I'm so glad that Paradox is getting coverage and benefiting from the Steam Machine. They've always been at the cutting edge of trying new things in games including using Linux, so I'm glad to see they're reaping the reward.
This is definitely the biggest thing that makes me excited about Linux gaming, the Steam Controller and the Steam Machines. Civilization, Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, Total War games, all rendered at max settings and streamed at 1080p 60fps to my old laptop upstairs with an HDTV connected to it. Played comfortably from my couch. How much does it cost? Just the controller for me. I already have the PC, the laptop, and the home network.
Wow, I may play my EU 4 again. Haven't played it in ages. Nice video, though.
And btw., check out my gaming blog - http://indigogaming.blogspot.com/
He's a very cool guy. A lot of the developers and publishers interviewed asshole business men but this dude is genuinely likable and seems very honest.
There will be growing pains, but I sincerely hope this succeeds. The thought of having a controller be able to mimic a mouse and keyboard well enough to use it sounds amazing. Being able to relax on the couch and play something like CIV5 makes me smile. I can even imagine people grinding in WOW on the couch eventually, perhaps not raiding, but grinding and farming for sure.
More focused on the potential rather than the potential flaws, that's the outlook to have people!
first things first! I'm very overjoyed by the fact he his playing with my Country Portugal. Best Nation ever at that time.
I sincerely hope no one is playing this on a controller. It's hard enough to do it with K/M with so many things you have to control at the same time. This is probably the silliest idea ever.
@uninspiredcup Because he just talks about the game without sounding like he is trying to get us to buy it.
@emptycupofgames Haha I tried to use my Xbox 360 controller once for WoW. There are simply way too many keys needed and not enough buttons. Even using the bumpers and triggers as shift keys to multiply the d-pad up is not enough and makes it so hard to remember keys when they are three button strikes each.
Steam controller might fare better with more buttons but it will still be tricky.
@doggiezilla Quite enjoyed it tbh, can't wait to play Civ V with that controller :D
@hoplayletsplay Using a controller for EU4 will be fine in singleplayer, since you can pause the game at any time when required to perform multiple things at once, but I'd imagine it would work less well in multiplayer. I know my friends and I get cranky with each other when someone pauses for any length of time, so we decided to just lower the game speed to low when someones got stuff happening, pausing only for serious situations.
@doggiezilla Good for you and is that a good game?
@SteamyPotatoes I just have to be that guy. :P
*Just Windows & Mac OS I believe.
@doggiezilla Just PC & Mac i believe
@doggiezilla yup :)
