...I really hope that every person on here who is complaining that they showed a deer being shot is:

A. a vegetarian, and

B. also refuses to watch any movie or play any game that shows people being shot...

didn't like how much of this crappy animal hunting you featured in this show.

I bet those hunters feel like real man now that 4 of them worked together to snipe a poor un-suspected deer with a aim-assisting next-gen rifle.

Let's see how brave they are when other snipers use them as target practice.

smartphone app security for guns? SMH. Really shouldnt've done that Yardarm. Either its a unique user identifier or whats the point.

But yeah, cringe on the deer killings. Could've gotten some target range footage instead. After Fast Food Nation its kinda hard to watch.

I hate the 'bullseye'X marker' from resistance, and I was sad to see it pop up in the story mode of black ops 2, Bioshock infinite, and GTAV with no option of turning it off. Are modern gamers that stupid? That should be your next video.

Oh wow, like we need better weapons in real life. You know what: The people using weapons won`t get smarter even if their weapons do.

Actually, while conceptually similar, real-life "smart bullets" will never be a functional match to current video-game equivalents. While they'd be an amazing boon for snipers trying to make 1000m+ shots, in order for a guidance system to be effective at short/mid-range, the projectile would have to have huge fins that could withstand outrageously large drag forces without failing, and it would lose velocity and lethality far too quickly to be useful.

Here in Texas it seems every mentally unstable person has a firearm collection and a concealed handgun permit. It's not the best solution but I suppose a technology that can help professional law enforcement dispatch these wacos out of existence with a bit less danger to the innocent public is some improvement.

Also, I agree with those who have voiced displeasure at the animal snuff clips. It wasn't cool nor was it even related to the authors point. It looked to me like a lazy attempt to generate controversy and additional discussion.

You are 1,000,000 years retarded for showing a deer being killed just to make this stupid video, couldnt you simply use a manekiin or some non living target? I used to like this website.

@SaintsRowLA Its not ad hominem attack, Im not disqualifying what he is saying about weapons, Im criticizing the methods used to show something that as I see it, its not worth watching. If he apologized then apologies accepted, nevertheless the damage was done to the reputation this website had to me.

Btw, life is already fun and good, I hope people realize about this without the help of others.

Thank you for your observation tho.

Good Show.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. I remember the guy who made the game said the technology in the game was based on stuff in development in real life.

Future Weapons hosted by Richard "Mach" Machowicz and

Lock 'N Load with R. Lee Ermey

are good shows about weapons technology.

Saints Row 3 and Saints Row 4 are good games with some comical "future fantasy" weapons.

I would like to hear about the possibility of laser blades. Of course, lightsabers come to mind, but I am thinking of the tech required to make such a thing happen. I am thinking of something similar to industrial laser cutters. I watched a How It's Made video on them, and found it interesting how a powerful laser is directed into a chamber that contains the beam with special mirrors and lets it build up.

I recall hearing that some students somewhere built a miniature and simplified version of this tech but exposed the beam, thereby allowing them to cut a soda can with ease.

So I'm thinking of a laser cutter with the beam exposed. How much power would that take? How heavy would such a thing be? What kind of heat would the mirrors have to withstand?

Those animal killing demonstrations were gross, especially the grinning "hunters," who seem to be thrilled at killing something with absolutely no skill involved.

@dmdavenport They were gross in what way? The corpses weren't left there to rot and they weren't tortured. Killing animals in a slaughter house takes no "skill", but I bet you don't think about that when you're gobbling down those cheeseburgers.

@Damascuss @dmdavenport

It was gross because the hunters obviously got a kick (the grinning) out of killing the animals at long range with a ridiculous weapon.

Who cares what happened to the corpses - animals are not meant to be targets just so some guys can get their rocks off killing them.

Actually, I do think about how and which animals are used for human consumption, and that's why I no longer eat beef or pork. If you've ever seen what happens in a slaughter house, you won't eat them either.

@dmdavenport @Damascuss I see where you're coming from to an extent, but drawing the line at beef/pork is a bit silly - chickens are treated far worse for the most part.

The only people who have a leg to stand on in the anti-hunting argument are full vegetarians/vegans - as they are clearly deciding to not partake in eating meat at all. I guarantee you that those hunters (unfair weapon or not - even though the argument could be made that an accurate, high powered rifle is the MOST humane way to kill an animal) respect and care more about those deer than you have ever cared about any of the 10+ assorted chickens who were mulched up for your McNugget meal.

@Damascuss @dmdavenport You're right, factory farm slaughterhouses are disgusting and inhumane, and if anything hunting for your own game is much more credible. But I agree with what the other guy said above. Watching animals get maimed and killed is never easy to watch for me either, and the way they just casually throw in those clips to show off what rifles can do today is kind of disturbing. That technology is used to kill people too.

Call me soft or whatever but just thinking about stuff like that makes me kind of sick.

I think it's a little scary just as a knee-jerk reaction but at the same time I can definitely see the logic in the whole "who you miss" deal. At the end of the day if more precise, high-tech weaponry means less casualties, particularly non-combatant casualties, it's only a good thing. War and conflict are just a reality of human society and aren't going away, but any way we can make them less catastrophic is beneficial in my book.

Might be a little scarier if tech like this became easily available to criminals and such.

I'm a member of the military and I appreciate the sentiment about weapons tech not being about "who you hit", but rather "who you miss". It's all "ugly" technology, but the question of whether or not we should have it, is the larger question of whether or not we should have war in the first place. The answer to that is no, but we seem to anyways, and whether I like it or not, my friends have to fight. Anything that can help keep their aim true, and keep the lives of friendlies/civilians out of the conflict, will save more lives than they will take. I'm a medic and the last thing in the world I want to ever have to do is treat a bullet wound on a child, that was fired from a Canadian weapon, this tech may help insure I never have to do that.

@grey_fox1984 Indeed, thank you for your comment and your service.

I am a tad conflicted over whether I like this new technology or not. On the one hand, I don't like the idea of war becoming more "civilized" so that the horror of it is lessened, but on the other hand, the horror of war hasn't prevented those who wanted it from having it. So I will say that this technology is better than not having it.

Great... now even people with shitty shots can kill things. Cool in a game or a film, not so much in real life, boys with their f**kin' toys.

The only guns I'd love to see in real life are the Portal gun, I'd have so much friggin fun with this it boggles the mind =)

And things like a liquid nitrogen gun or lava gun from Ratchet & Clank games =P

I would prefer that bouncing bullets gun in saints row 4(forgot what it's called). Could save money on the amount of bullets used to take down multiple enemies. Then again there has to be a way to control where it bounces so that it doesn't kill you or your allies. Still would be fun to watch though.

Obviously I'd like a gravity gun. I think that goes without saying. I'd also like repulsors. I WANT AN IRON MAN SUIT DAMMIT!

While I appreciate the science and engineering that goes into the creation of these, I think anything that make guns easier to use cannot be a good thing.

@ThePlantain Headshots aren't as lethal as you think. Congress member Gabby Giffords was shot in the forehead by a psycho in Arizona and is on the road to a full recovery. The heart shot causes cardiovascular cavitation. The brain blacks out within seconds due to a lack of oxygen. If something must be killed it's probably the quickest and most humane.
