HA! Is this some kind of joke? My MSI GT780-dx cost half that and I have a better gaming computer. I run Battlefield 3 between high and ultra settings at 40fps.
@ megakick go check similar alienware products, they are much much more fairly priced. Alienware has dropped prices big time in the last few years, you cant even build the aurora desktop for the price alienware is selling it for. For a portable gaming laptop, I think the best bet is the m14x, which has similar specs to this but costs less than 1000.
gt555 is fairly weak graphic card. You will only be able to play Skyrim at medium settings at best http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-555M.41933.0.html Msi has a much better laptop at a much cheaper price here http://www.xoticpc.com/force-16f2012-msi-16f2-preorder-p-3376.html?wconfigure=yes upgrade to the gtx 580m since that is the most strongest single laptop graphic card out right now and quad core if possible http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-580M.56636.0.html If this isn't good enough then desktop is definitely the best option for pc gaming right now
Meh its specs are good for now but unless u have more money than u no what to do with don't get a gaming laptop build a desktop its the only way to do it u cannot upgrade a laptop.
Alienware = too expensive Razer = flashy but breaks Do it your own damn self and you'll even save money.
just what i always wanted, a expensive computer i cant upgrade, and by the looks of it has a pretty poor FPS and no mention of battery life! ugh, no thaks
He'd probably do well selling it in PC World (a large, overpriced store chain in the UK) to people with no knowledge and too much money. However at a tech show like CES he's got no chance of convincing anyone that it's good. I'll bet he pulled the short straw on the Razer stand and all his mates are laughing at him.
If your primary motive for getting a laptop is gaming then why not just go all the way and get a full blown desktop PC with all the works. I mean, if your planning to drop that much money into it.
Good specs for the size but I would never buy one of these. I have a decent gaming PC to indulge myself when it comes to graphics and frame rate. That's something you can get for less that half of what that laptop costs. My own laptop is just powerful enough to play most modern games on medium-high with average fps, depending on the game. That's just to chill in, something I wouldn't use in competitive gaming. If you're serious about gaming (which a gaming laptop implies), you would either buy a chunky gaming laptop with great specs or simply take that 2.800$ and put it in a PC with insane specs and peripherals of your choosing.
holy crud that is expensive....get an alienware, better specs and cheaper, I got my m14x recently for $1600. still there's no match for razer when it comes to pc peripherals
Always good see new kit coming out, but they need to tell the guy on the floor to lay off the verbal diarrhoea.
I think they shouldn't max out all the Firefall graphics options. It's getting a little bit laggy... The specs are good; I would put that to good use TBH, but it's useless if you try to play as it was a high end desktop PC.
@wack_joE Acutally, you do play on high settings. What you 'maybe' wouldn't be able to do is to play on ultra (very high) settings, and I'm not including every game (Crysis 1 would run on ultra with this specs).
Gotta be really desperate to play newer games on the go to pay so much more that an amazing Desktop gaming PC. I can say that I'm disappointed that my laptop probably wouldn't be able to play Skyrim, but I'm definitely not gunna spend anywhere near that much just so I can at least run it...
I liked the touch screen on the bottom left, that's a pretty simple yet great idea. As a gaming laptop however its a clear fail, lusafis518 summed it up perfectly below.
this "gaming laptop" got terrible specs... dual care i7, gtx 550 m.... i mean wtf? u cant even play a decent game on high settings. for that price i want a laptop with nice specs atleast. :P
So the first "true" gaming laptop has a video card slower than any other claimed "gaming" laptop on the market. Seriously, that's a card you put in cheapo sub $800 laptops or put up on the shelf at Best Buy to trick people who don't know anything about video cards. If you doubt it, the framerates from this video should be all the proof you need. I love the concept of the lcd touchpanel and graphical buttons, but unfortunately neither makes sense on the right side. Nobody wants to take their hand off of their mouse to fidget with buttons. If they had gone with the full keyboard customizable concept of the switchblade, I'd be way more into this. Instead they decided on a measly ten buttons on a part of the keyboard a gamer can't comfortably reach with either hand. Barring some amazing proprietary interface software they haven't mentioned yet, I can't see how those buttons can be anything more than a gimmick. And if it makes it so games are somehow easier to play withOUT a mouse, someone at Razer should tell us. For some reason the media is drooling all over this thing, but so far no one has mentioned how the hell you're supposed to utilize all the gadgets when they're in an inaccessible area of the keyboard for gamers. Too bad, I really wanted to like this thing.
Nice for gift FOR me but too expensive to buy. : ) Why DO people need laptops for gaming? ----BEST question
Everything is choppy with this laptop. The game is laggy, the useless little screen is choppy. The marketing guy did a terrible job of selling this product...hahah.
@Torrasque3132 @ProMethUse get ur facts straight. portability is always expensive, hopefully you would realize it by now. uptil now there never was a truly portable gaming laptop. i know of 2 people who sold the asus g73 loptops because they are too heavy, battery drains in 1-2 hours, and they are actualy huge. some people just dont like those weaknesses, especially the battery. LCD screen is awesome, if my friends asks me to play a crap game with them, then i can watch vids rather. i can have game huds moved to there for less clutter. and also razer keyboards and mice are quite expensive aswell. their features never justified the price. my only regret is a 555m wouldve prefered the 560m or 580m. and that the processor is a dual core. if that changes i might get one. and the switchblade is stil a CONCEPT!!! go read its a CONCEPT!!! as is the fiona a CONCEPT!! ie prototype, not close to release. it just got mentioned alongside blade which is being released soon.
i like how in that big price there is not even a SSD..... at least throw a SSD into this for that god forsaken price
So much for superb performance. The FPS on that game can be measured in single digits. Think I'll stick with my desktop for real gaming and my 500 euro laptop for simpler and older stuff on the road, thanks.
y do u need a 2nd little screens for??...open another browser?what?isnt all browser can open alott of tabs?....n also..its overprice no 3dscreen whatsoever...n the guy is like.."uhhh...y hes asking me alot of stuff abt this laptop..ummm...i dont really know how to answer it"...lol..but yeah..the tech looks kinda nice...but useless
