Though I'm excited for ACNL, I don't really see anything daring enough to get me. Tell us about the new Fire Emblem!!
Everyone is already familiar with Mario merchandise...Pikmin 3 is the main interesting game here. Let us hope it gets released in July.
Ill tell you why more power is useless in consoles. Current Gen of HDTVs are too weak to display the lvl of resolution needed to actually make use of that much power, hell even games from 2011 will look better on PC than any ps4 game on console for the sole fact that the TV wont display it in the High res that PC can. WiiU took the right turn making it about the hardware of the controler to make it fun, the problem is that developers need the games to be multiplatform to make profit thats wht its better to make games for ps4/xbox720 than any wii-U game.. regardless of how much better of a game they could make in the wii-U
Game Gear?? Whoo(!).
When are we going to get SNES games on Virtual Console for 3DS? Nintendo really need to up support for their online store.
That Kung Fu game, YES. Not that its a must have, but that it sets potential to actuality. This is the Wii U gamepad being put to proper use. Great job Nintendo.
Even with these comments, Nintendo's STILL doing the best in the "console war" atm. They got reserves, and the 3DS is doing so good it might as well be Nintendo's main console right now. I'll bide my time till the Wii U gets some more muscle.
This is too painful to watch. Why not get an English speaking Executive to present? Reggie? Nintendo fail.
sony and Microsoft are moving too fast developers are only just now able to take full advantage of the current gen systems they need to put the new consoles on the back burner and stop trying to suck every wallet they see dry
new sonic, luigi , and plikmin !!. this will save Nintendo for sure!!! I am very excited!!!! god praise Nintendo. Mario i love you!!! <<== This is a fanboy talking. Actually its all bulls**t
nintendo is in agony and seems a lot of people have no fucking ideea about what to do... is like they are stuck with 30 years in the past.
WE ARE FUKING BORED WITH MARIO AND ALL THAT SHIT , CAN'T YOU THINK OF SOMETHING ELSE ?
This isn't necessarily proof they don't have anything new to show. While I am disappointed with the presentation, I don't think it's a wise idea to show off anything to "WOW!" people just yet. They need to save it for E3, the big question is if they really do have the killer titles to show. No one really knows, but the next two months will be the deciding factor if the Wii U will really work out or not.
"Ill tell you why more power is useless in consoles."
Once again, another delusional fanboy. The more power a console has, the better games can get. That means it can use Direct X 11 effects such as ambient occlusion, tessellation, anti-aliasing, post-processing, mip-mapping, etc.
Also, the fact that the Wii U has an awesome graphics card but a terrible CPU is evident in Lego City Undercover. While the textures are nice, the game itself suffers from serious slowdown / loading issues, which is directly related to its "power." LC is an open-world game that requires lots of computing power. Resolution is ONLY one part of the puzzle. You are just too stupid to realize the significance of Nintendo having a Power PC 750.
resolutions are not the only thing that requires graphic processing power
do you think that a computer that runs lowest setting metro in 1080p is the same with one that runs it on max settings in 1080p?
ever hear about a little thing called anti aliasing? tessellation? post processing effects? anisotropic filtering?
everything requires processing power. and if you think the only thing that requires processing power is simple screen size, you really need to do some homework. or maybe this is just another one of those delusional excuses of why the Wii U isn't a failure, and you are just trying to convince yourself with your own bulls**t, and in that case, I just pity you.
@Killingjoke_666 Perhaps you would like to demonstrate your Japanese for us?
Stop excusing Wii U sales by coming with 3DS arguments.
3DS is NOT a console and it never was nor will ever be. If thats all you have to say ( Nintendo winning console war because of 3DS ) then ... no offense , but you remind me of a fanboy. Face the reality ..
By that logic Sony is the winner of current console war ( without " " " ) because PS2 still sales !!!! And its a console ... Its that a valid argument to justify PS3 sales... i think not.
@yourmate The internet clearly belongs to Americans. How dare THOSE people use it?
@tinfoil21 it's a Lost Levels expansion for New Super Mario Bros U. Chill
@thead420 Yeah, but don't tell that to the pc owners who have computers capable of graphics that put what the ps4 will do to shame. They're real committed to the lie. How dare Sony put out such a powerful system with a mid level graphic processor from 2009?
