. hell i still play halo 3, so thats gotta tell you something.
These new maps play like they put a budget B-team on the job. Less inventive, less tactical options, less visually interesting (which is hard, considering how bland the other levels already are). If you love Titanfall, you'll buy it to stay current so that you still get matched into games. If you're not sold on the content-barren wasteland that continues to prove you can get people to pay 60 bucks for just about anything... well, this certainly won't change your mind. In fact, this particular map pack is a good argument against the already money starved approach that this game has taken from day 1.
[Titanfall: Frontier’s Edge DLC - Is It Worth It?]
If you Eat, Sleep and Breath Titanfall, then i'd say YES
If you only play it occasionally, then i'd say save your $$$
Ultimately its all down to personal preference.
Its still by far the best FPS of this Generation (so far) and has changed the way devs look at the FPS genre.
got titanfall on launch for the pc, played it for 2 straight weeks and after that just forgot about it. its fun but very forgetable really.
Titanfall to me feels a lot more like UT 3, the graphics are slightly better, not much, but still....and I have Hawken in my Steam Lib to actually bother paying $60 for a game which doesn't exactly draw you in. Its just like BF series, the characters don't draw you in, and the lack of a credible campaign makes multiplayer even worse. At Least paying the same amount, as much as I hate to, CoD manages to put out a much better campaign.
Its like all other EA titles, add diversity in multiplayer to make them good, but the core mechanics still lags behind making them boring in a considerably short time. Not bothering with this DLC.
Right so i have the seasons pass.
First map pack was awesome... lots of cool parkour areas, fast paced games posible.
This map pack, is a bit of a disappointment, i'd skip it to be honest.
The reviewer said it best himself: If you enjoy Titanfall, yes its worth it.
Dont listen to the Sony guys here that trawl every Xbox article spreading their irrelevant hate.
Why would you listen to a person that obviously doesnt like the Xbox for advice on buying stuff for a system most of them are biased against?
How do we know this game is irrelevant ? Well only 86 comments and most off those are Sevenizz Damage controlling, so Obviously No it is not worth it.
As someone who used to play Gears, halo, COD, and BF competitively, this game completely flipped competitive gaming on it's head. I'm not as excited for the aforementioned sequels now as I am for Titanfall 2. Ignore the haters. Take time to understand the mechanics and you'll see the hype.
i hope they remove the bots and add more players in a match for titanfall 2. respawn needs to give players more content for their money. titanfall is too much money for so little content. even dlc is short, only 3 maps.
old games have crazy amount of maps for free, now you pay for 3 maps. devs greed today is disgusting.
@sg_hobbes just bought it for $10 yesterday for PC :). I never pre-order anything....unless its Halo or FF
Amazingly, people said the maps packs would fragment the community before the game even released.
Result?...they were called haters.
@wolfman8325 depends on if the AR is actually balanced remotely on the same level as the other weapons , cause for awhile after launch (PC) the AR was the dominate weapon with nothing remotely equal to it , typical EA game pretty much making anything other then an AR pointless.....i stopped caring for the game when i noticed that pattern that the AR owned all easily , when it can outgun a shotgun point blank , when it can out gun a sniper at range , then theres stupidity involved with the design. if they actually fixed it i might look at the game again , till then EA can go suck it with TF and their BF games....ever since BF3 we saw this pattern of AR getting this massive buff in range and accuracy that made snipers almost pointless. (note in BF3 a guy took 3 shots to the head / upper torso region and walked it off like it was nothing , hit markers and everything , MORE THEN ONCE and different people ) , that is the EA design to sh** on anything that isnt AR.
@bishop60 Yeah that game got old for me really fast, and this dlc doesn't really entice me to go back either.
@bishop60 lot's of Halo on the way to hopefully remedy your situation!
@thenephariouson yes its a good and solid FPS game but I dunno it kinda lacks something that makes it boring and I think that something is a solid SP campaign or at least a identity. I think if this game came out 4 yeas ago it would have made more impact but with all the Battlefields, CoDs and other FPS out there it just cant compete.
I highly doubt anyone listens to them for anything. They're just upset they can't play one of the best game's to come out this year.
@sonyonly4 Hey look there is more than 86 comments, Dose that make your sweeping ignorant accusation wrong now? ASSuming, makes you look FOOLish.
@sonyonly4 he defends it more than he plays it
I played the halo and the cod series, not to mention TLOU online and ghost recon long ago, and the fact of the matter is that competitive gaming, at least for FPS, is still the same. The modes in titanfall are the same. The core concepts are the same (I literally play this game like I do COD, but with alot more jumping, and I do very well). In fact, camping might be the way to go sometimes in this game, depending on the mode, so it hasn't fixed that. Kind of sick of tired of how this game is called revolutionary when I feel i wasted 67$ after tax. Now, Killzone's changing battlefield, TLOU's tense, slow multiplayer, are what I consider innovative. Not this game
@chris91090 exactly. take note on all the guys here hating this game and watch when Titanfall 2 comes to PS4 how they are all suddenly on the bandwagon loving everything about it.
