PlayStation Plus Free Games of February
We break down February's free offerings for PlayStation Plus users, because some things in life ARE free.
I paid 20 bucks for my ps+ year sub, so technically, it already paid itself. I'm excited to try outlast, glad I didn't buy it on steam for all the months it been on there. :3 People complaining about free games need to see what the xboxone is offering, and the fact its UI is supposedly not as good as 360 to even the major fans. But I do have to ask why the ps3 is getting two titles (even the vita got 2!) and the ps4 only one? You want the ps4 sold don't you sony? Giving people better values on a cheaper system and free internet seems not terribly smart imo. Though both consoles have had a snail pace start, with the exclusives not being that good. And yeah 50 bucks a month for ps4 while its free on ps3 does seem to be a step backwards. I suppose if they dish out a free game every month and maybe start making the games it gives to the ps4 better or more often than ps3 so it makes it worth purchasing the more expensive system with paying internet worth it. My two cents anyway. Also a mini rant. Making this account took 6 attempts because the retarded prove your human game thing was buggy as shit. Get your shit together gamespot. >.>
It feels like PS+ should be free on PS4 till they get some better free games... PS3 has had some good games available the last couple months and we got Resogun and Outlast. Just seems backwards a little i guess wish it would of stayed like it was a little i enjoyed playing free and had no problems not getting the free games.
So I recently bought PS + and for some reason Street Fighter X Tekken isn't showing up as free. Anyone else have this problem?
i was as against the ps4 going paid subscription as everyone else....but i still have my PS3 and have got so many games to play in the last couple months that i have kind of went from anger to frustration i don't have the time to play them all before more come out. still sucks we have to pay...but this is an ok trade off. and they are not trash games...these have been games i actually planned on purchasing at some point but now get to download thanks to sony. also games i would have never even tried otherwise...such as don't starve or xcom.
can I download the PS3 games on my PS4? Or is OUTLAST the only game available for me to download on my PS4?
Metro: Last Light; and
Payday 2; Remember Me
Street Fighter X Tekken; and
Modnation Racers: Road Trip
i don´t like shooters that mush but my prev favorite was stalker..now metro
everything is great but the amazing story nails it for me
keep on saying free games aren’t really free if you have to pay for a
subscription fee. I beg to differ. When you buy a car, TV, or beer, sometimes
you’ll receive: alloys, Blu-ray player, or a bottle opener. You’re adding to
the value of product or service you’re already purchasing. You’re not getting
charged more for that product or service. That value has already been
determined. The value of the PlayStation Plus subscription fee was already
determined before Outlast became a “free exclusive”. If Sony stops putting out free
exclusives, then you’re just paying $50 a year for multiplayer.
People have to pay for the PSN online service so the games that come with it at no additional charge are yes, free. You have to separate the games you have to pay for on PSN to the ones that don't cost anything additional, get over it.
4 months worth of game on PS4 and I've already justified the £40 subscription with the games PSN Plus has given me.
god the "its really not free" crowd is still at it. at least this article is down to 97 ppl. guess we will see it again in march. we, maybe i should say educated ppl, know its not free. lets move on. i love ps plus and even i can call it for what it is, however 50 bucks a year is a good deal, more so with the discounts.
The perks for ps+ are the tits. I paid the 50 bucks for a year of multiplayer on ps4 and then got a shitload of games thrown at me.
I was hesitant to download bioshock infinite because I couldn't get into the first 1 but it is actually pretty good. Solid game so far
@tzolynski The fact that PS4 is getting any new games at all is favor enough to PS4 owners.
They're giving away a brand new title for free on release day every month when they could have just waited a year or so for the games to age and sell a bit before giving them away, which is what I thought would be their plan.
You're complaining about paying for a service (that you should be paying for) because the "several free games your getting every month" don't meet your standards? First World Problems.
@Celestial_Crest tekken hasnt been in the collection for a good while now
@LilRoss2k3 plus gives you alot of free games every month and is well worth the cost. Also Sony had to start charging they have not made a lot of money the last few years, and are tring to sell off their pc division.
@joke_man ps3 doesnt get outlast....
@RoyaleWthCheese PS+ is like Netflix, you kinda rent those game because the day PS+ is over any of the game you downloaded will work. But as long as you maintain your subscription you have unlimited access to whatever is free.
@RoyaleWthCheese Your logical fallacy is that the free games have no impact on whether or not someone subscribes to PSN. By your own admission they "add value" to the subscription. Nothing that is taken away when you stop paying is free. The PSN "free" games cause more sales of the PSN. Same with the free rims with the car purchase.
It's semantics. They could as easily say the PSN subscription price is for the games and the network access is free. Bottom line is you're paying for everything you get on PSN no matter how they choose to format it.
@cyclonebw No, the games you get access to are part of the service you are paying for. I mean, honestly, that's why I paid for PS+ before it was announced you needed it for MP on PS4.
That being said, it is a damned good value and a helluva lot better value than whatever Live Gold gives you (which is more of a rental fee for the xbox since they pretty much gimp most of the xbox unless you pay for it).