@thead420 PSN and XBox Marketplace have been fairly successful and lucrative for game developing companies. It's also brought independent developers to consoles. They have a market now to bring their product to the consumer. Big developers have taken advantage of DLC offerings and it's almost uncommon to see big titles not have DLC. Developers also rely(too heavily in my opinion) on the ability to release update patches after a game is released. The standard and most purchased Wii U has an 8GB Hard Drive. Yes, there is a more expensive model that has a bigger hard drive and you can even buy externals. But, developers know that the 8GB will be the most common and the majority of people won't get an external. So why develop games for a console that has little room for DLC or updates? Why develop a game for a system you can't sell digital copies for?
@ArcoJawa Maybe too much time in front of computer screens.
@diabolik_023 Bored with Mario? Tons of gamers would like to see Mario, Zelda, Metroid, DK and such on their favorite consoles... but not on a Nintendo system. They are not stuck in the past, they just have a very bad marketing plan and a stupid name for this system. The Wii U is not bad, but seriously they need to do something bigger than what they've done so far. No more "side scroller platforming"... enough with this. We need an actual 3D platforming adventure, we need shooters and kart racing games... Well something that will cause some kind of a "WOW factor".
@forcesofhabit Some day I will get a Wii U. In about 6-8 years when I can get it cheap and get Zelda cheap. I'm not spending a lot of money on a Zelda Box.
@forcesofhabit Anyone who expected a "wow" display are completely out of their tree. Every publisher, for the entire history of video games has always saved their A game for holiday season. You will be lucky to see ANYTHING about the coming big titles before July or August. And don't hold your breath on Zelda Wii U. The fact that the Windwaker HD product wasn't even mentione dhere strongly suggests a holiday release. Nintendo is not going to release two Zelda games at the same time. Zelda Wii U wont see the light of day until holiday season 2014.
@forcesofhabit They gonna wrap and wrap until have something!.
@forcesofhabit Nintendo won't be present at E3 this year though.
@DeadlyMustard The N64 was the last Nintendo console I bought, and only to play 3 games: Mario 64, Zelda OoT and Zelda MM, and I got REALLY mad when Nintendo made me spend $30 on a useless Expansion Pack in order to play MM....
(1) PC gaming is the best graphical experience you can have while at home. There is significant empirical evidence which suggests this. So if you're going to drop $300-$400 on a gaming console why not build a gaming PC and actually learn about some of the terms you're regurgitating.
Arguing the limitations of the Wii U compared to other gaming consoles is like arguing how your Honda Civic is faster than the other guy's Hyundai when a Ferrari is being sold down the street for the same price.
(2) The point that @renzorxfx is trying to make is that the Nintendo Wii U offers a different kind of gaming experience and that graphical supremacy is not necessary to give customers a great gaming experience. Different demographics like different things.
For example, I own a PS3. I play all the time but my girlfriend won't touch the thing. Last month I bought a Nintendo Wii U and now I'm telling her to get off the TV for once.
@AzatiS That argument made ZERO sense.
-PS2 isn't this gen.
-3DS is an example because it's CURRENTLY selling VERY WELL and making A TON OF MONEY. Sony has the Vita. How's that going? Awful. They're handheld consoles, but they're still consoles.
-The Wii U is having a slow start just like the 3DS did...and the PS3 (ironic huh?). It's either gonna pick up or slack off, but give it time to get some bigger titles on there before writing off Nintendo for dead (cause trust me, it ain't the first time dudes on this site did that).
@AzatiS Your argument makes even less sense than his...by your logic, we may as well throw in the NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, and Wii's sales. Hell, why don't we throw in GB, GBA, GBC, and DS sales while we are at it? Nintendo has plenty of money, granted...their current lineup for the WiiU is a bit weak, but once that console gets some "legs" it will be fine. Also, I feel the reality of consoles is shifting to a mobile market. Nvidia even recently announced that the next gen of smartphones will be just as powerful, if not more, than the next gen of consoles. It is unfair to judge any company by it's sales of one of their products...look at the big picture
I love the assumption here... nowhere in his comment did @yourmate say AMERICANS. He said English. Saturo Iwata was giving this announcement in English, for all English speaking people... so maybe they (Nintendo) could have helped him a little to push it along a little smoother.
