These weapons, and the use of 3D printers to make guns, are truly disturbing. The app I'd want is one that disables all guns in the area around me. Having the weapon doesn't make the carrier safer, it puts everyone else in danger.

Also, that automatic targeting and firing system just further proves that deer hunting with a rifle isn't a sport. It's slaughter. Real hunting is with a bow and arrow, spear, knife, or a rock. Rifle, that's lazy.

Do you have an statistics or experience to back up your claims? Having used the threat of a firearm in a home break in situation i would argue guns can in fact keep the properly trained carrier safer.

Actual rifle shooting its difficult anyone can tell you that, thats why its a sport the target doesn't really factor in unless its on the move.

@larkin-54
Well, a Bloomberg Business Week article from January 13, 2013 citing a Harvard study writes that, "
Homes with guns are 12 times more likely to have household members or guests killed or injured by the weapon than by an intruder." Additionally, I will use one very basic statistic: 100% of shootings involve a gun. No one is ever shot, be it the shooter or those around them, without having a gun present. Thus, by definition, those around the gun, regardless of who has it, are less safe than those who are not around the gun. That's why I would prefer an application which disarms all weapons within a certain radius (say, 100 yards, just to be safe) than one which arms a single weapon. Bottom line is, if there is no gun, no one gets shot. Yes, there can still be danger, but at least it isn't from something that's entire existence is for single purpose of causing death.

Second, I've shot rifles before, I understand it, but sports require a certain degree of physical exertion or at least of practiced skill and effort. Hunting with a rifle requires walking, crouching and/or standing, looking, flicking a finger, and absolutely anyone can do it successfully in their very first try. Golf, ballroom dancing, bowling, yoga and most heavy labor jobs require more physical exertion and practiced skill, and yet only a couple of these are close to being considered "sports." Hunting with a rifle is as much a sport as drive thru from McDonalds is a homemade meal.

Nukes is what I worry about. Fearful a weapon MEANT as a determent is simply used at all by insane people. With Nukes? NO ONE WINS. PERIOD.

@Kinguard73 If both sides have nukes, no one fights either :P If it wasn't for nukes, the cold war wouldn't have been so "cold" and invading the Japanese mainland in WW2 would have been horrible even compared to the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Their plan was to send huge human waves of civilians at U.S troops until everyone was dead. You really want that? More bloodshed just to get rid of nukes?

@1234die @Kinguard73 Yes, I do. Read Fail Safe. And you'll understand why. Nukes are unimaginably powerful the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs are still killing people today. And modern nukes are hundreds of times more powerful. We need to keep nukes out of the hands of countries that either cannot be trusted to use them solely as a deterrent, or cannot be trusted to keep the nukes out of the hands of terrorist groups.

@noah364 @1234die @Kinguard73 Fact is Nukes are too powerful for ANYONE's hand. US, Russia, China anyone. Why? One stupid jackhole who thinks they will be rewarded after they kill the enemies of their god/mom/dad/son/revenge/girlfriend/their dog will destroy countless lives. You think the US had any idea what it would really do? Sure it ended a war and made the US monsters in the eyes of every country out there. Hell who knows how many involved with the development of the nukes thought they were monsters or outright took their own lives in shame for what occurred.

Nukes are the bane of ALL living things. Friend. foe. animal. plant. it kills without discretion

Warriors of all our nations who had fought on the battlefield knows what taking a life means. But not some nut job pushing a damn button..

Sorry to anyone who didn't appreciate the Dear Hunting footage in this weeks episode. I just used the promotional video for the weapon and I'll be honest I didn't really think that carefully about it before including that section of footage. My apologies to anyone who found it unsettling or offensive.

@cameronrobinson While I understand the importance of field testing, killing 'wilder beasts?' one looked like, for the sake of testing sake was outright cruel. No I doubt they were or going to eat the deer (if any nut case asks…looking at you drwholscool).

This also has nothing to do with supermarket, grocery goods. It was a field test, pure and simple.

This was a field demonstration, not a test. They wouldn't test a gun on live targets, it's asinine to think such a thing. Being that it was a demonstration, there is a high probability the deer was taken in and properly butchered and eaten.

@cameronrobinson We all need to eat food. Blindly accepting meat @ the grocery store & not knowing the process from alive to plate is foolish. As someone who can see both sides I can say the footage you presented was not bad. The animal died in about 5 seconds from a clean shot. Now, If it wasn't a good hit & the animal flopped around & draged its self away, that would probably would have been inappropriate. Good Article for you to do. I think what everyone would like to see are Gel Packs from Mass Effect 1 that INSTANTLY heal you with out any issues, or more crazily Fenix Down from Final Fantasy when your character dies in battle ( and not a cut scene :) ), unless that starts some kind of zombie apocalypse. Keep posting these articles man.

@drwhoiscool @cameronrobinson I agree! And the shot was absolutely perfect. Double lung + heart shot equals rapid death with no unnecessary suffering. Nothing cruel about that segment at all. I wouldn't use it myself as it takes away the fun out of shooting. It takes skill and practice to shoot accurately like that!

all i can say ....is America is 17 trillion in debt and counting.

If YOU can build it....so can your enemy, especially an enemy that is richer than you and not in as much debt.

So i think im more on the terrified side of the arena. It might be cool. But i prefer to see this sht in movies and games, than see a real life enemy own this stuff.

@lpool8 Some Day it will come. The US developed Artillery shells that can dynamically shift them selves the same way as the bullet above listed. Canada now uses those shells in its regular forces all the time, even though they cost a lot more $.

@drwhoiscool @lpool8 how often does canada go to war though? the only time advanced weaponry will be used is during a world war but with UN a WW3 is increably unlikely therefore it will remain 1st world countrys invading 3rd or 2nd... britain may have use if it does end up in war with spain and argentina at the same time but even thats massive IF

The last part of the video was about guns only being able to be used by a specific user, alla MGS4 when you had to unlock any guns you found so Snake could use them even though he didn't have the correct nano machine signature.

@Nev3rtime Hunting isn't about killing, its about feeding your family and controlling the animal population and at the same time, doing it without making the animals suffer more than necessary. A rifle is really good at doing this.

Without hunters, they could multiply out of control and cause famine, disease, mass migration, destruction of their habitat etc...

I don't want them roaming in my streets looking for food and getting ran over, especially bears. Do you?

Have you seen the wild hog problem in the U.S and other countries? Overpopulation ain't a joke.

@Nev3rtime Being @ the top of the food chain means what to you? How do you feel about a barn with a thousand hogs in it crammed between bars on all sides so tight that they cant turn around for their whole lives, then get walked out & shot in the head with a pressured bolt gun? At least the animals in nature have a chance. How about all those innocent carrots that just soak up water from the ground until you RIP them out of their environments tearing their roots & letting them dry up in the sun before chopping off their lungs (photosynthesis) & throwing their dead carcases in a barrel with their neighbors. Either way, you need to live & so you'll eat what is prepared for you. Our planet is over populated. I can't imagine what it will be like in 75-100 years. Then again I'll be senile, crap my pants & pinching all the nurses butts all day in an death preparation old folks home.