@Mr_Mark_Legion Bonuses but not free... Now when either Sony or MS offers games to people who don't have gold or + at absolutely no charge to them... Then these games would be free. The only thing free you get on either system is a Tshirt for your avatar and demos.
@megakick So I take it you consider any game without the DLC is just a demo and not full game? Because while it does not give me access to the DLC, I have gotten plenty of full games from PS+. And aside from the actual store itself (which is weak but I don't even need to punish Sony for that cause they'll lose sales when people can't buy what they want when they want), I have had no real issue with PSN.
@megakick to be fair if u were paying for a demo u wouldnt be given the whole game. you could spit out the other overly used Word rental service.
Boohoo it's not technically free, so ya, there, take that!!! LMFAO
@Ripper_TV If I didn't pay for it, doesn't that make it free? It's tied to my account so long as I have a PS+ subscription, which like Xbox Live I've had for 10 years. Xbox games for gold program, those aren't free either? Because, when I've paid for something for 10 years, and the companies gives me a game without charging me, I don't know what other term to use?
@HowlPendragon Hahaha a brand new game?? are you referring to resogun?? Ya sweet indie title that got really old really fast. Outlast was not new at all its a PC game ported over for us that will give you about 5 hours of gameplay when PS3 owners are getting AAA titles like Bioshock Infinite. Way to not touch on really any of my complaints and just act like a Sony Pony who is just so happy to get Resogun and Outlast for free along with the same online play you get for free on PS3...
@ooblah Easily put im getting fewer and shittier games than PS3 owners are getting along with playing the same multiplayer as people are playing on their PS3's for free.... so if your cool with that then good for you and your first world problems but i dont feel im getting as much as i was with my ps3 and i would like to see you explain to me how i am if you disagree.
I love how you use semantics and claim the other guy is doing the same thing.
And, I don't remember anyone ever saying PSN + doesn't cost money...It's really simple: You pay for a service which gives you games at no additional charge (period). You can question whether there is value in such a service, but the obvious answer is yes.
So, I'm not sure why you're so angry about the semantics in the first place. You're the one saying they're not technically free...As if people don't realize they paid $4/month for games which would cost them 10x that.
The difference is you can keep games with gold if you don't renew. Unfortunately most of the games have been a let down on Gold.
@Mr_Mark_Legion @megakickMore like a subscription service than rental service. Renting implies I am paying per game and I have a very limited time to play it (I don't consider my yearly sub fee a very limited time to play it or the fact that if I keep paying the sub fee I keep getting to play all games I've gotten access to through it).
Kinda like Netflix for games except better in some ways because I can play the games offline and as long as I'm paying I have access to any game I downloaded regardless of if PS+ is still offering it (if Netflix removes a movie you can no longer watch it). Worse in some ways cause Netflix has a larger library you have access to as soon as you join where as you have to build up your library with PS+ as you go (so the longer you have it the bigger your library can be).
@Licurgo I own a XONE and a gaming rig so its not my only means of gaming but i dont own a Vita.... If i were to own a hand held i think it would be the one. I was looking forward to The Order 1886 looks interesting to me but its gonna be awhile before some of the exclusives im looking for come out... Second Son just looks ok to me ill still probably grab it but not at launch.
@tzolynski I understand. Luckily, I kept my PS3 (and bought a Vita), so I get a lot of games every month. I still use my PS3 more than my PS4 though, and this is a little frustrating. I've been thinking about FF XIV. It's one of those games that can keep anyone busy for a while. Anyway, I'm happy with PS+, but I can understand that for PS4 only users this beginning is very slow.
@Licurgo I agree in time i think we will get some decent free games its just tough right now... not a lot to play I was really hoping they would announce some good exclusives for spring/summer but just not much I will grab Second Son and more than likely MLB the show but The order 1886 getting pushed all the way to fall or later was disappointing. Im not trying to bitch but as a consumer who got rid of their PS3 in favor of new gen im just noticing a lot of things i guess. Even if they gave me Killzone for free i wouldnt want to play it cause ive already platinumed the game it was really the only exclusive for the system so i played the shit out of it.... as im sure many did.
@tzolynski @HowlPendragon Well, the VG just came out, so the year old AAA are not available yet. I'm sure that in less than a year we'll see Kill Zone and some of the other launch titles available for PS4. I agree that the collection for PS4 is sad compared to the PS3 or Vita, but I think we have to give it some time.
@HowlPendragon Its not a bitching if your complaints are legitimate and mine are. So if your gonna respond to me and and have a conversation then why not add something that holds some water other than you expected less with your PS4 than your PS3 and your not bitching... Congrats bud. How am a troll because im not jumping for joy about this like you?? You are the little bitch that turns into a fanboy supreme when anyone questions almighty sony so look in the mirror cause i think the troll here is you. I asked someone to explain how its a better value and so far all you came up with is...
@tzolynski Troll on idiot.
Its not acting like a Sony Pony, I just don't whine like a bitch because I know what I got myself into and I know what I'm paying for.
Do a little research before spending your money instead of crying about it on the comments section of an article.
