items can destroy the whole game - shells are to heavy now, other items too, item selection feels stupid for most time.
The game is still not really bad, but it completely doesn't make a difference if you are good or not, its just luck and thats a bit unfair, sure you need to know how to drive but even if you made completely perfect rounds on 1st place it easy could end with 2-3 red sheels a blue shell and or even more that comes in the last round and you may end up on last place after staying 1st place for 90% of the time.
Thats just stupid ...
Well, the 8 power up item thingy isn't new. There was a similar item in Mario Kart 7, called lucky seven afair.
The new weapons are nice, but MarioKart 64 was still the best in the series. Wish they would bring back the spiked shell from that one..Hate the blue shell (that took the spiked shells place) flies over everyones head to go to the first place contender. Was much better when it went along the road and knocked everyone out of the way that was dumb enough to stay infront of it while it was going for the first place driver.
Im excited for this game, if they release a bundle version I will probably pick it up, although I am waiting for E3 to see if they have a new Mario game (Sunshine 2 omg please).
I haven't used my wii u since launch, but once a new zelda is released I'm going to dust it off and grab this, along with the other half dozen games I missed.
If they drop the price to like £150 then I'd pick up a Wii U, but until then it isn't worth the price just for one game.
Because you can totally judge a game before it's even released right?
@Darksimm MarioKart 7 changed the blue shell, in that it flies low and knocks down any racers in its path. If you watch footage of the blue shell in this game, it's doing the same thing.
@jrcast84 you mean a console bundle? yeah there is one , I'd go for a sunshine 2 if Mario can punch when without fludd
@translucent17 mario 3d world? pikmin? wonderful 101? donkey kong? no? nada?
With the Mario Kart 8 bundle, the Wii U is a measly $160. That's like £100 or something. Go get one.
@gajbutler I draw my line at 90 queen's elizabeth's monies
@gajbutler Comments like this frustrate me. Ok so the Wii U anywhere between 250 - 300 dollars, that's still 100 cheaper at least then a PS4, so you can buy a game and the system for the same price. Also it has more game exclusive to it then the PS4 or Xbox one plus it's actually backward compatible! Those games don't interest you then why even bother saying this nonsense! BUY A PS4 or SOMETHING THEN!
@gajbutler And besides, if you buy the bundle of this with MK8 you'll get 2 free accessories(wii remote plus and a wheel controller) plus a free digital game(depends on your region for game choices), no better deal than that imo.
@gajbutlerLook around, look at used, maybe you can find a deal. Not sure about the UK, but for Canada (and probably the US too) there have been some big discounts on WiiU systems and games.
I don't mean official price cuts, but because it's struggled many retailers have had deals to get the stuff out of their stores, especially the Basic (white) version. Maybe 6 months after launch Target had them on sale for $150 CAD. Also have a look at Nintendo's own refurbished, I believe there was a decent deal there recently.
@Celsius765 @jrcast84I saw a bundle for WiiU and MK8 but I didnt see any info on it coming to the U.S. I would be so excited to see a Mario Sunshine 2, the first game was epic.
£ = pounds, you realize. You pretty much double that when converting it to CAD or US dollars so 300 bones isn't a stretch.
I highly doubt you found a WiiU for 150 CAD only 6 months after launch - basic or not. The best deal I've seen was the 32g version with Super Mario & Luigi for 250 around Boxing Day at Future Shop and Mario 3D at Target for 40 bucks. That's when I purchased them and I've been hunting for deals since launch. But 150? No way - not even a refurb went for that.
@abHS4L88 I was just judging it by what I have seen but you are right, it is idiotic to judge a game before it is released. This game does look really cool though and would make me want to get this system, this and the new smash bros.
So by that logic, a reviewer can simply give their review just by watching videos right?
@jrcast84 my reply disappeared but yes there is a bundle for the US
Considering the WiiUs lack of 3rd party support, slow to release software, less HD space, fewer features and power compared to current gen, and light online capabilities - a hundred dollars cheaper is probably not a very good selling point.
@Sevenizz point invalid.... 300 is still less than 400.
@Sevenizz Sorry it was 9 months after launch, confirmed by many people but no I didn't buy one because I already had it from launch.
There have been many killer deals on WiiU hardware and software, all throughout 2013, some shockingly early after launch, and right up to recently. If you think maybe I'm making up stories to bash Nintendo, well unless I do the searching and show you the links and such, I cannot prove otherwise, but I'm not willing to do that :).
Hey Sevenizz, the Mario Kart 8 bundle brings down the price of the Wii U to $160 dollars. And that's as official as it gets.
Smash Brother is a button smash fest for kids? Well, you've proven enough to me that you're completely lacking in brain power.
3D World is MUCH more than just Cat Mario, but again, you don't think so why should I expect you to do anything more than give shallow opinions?