I am sure he gave the same, or a very similar, announcement in Japanese, to Japanese speaking people, and it was smooth and flawless.
@Vinland_Fighter @diabolik_023 I like Mario and Zelda, but they're no longer system sellers. They've recycled the formulas one too many times. However, I'd point that same figure at both SOny and Microsoft as well. Each console has it's cool IPs...but at this point, I don't see anything that makes me go "I've got to have that system" over one of the others.
I very much enjoy nearly all of the Nintendo's first party titles (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, DK) and buy their hardware specifically to play those offerings. Since we're at the beginning of the Wii U console's life, there's no doubt that we'll get some new offerings such as Super Mario Galaxy Universe, Metroid Prime 4, Mario Kart U, etc. We already know that a new Zelda is in the works. I would buy Nintendo hardware for Zelda alone! When you look at the hundreds of thousands of posts in MiiVerse, you can see that those that have bought a Wii U are extremely happy with it. There's something about Nintendo's originality and mood created by their titles that are unlike anything else. As with any new console, it just needs time to grow up.
@grbolivar The expansion pack was the reason that Majora's Mask had a much better draw distance than Ocarina of Time, among other graphical improvements (like Link's character model becoming less blocky [though only somewhat]). Compare Ocarina and Majora's Mask side by side, and it should become noticable (especially in large open areas).
@grbolivar Hate you missed out on all of the other great games on N64 like Paper Mario, Banjo Kazooie, Goldeneye. ect..
@grbolivar Wow, way to contradict the term "useless" when you noted a game that NEEDED it. It's not the only game either.
Perfect Dark (to get the campaign)
Donkey Kong 64
Optional, but recommended:
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
Star Wars Episode I: Racer
007: The World is Not Enough
@AzatiS Wow, where are these likes coming from? This isn't even good business sense.
-Nintendo realizes that their console is dying, and its hardware is too weak to keep up. They go next gen early to keep from getting in some deep financial bs.
-Sony's been losing millions...and they throw more money into the PS3 anyway when they should be focusing on prepping up the PS4 to take over.
Also note: Nintendo isn't anything more than "gaming". Sony makes other hardware besides games. Sony's game division hasn't put up profits IN YEARS. Nintendo as a company HAS. So how are you "winning the console wars" when you still haven't even made one freaking cent from your games division? IN YEARS?
Just keep hating with those 3 D-riders liking everything you type.
@AzatiS The Wii-U is still young, less then a year old. The Ps3 launch was far worse, few games, bare-bones online plus it was $500-600. Yet the Ps3 is doing okay now.
Considering Nintendo hasn't put out any big 1st party games, 3.45 units sold isn't bad. During E3 we'll get a good idea of what games will be coming out and what they look like, excited to see Retro studios secret project.
People should stop jumping to conclusions, and no i don't own a Wii-u because i am never a early adopter of any kind of electronics.
As for the 3DS/Vita not being a console, well its a device built for gaming with online capabilities & apps
Its still a console, just scaled down. Kinda like Desktop vs Laptop.
You are so full of sh*t, wii wasnt abandoned in the last years, ever heard of skyward sword you moron? And whats with all this deep waters crap? The console just launched not that long ago and you are already shouting that the sky is falling. Get some common sense please
Do you even read that i said its NOT a valid argument or not ?... Wii U is in deep ...waters and its a console. 3DS is a handheld. Theres no point to compare apples with oranges.
I dont see where you disagree with me here...
As of the big picture , i saw a company which had MAJOR losses out of its console and as a whole , for more of 8 BILLION in total ( sony ) the last 6 years, supports its console like no other company even as we speak... Full support !!
When Nintendo let Wii die prematurely when at least the last 2 years of its life , support was almost non existant... when Wii sold x2 what PS3 did for example...
So dont talk to me about the big picture and coming with Nintendo as an example... Nintendo was once the pinnacle of gaming with consoles like SNES/NES but thats it.
If Miyamoto ever leave company... oh boy..
