New Silent Hills Demo Scare Compilation
Mary puts on a diaper and gives P.T. a try. She was scared... just a little.
Any idea if the full thing was archived anywhere? I'd love to see the full playthrough of Mary being as scared as ever.
i never get tired of watching this video, her face at 0:13 and her reaction at 1:17 are just priceless
I have to laugh at all of the people who are claiming it's "cheap scares" and not scary. For those who haven't ACTUALLY played it and are just watching the videos, know this: WATCHING it and PLAYING it are two different things. The audio cues and ambiance that occur while playing cannot be fully picked up while watching others play. When you play it yourself directly from the source it is a different experience and your ears (and mind) perceive it differently.
I am a horror game buff and few games have truly chilled me to the core since the days of the old silent hill games and F.E.A.R. 1. This teaser is one of the two games in this decade and era of horror I've played where I have uncontrollably screamed out loud at the top of my lungs (including Outlast). Most other horror games make me just curse or gasp. I watched clips of PT and knew what was going to happen and what occurred in only some of the rooms. Even though I knew what was going to happen, PT still had my heart racing, had me cringing, narrowing my eyes and even closing them at points because the tension was so high.
As far as that "jump scare," it is not set at any particular point in time. The first one does not always occur at the same point and does not happen the same way for everyone, and the ones after that do not either. It depends on how still you are being and how far along in the loop you've gotten. Until it happens, and even after it happens, you have an oppressive atmosphere of a baby crying, a child in a swinging bloody refrigerator screaming in terror, the specter in your ear, eerie background noises and other things going on that trick your mind into thinking your in danger. Honestly, knowing what the jump scare is just makes it even worse because you know what will happen and then you're on pins and needles trying to figure out when she is going to pop up and snap your character's neck but she never does when you think she will.
Isn't that what horror is about? Yes, horror buffs, we know it's "not real", but what is the point of playing a horror game if you're gonna just be the "tough guy/girl" and not be affected by it or become IMMERSED in the atmosphere? That's like watching a comedy show but refusing to find humor in anything or laugh. I don't know about anyone else, but I wish people who never get scared by ANY horror games, particularly ones that receive critical acclaim from both critics and all kinds gamers, would just shut up and stop playing them.
FOR THOSE WHO PLAYED IT (and ONLY those people) who said it "wasn't scary", I'd really like to know what horror games you find scary. Horror IS subjective, yes, but seriously if you don't find anything in this teaser disturbing or creepy and it doesn't phase you, I personally have to question your morality and views on life. And if no other horror game has scared you, make your own horror game or accept that horror is not the genre for you at all. You'll be filled with a lifetime of disappointment and "wasted" money. Seriously...
I think she needs a hug after all that. :P
It's ok, you aren't really going to be eaten by demons. Is this only on PS4 or is it also on PC too?
This game is scary. Been trying to get the ending, but the sounds keep freaking me out. Such a cheap scare -- when that head pops up just in front of us...really gruesome. I play with narrow eyes in anticipation of her head popping up :p
Do people really get that scared that easy? I played PT and yes it has a great atmosphere I did not fine it scary at all, creepy maybe not scary not at all.
Maybe some gamers have never watch scary thing
haha i love watching girls get scared playing horror games....guys would just open their eyes wider or maybe open their mouth without giving out sounds
Nope nope nope.
It's cute when Mary freaks out, but as a 30 year old man i would be crying even more.
The hallway passage looks kinda like the ones in Resident evil 1 remake, if they would make Resident Evil 1 remake into a first-person like this game it would be more scary
Personally I think the fetus in the sink is a bit much. Dead babies - all for the sake of a cheap scare. What's next .....
This sh*t looks like Paranormal Activity, and I bet it have the same stupid story, damn you Kojima, damn you Del Toro, Silent Hill wasn't a first person game, The Room prove it, so f*ck you!
How long do you have to find down the red distorted halls before you find the hole in the wall that was behind the picture? I've been running for 15 min....
@MaP_Hagmen I had a feeling it was just a bunch of pu$$ies pi$$ing their panties.
@MaP_Hagmen Can I ask what do you usually find scary? Any video games you could bring as an example? I'm just curious.
@lnkn52 I didn't think I was going to be able to get the trailer to play until I found out I had to play with a microphone to unlock it. I almost gave up playing it a second time for the photos and the signs. I kept going through the same loop and kept hearing the ghost moan and cry every 3 minutes for about 1 hour. It was so oppressive.
lways adorable to see a cute girl scared in this way, harmless videogame fun. Jess and Zorine get to it. =P
@Jimminyfixit If you play P.T. at the beginning there is a news story playing over the radio about a man that murdered his two children and pregnant wife.
@Jimminyfixit Not really, I think stuff like that is better for a horrific atmosphere. I'd really watch something really messed up than some boring recycled possession garbage.
@Jimminyfixit You obviously haven't played a silent hill game.
@KiriharaZro and actually, Silent Hill 4 was in first person at times and it worked well.
@KiriharaZro Calm down, wait till it's out before you judge the whole thing jeez.
@Mehrdad_blaster It's not artificial. It's a reaction from someone who is more scared than you are playing a horror game. You yourself personally don't react like that from personal experience. That's why it seems artificial. Just because I find someone else's reaction over the top doesn't mean that it's "fake." There are plenty of reactions by actual people that are MUCH worse than hers.
@RussellMartin press R3 when looking.
Seeing this "teaser" its useless to wait, this isn't a Silent Hill, its Kojima/Del Toro version of what THEY THINK a Silent Hill is
@KiriharaZro @hoyholyhoy Still not sure how this isn't a Silent Hill in some people's eyes. From what I perceived, we are playing as the man who killed his family and he's feeling guilty about it, hence why the baby, the little girl in the fridge, and the woman are haunting him and he keeps replaying the same area and the same scenario. His guilt and his choices are coming back to haunt him...
What do YOU think a Silent HIll game is? Seems pretty Silent Hill-ish to me.
How about we wait until we know what the ACTUAL game is going to be like rather than bashing it based on a teaser showing of the technology and the scares they are going for in the final product?
If thats the story then why I want to play it?, you have spoiled it and now does´nt have sense. Where you read that? if Kojima or Del Toro publish that then, again, they just mocked you, SH games twisted our minds in hope for us to discover the truth behind the main character, now that you or them spoiled the story, why someone wish to play it?
thats even worse, Kojima just play with gamers saying "this is not the Silent Hill in which we're working, if you want to see some of the real work well, f*ck you, we dont show you anything until the hype gets real high and you beg us to selling it to you"
@KiriharaZro Wow. Hello everyone! Meet Kirihara Zro, someone who doesn't care to actually read comments they disagree with fully before they decide to discredit them or argue with them.
1) Q: "If that is the story why I want to play it...Where you read that?" A: You need to look up the definitions of PERCEIVED. If you knew the definition you would actually realize it's my opinion and personal thoughts on what I THINK the story for this CONCEPT might be.
2) You seem to have glossed over all of the other comments that mentioned IT ISN'T REPRESENTATIVE OF THE STORY IN THE ACTUAL SILENT HILLS GAME THEY ARE WORKING ON.
3) By all means, do not play it. Or any other horror games for that matter. You'd set the genre back a decade into the terrible all flash and no bang era that happened after Silent Hill 4 came out. Even if they put the obscure things you want into a Silent Hill game you'd still complain about something irrelevant to the final product. You probably hate Outlast too even if you've never played it.
