never played an MMO, just b/c one hasn't interested me enough to play it & be invested in it... Diablo always looked promising but it just didn't push me enough to invest in it... this has a chance to be extremely promising... hope that it becomes as epic as it is sounding, b/c it might just intrigue me enough to play my 1st, MMO...
I think the storyline sounds TOTALLY BAD @SS :) . I think I've grown out of MMO's where I just click and watch though. I want to be able to move and get out of the way and have gameplay that depends on Real Skill. Take a look at the gameplay in DCUO and the upcoming Tera to see what I mean. This game still looks sweet though.
you can't even begin to compare imo, its a fantasy "unrealistic" setting to a city setting which they probably want to be as realistic as possible. Their worlds apart, and as others mentioned the graphics might stil get updated who knows. The only remark i have atm is that the subway scene seemed to clean currently tbh. Needs a few extra props and stuff to make it more interesting. But yet again, might be unfinished
Oh my, I hope knock-downs are not as frequent in the overall combat system as they are in this footage... Knock-downs suck the fun out of combat for me.
Seriously stop complaining about the graphics and comparing them to WoW. In WoW we see huge background beutiful areas but almost all of this vid they were inside and it was dark so don't go an jump to conclusions. Besides the game doesn't even have a release date and they might upgrade the graphics later. You are counting your chickens before they hatch.
Why is everyone talking about the graphics? It's an MMO. The graphics are not going to be on par with Crysis. Get over it. All those people still play WoW even though it has N64 graphics. The story and gameplay are what make a game enjoyable, and so far this is looking decent.
Like someone already said, this game just feels wrong. Assault rifles and magic in a game... meh not my thing at all. It's stupid. Maybe in a fictional novel it would work well like the dresden files series but ... meh it looks really dumb in a game.
Well the models are aren't amazing but you can't judge it based on that. I mean WoW's graphics/models aren't that good and yet its the most played MMO around today.
wtf are you guys talking about? the character models are lame and outdated? compared to what? these models are easily comparable to newer mmo's such as starwars kotor and guildwars 2... compare these models to wow or similar mmo's and secret world ones look MUCH better! The animation however, is not so great... but the models themselves are fine.
Even if it is pre beta the graphics style for the character models is very lame. Even with improved graphics they won't look very good.
I don't understand how you can do a good dialogue like that with MMO. It just seems like it would take you out of the game.
Wow, we can be enlightened virtual. I wonder if the game makes us take part in Pagan rituals too. If you a Christian you should stay far away from this game....super cool if your a Freemason though.
First few images reminded me of "The Longest Journey" and "Dreamtfall", then the name Tornquist confirmed it. Loved those games and the world he created, so I have some hope here, it's a different genre thou so we'll have to how it develops. Hope it sells well so Tornquist will continue the aforementioned releases.
Why is everyone moaning about the graphics this game isnt even at Beta level yet and the monsters already look awesome.
aside of the lame combat and dialogue animations that are lame....only positive thing is that the monsters are cool
I don't see why everyone's talking about graphics. Are graphics really that great in any of the existing MMORPGs out there? Do people play those for the graphics? If you really wanted amazing graphics you'd play something else.
if you have a brain you realize this is not a finished product and HOPEFULLY it will improve visually unfortunately most people do not have a brain and it is a bad idea to show off this kind of footage for it will spur endless debates like these
Customization & graphics just don't go well when ur trying to get the best out of one or the other. For example look at Spore, It took 9 years to make and the customization is amazing but the graphics suk. I'm hoping that maybe by the time this comes out the creators might focus a little more on graphics, but there are no guarantees when ur going for this deep of customization features. Lets cross our fingers that this goes well.
The original cgi trailers and the concept art that came out were so high quality and amazing! then these show up and i've lost most of my interest. graphics used to not be a high priority for me but i guess i've gotten used to a certain standard in this generation of games and this really doesnt live up to it at all. maybe (hopefully) later, closer to the release (whenever the hell that is), the graphics will have been improved. but unless that happens, despite how i like the story and gameplay, i wont feel like its worth buying
Jeebus these graphics are dated. It looks like they just recycled them all from Dream Fall (which was a great game, admittedly). It's a real shame...given how brilliant the concept art and trailers are. I think my interest in this just went from a 10 to a 4.
@Shellefade1 I can see where you're coming from, but you're overreacting to to a feature that IS a trademark in online games, but makes such little actual difference. A "level" is just a number to represent the skill of the character, it doesn't do anything other than let other players know how advanced a certain character is quickly and easily. Obviously, they're going to still have progression, which was clearly stated, and is the point of MMOs, including this one. Basically, they wouldn't deviate from what is considered normal if they didn't have a plan behind it. On top of that, the game is still TBA, so saying the graphics are poor when they've been working on other things (story, balancing, etc.) and still aren't even close to finished isn't too wise of a decision. I'm looking forward to this game because it seems to have a rich, original story behind some interesting gameplay ideas, and it wouldn't be so bad to try something different for once, would it?
Ultima Online, arguably the first MMORPG, had no levels. They were skills that you worked to improve, and the skills went up as you used them (in %). There more you used your sword, the more your swordsmanship improved. What you used the most every day determined what type of character you were and how strong you could be, how proficient in magic you were, how strong the potions you made could be, etc... and that was awesome! GO Secret World!
Looks interesting, we'll have to see how it turn out a year later. Hopefully they can deliver with the story and content for players.
Let me get this straight. This is a role playing game with a bunch of spells, melee combat and such but there are no levels? Hmmm riiiight.... Pass. If there aren't any character levels there probably wont be any phat l00t either. Was looking forward to this game but meh after hearing about it, it sounds like APB but with Midevil combat lol. Fail game is fail. Going to pass on this. Oh.. Not to mention these are some of the worst graphics I've ever seen on a game being taken seriously.
