@marcel1991 Yes. For more information, there is a wonderful and innovative invention called a "search engine". May I recommend Google?

Is there such thing as gaming laptops that good? Price range? For something that plays high end games well if possible.

@ hells_rebelion Yeah, a lot of people out there paying way too much money for PC's, but it's so unnecessary, that's why me & some like me always respond to comments like this, there's so much misinformation out there. We want more people to understand that you can build one for about the price of a console & it will do more & last a good long time (the main thing is to keep the heat down- it kills electronics), & any money you pay over $300 is quickly made up for with free online mp gaming, cheaper games, and a lot of free dlc- like Valve always does for PC. Parents think they're getting their kids something cheaper because they go into Best Buy, see a $300 console & then see a PC and anything meant for gaming pre-built at a store will be way too high, but build it yourself or get a buddy to if you don't know how, just buy them the parts, very cheap that way. The parent gets the console, then later gets nickel'd & dimed for online, paying $60 or more for games, have to pay the majority of the time for dlc/addons when it's often free on PC- like Valve's, not to mention the free mods & awesome gaming communities & dedicated servers where you can boot obnoxious kids, I think xbx would go dead without obnoxious kids! I know ps3's mp is free, but they've been talking about it, it's only a matter of time. Bottomline, you build it yourself, you're still in a ballpark price of a console, can do more, do it cheaper, do it better, & do it a long time.

@Tidal_Abyss Don't get me wrong, I do like computer gaming. Mainly because of the strong community that surrounds each game made for it (homebrew mods, and all that good stuff). I agree, if you do shop around you may find some good deals, then again a big majority of people just end up buying a pre-built one (Namely Alienware because of the super elite cool name lol). You still usually end up spending a good but more for a PC than for a console. Which is some of the reason why console gaming has taken off more than PC.

@hells_rebelion You'd be surprised, if you can find the right deals ordering the parts you can get better than a low end system (a lot better in some cases) for $600. It's all about shopping around finding a deal, you don't have to look forever, but when you come out so much better for less, it's worth it and most people enjoy putting a PC together. It won't however take $1000+ to go 5years. My old XP PC I keep for old school gaming is already over 5 years, it's a mid range system, doesn't have liquid cooling like my Beast here does, and it's over 5 years, all original parts. All it takes is a little up-keep, keep them clean, keep the dust out, it keeps the heat down, and things last. P.S. I'm in my 30's and I've been doing PC gaming since the 80's, it wasn't what it is today, but that's a long time to have the PC love. ;)

@Tidal_Abyss Man I've used a computer since I was 9. I've gamed on a computer since I was 9. (14 years now). I know what it takes to keep up with the games. Just for a lower end gaming computer it takes at least 600$. When a console usually lasts 5+ years for a mere 300$ or less. Now if you wanted to play on low settings yeah you could maybe stretch the longevity of your computer. So unless you're willing to spend 1000+ (Maybe not every 2 years but maybe every 5 years if you're lucky) You're screwed..... The only good thing I can say about computer gaming is when hardware goes bad, they are extremely easy to fix compared to a console.

@hells_rebelion Please tell me you're joking, "The bill racks up when you have to spend 500-$1500 every couple years" - if you're not joking, then you're seriously misinformed. Nobody that knows 'anything' about PC gaming (whether they choose to game that way or not) believes that. It couldn't be further from the truth, I have a high-end gaming PC that I've been using since 2008, NOTHING has had to be changed, and nothing will for a good long while, nothing is even close to stressing my system. Nothing has needed up'ing for a while for most people for the last several years anyways because game requirements haven't moved much because console gaming holds things up. You'll see requirements change when the next-gen consoles come out, until then, things will stay relatively the same. Far as the "500-$1500" that's just ridiculous, I've known people that can build a PC from between $400-$600 to play anything better than a console. Stop drinking the kool-aid and get informed. ;)

This list is as generic and lazy as they get. What about the superb Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit? Medal of Honor for the modern wargamer? CSI Fatal Conspiracy and Jane Jensen's Gray Matter for the adventure fans? Gothic 4 or Risen for the RPG guys? The new Lara Croft? Anyway, do these lists have to contain only the overpriced collector's boxes? What if someone can't shell out the cash for those? And most people who wanted to have classics like StarCraft II and Civ5 should all have it by now. If you think otherwise, you might be very wrong. If you guys only care as much as to list the 8-10 biggest games of the year, even if some of they are from back in January, and do not mention genre games and smaller but sometimes much better indie titles, don't be surprised if even more people will think the PC is dying... I really feel bad about this approach.

@greengold33 Well I do agree with you that the fact that someone owns a pc doesn't make them a gamer or goes to say the industry is doing great however that list precisely explains my point, those are great games and, even though they haven't been released, the customers are eagerly expecting them and most of us will buy perhaps 2 or more of those games. Now you say Star Trek Online is an example of a crappy game ? Well can't comment on that but we're not talking quality here as much as quantity. Specially since that is a more subjective matter (I mean I don't think WoW is a great game at all and yet billions of gamers disagree with me). Congrats on being a pc gamer like myself and just to give you an example of the scene for the PC market the South Koreans have Starcraft 2 as their national sport and host a ton of games a year on different tournaments, here have a look http://www.gomtv.net/2010gslopens3/ and the other 2 expansions haven't been out yet. You don't see Starcraft 2 ported to the consoles now do you ?

hahahaha 1500 ever few years didn't any one tell you best buy isnt the place to buy computers. i built a computer that ran crysis and any game that is own now at max settings and it only cost me around 900. I am 100% sure consoles dont last even near 10 years are u on crack i bet no one has even had a xbox 360 for 5 years. Pc gaming will go on forever blizzard will make sure of that what they own ever major title ever created almost warcraft starcraft diablo and COD and on top of pc games almost always being cheap by 10 bucks is a lot of money

500-1500 $ every couple years.... You don't know how to build a good comp, do you? Or you just love getting ripped off... Compare the price of pc/console games, dude... There are so many games that are awesome and can only be played on the PC... I love having both a PC and a console... Nothing escapes me!

