ofc we can you block against the ranged attacks what the reviewer meant is that we can't do so while eating
@gabsponge: Yeah, I know. I already played and completed the game some week ago. Tom McShea doesn't know what he's talking about. Sure those projectiles could be annoying, but atleast you could block and reflect it. As long as you learned to time it right, you were fine. I agree, even though this game was a bit more combat oriented, it was just as much fun as the previous 2 games, and I can't wait for the next one :)
@b0sse Not only you can, but you have to do it. You even get a trophy for reflecting 100 ranged attacks. If you don't, then you die really easily. From my experience the game is just as fun as th other two, though a bit more difficult.
I totally see the reviewer's point. I mean Call of Duty loses points for being pretty much the same game every year. Oh wait...
Not only you can block ranged attacks but you are actually supposed to reflect them by stopping blocking them at the right moment and this is a one hit kill for almost any ranged enemy.
Great review here. I thought suggesting the easy difficulty was a nice tip on how to get the most out of this game, and i appreciate that gamespot actually utilizes the full ten point scale. A 6.5 is not a bad score by any means, just a recommendation that comes with a few important caveats.
So pretty much if you enjoyed the other Deathspank games you will enjoy this one, yet it gets a 6.5 so that people get mixed feelings about the game.
Despite the score here, as far as I'm concerned, Deathspank is Deathspank. With that in mind, I'm looking forward to this game. Plus, a lot of the criticisms here could be said of the first two games. That's something that Tom McShea really needs to keep in mind when doing his reviews. Especially since the first game got an 8.0 and this got a 6.5 when the only real difference, according to him, is that this is more of the same.
Definitely passing on this. Third installments are supposed to work out the kinks, not make more of them.
Doesn't seem like some other rather well known games are getting docked as much for recycling their series.
Hello Tom, does this game have the spinning blade that made combat and especially bosses to easy in the previous games? It could kill bosses above your level in seconds, in a single spin, and it could even be combined with a fire rune - it was kind of broken really.
loved the first deathspank. Never got to play the 2nd on. I really wanna play this one but there are way too many games coming out this fall. I have no other choice but to put this in the back of the line.
DeathSpank remains one of my favorite characters of recent games. [EDIT] Also, I found the written review to be surprisingly well done. And it's incredibly fun to read it in DeathSpank's voice. [/EDIT]
It may be a recycled game with a pushing difficulty, but that doesn't change the fact that this game has a good game mechanic that works fun and enjoyable. The voice acting is what I love most of this game though. :)
