Can't wait to play this!

Don't buy this game, it's just a giant cheap rip-off of Mass Effect!

There IS *NO* Research, Base Building, Base Management, Non-Linear maps, Manufacturing, Money Control, HWP/Tanks, or Interceptors.

Oh, and this game is said to have lots of day one DLCs. So enjoy playing an incompleted game.

@PodXCOMDon't read this comment, it's just a giant cheap rip-off of previous, unfounded comments.

There is *NO* value in any of these complaints since the person who wrote this never played the game.

Oh, and btw, you don't have to play it, there's tons of other games out there for you to (hopefully) enjoy, if you are capable of that!

Here's a friendly suggestion that might make you a more pleasant person: try focusing on the stuff you like. The games you actually played and liked, and tell people they should play them. There's really no value in you telling anyone to avoid a game that you have never played..., it only makes you come off as a petty little hater. with no real purpose.

So take that and grow up.

Yes , I can see the cheap knock-off of ME, with the 3 man squad operation and pretty lousy that tanks, research etc are missing too. You mite be better of waiting for the reviews or bargain bin sales or playing Mass Effect 2/3 instead, if haven't already.

Well, I would like this game to try to be a rip-off of X-COM instead. Maybe even X-COM Alliance. Barring that, I would like it to be a rip-off of Dungeon Keeper, or Evil Genius, or Battlezone 2, or Dragon Commander, or Alpha Centauri, or even Terraria. Anything but Gears/Mass Effect.

"There is *NO* value in any of these complaints since the person who wrote this never played the game."

No, I didn't play the game, but I've seen all the videos, previews, and interviews. So I have a good idea of how this game will play.

"and btw, you don't have to play it, there's tons of other games out

Are any of them First-person, Base Building, Strategy games? Or are they the same old, same old go behind cover and shoot things behind cover that I've already played a million times? Just off the top of my head, games like Gears Of War, Killzone 2, Killzone 3, MindJack, F.E.A.R. 3, Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard, Grand Theft Auto 4, Vanquish, Quantum Theory, Binary Domain, BulletStorm, Resistance: Burning Skies, Spec Ops: The Line, Deep Black, Inversion, Syndicate, and Mass Effect.

Let me explane myself, so you have a better understanding:

I was watching this from 2010, hoping they would give justice to the X-COM name. They even said that this 'doesn't look like X-COM, but it will FEEL like X-COM' (want the link?) And I believe them. I've been waiting over 10 years for something like this. Then the videos and interviews came in, and.... (sigh) this game is just one big Gears/Mass Effect rip-off, with the X-COM name slaped on it. In other words, they lied, never cared about X-COM, and is only using this game as a poor allegory (want the link?). What a slap to the face!

So I'm doing this, because I'm sick of them taking a great idea and making it into crap, like with Syndicate. Because this was their one big chance to make something different in the 7th Generation of consoles, and they F***ed it up by making a carbon copy of a popular game.

Am I just embarrassing myself? Sure, but only cause I care deeply for X-COM, and I promise I won't do this again on any other games. Sorry for bugging you.

@Arch-Stanton@PodXCOM Thanks! Sorry that you had to see that.

Hmm, maybe I'll look into Mass Effect 2. Or maybe I'll just watch a walkthrough. If it's that good, then....

@PodXCOM @lonewolf315 This game isn't being made for you personally. There are many, many people out there who enjoy this style of gameplay.

Personally I far prefer the other games you mentioned, but not every game is for me.

This is a very mature and insightful reply, I can't help thinking that you are more personally involved in this game than the every day gamer.I think most of the anger is from cashing in on the Xcom name as most fan boys where hoping for a TB game like the original. The reviews are at best average..Hope you at least earn enough to pay the bills.

Hey, you are entitled to your opinion you know, and everyone has their own tastes. All I’m saying is that some people are really quick to dismiss other people’s work nowadays, even with no hands-on experience at all, and that’s lame. This does not only apply to games btw, but in general, the gamer crowd is pretty up there in terms of low-level trolling.

Whatever you may have thought about the videos and interviews you saw, you overlook the fact that hundreds of people work their collective asses off for a very long time to make every game you play, and to dismiss their work prior to having even played it for a minute is both unfair and, frankly, dickish. The game might not be everything you hoped it would be, it still doesn’t mean it’s going to be crap, and it certainly doesn’t mean that someone other than you might not enjoy it.

You speak about the xcom license as if you cared a lot about it, and I respect and understand that. Of course you want a game bearing the xcom name to live up to your fond memories of the original, I get that and it’s absolutely legitimate. And believe it or not, so does everyone working on the game.

But game development is hard, and long, and costly, and sometimes you have to make tough choices. Sometimes you don’t get everything quite right either, but in the end, most development teams try their best. No one sets out to make a crappy-game!

So, you know, if that one doesn’t do it for you, just play something else. Just let others enjoy this one and make their own minds up about it.