@Razor10000 well to be fair Titanfall launched with 15 maps which is more than most FPS come with on average.
@Sevenizz *queue crickets* Yeah kinda like Titanfall... nothing but silent lack of interest even with Xbox players =)
@Sevenizz Also have it on PC. It's just not very good. While I'm sure it is easier to just believe all detractors are "just upset they can't play", in truth it's just being panned by people who want more than the shallow trawl through multiplayer tropes that is Titanfall.
Paid map-packs are just going to continue fragmenting the already decaying community. Frankly, Just about every alternative to Titanfall is a better one.
For a significantly better experience, try Hawken or PlanetSide 2.
I have it on PC, and it's totally overrated -_- the magic was gone for me before I reached level 50 (believe I was at lvl 49 when I stopped playing). If you bought the season pass, you've been ripped off, if we haven't all been ripped off already by the 67$ CAD I bought it for
@Sevenizz He's here to offer an opinion, same as everyone else. Back down Xbot, you're just proving yourself an idiot with every desperate reply. People can have different opinions to you, learn to accept it and move on, I'm not telling you to agree with their point of view, I'm just telling you to not be such a child and let them share.
@rjh_24 @sonyonly4 Obviously is feeling regret hence why the constant Damage Control further proof claiming that anyone who has played it clearly hasn't even though it is available on two other platforms and was pretty much thrown away for free with Xbox Ones.
Clearly the game wasn't successful if they had to make a price drop on the bundle and hide the Last Gen version just to get more sales.
@glitch2424 @chris91090 Only killzone I own is Mercenaries. If that is any similar to the others, it's nothing special. TLOU is a weaker version of Gears. It's different in the fact that you can create items during the game, but that game really fails without having a button assigned to take cover. The game feels like a competitive survival game, not a third-person shooter. Not really a problem, but not my cup of tea for online gaming.
Your problem is that you're playing the game like COD. Someone gives you the tools to perform greater actions, but you continue to use the same old "safe" tactics? I can kill in ways I can't in any other game, and that keeps me coming back. Be creative.
@Sevenizz you are too defensive about titanfall. titanfall is awesome but still have alot of space for improvement. what i wrote is my opinion on titanfall and opinions...well are opinions, you don´t have to agree with them, you just have to respect them.
With Xbox players? Do you own an X1? My friend's list lights up with Titanfall and there's never a problem finding a game in any mode.
He's never even played the game so he has no reason for being in a Titanfall DLC thread. He visits Xbox threads to flame about anything Xbox adjacent. Look at his freaking name.
No, he has no need to voice his opinions as he has admitted to never playing the game and based on previous entries in Xbox threads - flames anything Xbox adjacent. This thread is related to Titanfall multiplayer maps so unless he owns the game, has no need to be here.
@b74kd3th I actually have and it is not even the best Game on Xbox One PVZ is 100x better, It is funny how people aren't allowed to be critical of this game if you don't like COD that is fine but if you don't like this game even though it is basically just a barebones version of COD then "You haven't played it" it has been out since March available on 3 platforms and I own a 360 so I can judge this game based on my experience and the facts and the fact is this game is "Multiplayer only" with bots that right there is a fail no matter what you say.
Also another thing for you Xtots (You know since most PC gamers admit this game sucks and it seems like only you lot who desperately cling to this pretty much dead game) If I really want to play this game I can upgrade my PC to do so at a cheaper price then buying an Xbox One but because I have played it I don't wish to do so because this game isn't that good at all so stop with the whole "Jealous Ponies" nonsense this game is not exclusive to Xbox One I can play it tomorrow if I really cared on my 360.
@oflow @Razor10000 Dude, those games started campaign heavy with multiplayer being there as a secondary component for replayability. They have since evolved to being multiplayer heavy and campaign mode taking a back seat. In either case you get games that offer more in terms of variety in comparison to Titanfall. Titanfall is Multiplayer only and thus should offer up a buttload of maps and modes at launch, Sure titanfalls gameplay is amazing for a short while and nothing can touch that rush feeling I got when first playing it, The controls and intuitiveness of Titanfall are its strongpoints, however the game lacks content and becomes too repetitive. Had those giant monsters occasionally wandered in and started destroying everything in site forcing opposing teams to go for bonus monster kills or even work together temporarily it could have struck gold. Titanfall 2 will probably get things right with a genuine campaign and more content because it wont be a rushed product for MS to move consoles.
@sonyonly4 @b74kd3th blah blah blah i know tons of people that play it and enjoy it. I play it everyday and have never had a problem finding matches. If the game was truly irrelevant like you say, they wouldnt keep pushing on content for it.
The question is even if this game is 'average' what does PS4 have thats comparable?
Killzone: Shadowfall? Now thats an example of an irrelevant game.