Hells_rebelion
Hells_rebelion

@Fearless62 That is EXACTLY why PC gaming is dying. A new graphics card, more ram, better CPU, more HD space....The bill racks up when you have to spend 500-1500$ every couple years. When a console generally lasts 5-10 years and generally only costs 200-400$.... Consoles are not "Toys" bud. Although I must agree that there are just some games I like WAY better on PC.

Great Video, pretty much got all the good titles. Proof that PC gaming is still going strong. But honestly, I think PC gaming is still going strong primarily because of Blizzard. Starcraft, Warcraft, and Diablo have really kept PC gaming alive. Sure Mass Effect, and Dragon Age are fun on a computer; the graphics look better then any game console! But the average (not everyone) person would still prefer console over PC. Most of these multi-platform games that come to PC are just pirated. (I am a PC gamer though, I prefer PC over console still, even if everyone else is on xbox or ps3)

Great video! I thought GS did a good job covering the major PC releases for this year. Although, hardware stuff can be a little more fleshed out.

Wow. A lot of great titles mentioned here. Being a PC gamer is awesome. Only a tiny handful of games listed were bad games.

@Ronnie_Rim I was being sarcastic! I have an i7 GTX480. You see the part where in brackets I put 'since 2001' that was a joke to say people have been saying PC gaming is dying since 2001 and it still hasn't happened, and never will.

LOL, I already have most of that, I have a mouse VERY similar to that, same brand less buttons, I have the 23" version of the samesung screen they showed (best monitor I've ever had), As for the keyboard... not quite, still using my old Logitech G15. As for the games... i have them all ^_^ Cant wait for the wow Expansion, FOR THE HORDE!!!!! I'm surprised they didn't mention the new AMD CPU that came out recently, that 6 core one, I want one of those! That and no talk about graphics cards? Or epic looking cases? I cant get too picky though. PC gaming is not even close to dieing or slowing down. PC gaming is as strong as ever and will continue to dominate in all ways you can look at it. You think your console game has good graphics? My PC will put you to shame, You think you've got big multiplayer? MMOs own anything you got and EVE online houses more players in a single shard universe than even the biggest wow servers. You think COD is making money? Look at how much Blizzard makes PER MONTH with wow monthly fees? That doesn't include buying the game or their other games. Console gaming is so bad that the PS3 and 360 copied the Wii instead of trying to catch up.

Fearless62
Fearless62

Wow Ya sure the PC is Dying. That's why they release a new $500 Graphic card every other week that cost more then the whole console. Do you really think hardware manufactures would do that if there was no PC game market? Consoles are toys nothing more. The PC is the true way to game. You don't make the game on the console it has to made on the PC in first place. So NO PC!! NO GAMES AT ALL!!! it just not a mindless toy like the consoles. You might have to think when u Play PC games.

PC gaming isn't dying. It's just getting worse and worse. I am a PC gamer and only a PC gamer, mind you.

@srocciso I wasn't pointing out the difference between an average computer and a gaming rig to say that the PC industry was dying. I was justing pointing out to a previous poster that the fact that everyone owns a computer is not necessarily evidence of the PC's success in the gaming industry. Also, I never said that the PC gaming industry was dying (I AM a PC gamer, by the way). The link you provided doesn't add any credibility to your argument because half the games it lists haven't even come out yet. Plus, it lists Star Trek: Online, which is the exact opposite of an good example of PC gaming.

srocciso

@ GreenGold33 Are you insane ? Yeah it's true there's a difference between pcs and a gaming rig but that hardly tells us the pc gaming industry is dying. Just look at the games that are exclusive to the PC, Starcraft 2, WoW, Empire Total War, Crysis, Medieval II total War, Diablo, Starcraft and Starcraft BW and some others but here don't take my word for granted http://skoar.thinkdigit.com/Gaming/Ten-must-have-PC-exclusive-games-in-2010_3876.html as you can see this games ONLY run on the PC and as you clearly pointed out console games get ported to the PC (although for the real pc gamers consoles are dumbed down versions of real games). Clearly you have no idea or don't usually hang around the PC gaming industry. It's like me trying to say consoles are not successful or have great games even though I don't own a console and the last one I had was a 1st gen Wii (gotta love Mario Bros) but I don't I have no idea if the console scene is great or not. But hey to each it's own just don't be making statements without some baking up.

Fallout is probably the worst game I've EVER played........rubbish story, rubbish story, boring slow weak gameplay, bad graphics, just soooo boring, I really dunno what people see in it, but to each their own I guess (ME2 all the way!!!)

@Ronnie_Rim There is a big difference between the average joe with a computer and someone willing to spend a lot of money a gaming computer. Not every computer is automatically suitable to gaming. Besides, it's pretty widely accepted now that the gaming industry is ruled by consoles. That's where developers know they can make their money because their PC ports will just get pirated like crazy.

Ronnie_Rim
Ronnie_Rim

@Couly The PC is dying? Yeah, right. I'm sure almost everyone you know has a PC, and a ton less then that own a console. Also, I'm about 99% sure you're using a PC right now to comment. So no, the PC is not dying but growing bigger every day.
