GS News Top 5 - PS4 Doubles Xbox One Sales, Is Titanfall Better On PC?
We give you the latest on new-gen sales, Nvidia releases the GTX 750 Ti, and where can you see hundreds of birds jumping through pipes simultaneously?
by Jess McDonell on
My PC is old but still can handle today's games pretty well:
Q9650 OC'ed @3.6 GHz
MSI P45 NEO3 FR
6 GB DDR2 1066
Palit GTX 460 Platinum Edition OC'ed
Seagate 1TB SSHD
I may have to upgrade, but can't this year... no budget for it.
hd 6870 oc edition
i wanna updrage gpu any suggestions? and do i need to uprade cpu thx
Rampage IV Extreme
840 EVO 250gb
Going to get a Gainward 770 when i have more money
Gigabyte Z87 Motherboard
16 Gb Ram
Waiting for the 880 to release before changing my graphics card
I've been rollin' with the classic GTX 660 Ti. These days, there's nothing a gfx card can't run or would have trouble with and if the 750 Ti is any indication, then the 8 series should be a monster when it hits.
Of course Nvidia will probably hold a good amount of that juice back seeing how the only thing worth it is the strive for 4K or just higher resolutions in general and they will save that for the top cards. Still, I expect to see an 860 or 860 Ti probably equal to or greater than the GTX 680 in it's tier.
In other news, I think MS should've tried to appeal to more gamers from the beginning, but that was never their end goal. Since the Original Xbox, they already had the idea of the Xone in mind. The main vehicle was and is Xbox Live. All they needed was a foot in the door and add large piles of money and gaming was supposed to then be only one part of the entertainment pie. Now they're doing all kinds of damage control to turn that around lol
currently own i7 920 clocked at 4.0ghz and a amd 7970 plus 8gb ddr 3 i already know this will cream titan fall. oh and for all you console owners claiming how expensive it was for this i got the 7970 for 170 pounds and the i7 plus motherboard and ram all inc for another 120 pounds then i bought a good and silent heatsink for 45 pounds .do the math console losers!.
170+`120+50 is only 240 pounds thats the heart and soul of any pc for a mere 240 pounds
of course ps4 is doing better, everyone wants a gaming console not a multimedia center...especially when you can just get one of those multimedia wi-fi/cable boxes for hella cheap now.
FX 8350 @5Ghz
16GB Kingston Beast RAM
The 750Ti looks like it would be a good, cheap Physx card.
high to max settings 1080p 60fps gtx675mx 1gb gddr5 i5 quad core 3.2. The game is optimized really well. Makes ghosts for pc look like a buggy bastard
Is titan fall better on pc? Probably, but its still just another boring looking shooter, & are we saying it will play better with that cheap graphics card? Seems doubtful too me, & even so, you still need the rest of the PC to go with it.
Are the people who play cod really interested in giant robots?
i5 4670k @ 3.40GHz
8 GB DDR3
Obviously the GTX 750 would be a downgrade for me, but even if it wasn't, I wouldn't upgrade as my rig killed in the Titanfall beta.
guess its time to upgrade
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Nvidia GTS 8800
Titanfall beta ran ok on low settings... I hope just upgrading vid card alone will run the game good enough.
lol everyone knew ps4 would double xb1 in sales.better hardware at 100 $ cheaper. everytime i went into gamestop i couldnt find a ps4 but they all seem to have xb1.
Go to the main page and count how many articles have either Microsoft, or Titanfall in them, then tell me gamespot isn't biased lol. Its nearly 80% What if the game isn't as good as they HYPE it up to be? Now tell me Gamespot doesn't get paid to give certain games better reviews.
AMD Phenom II X4 Deneb Black Edition 3.4 GHz
Well above anything Titanfall can through at it.
I see Nvidia is still crying over sony and microsoft going with ATI again this gen.Sorry Nvidia ATI is just better get over it and STFU.Titanfall will sell millions on the Xbox One while it will flop on the PC just like the first Gears of War did. Then respawn will see it was a waste of time putting it on the PC and be an exclusive to the X1 im just calling it now.Dont get me wrong i love PCs i build them.I just hate gaming on them such a step back
16 gig gskill
120 ssd+ 2TB HDD
Can beast any game now or to come but I'll eventually get a PS 4 again. Playing on my 55" Samsung with DS4
Core i7 3.4ghz
Radeon 7850 OC
128GB SSD + 3TB HDD
1440IPS Monitor (that video card is not powerful enough to drive games with good settings at this resolution).
I find that people arguing 720p is "enough" kind of laughable... and 1080p on Tvs should be just expected these days... obviously I have a PS4 (along with a collection of old consoles all the way back to the 8-bit days).
PCs are best for FPS, even if they were weaker than the consoles (a good PC certainly is not) the input method is just more appropriate...
16 GB RAM
128 GB SSD
3 TB HDD
Crossfire 1440p IPS monitor
Yeah, my PC can handle anything right now pretty much maxed out. If not, add a second video card, and it will be unbeatable.
Bring on the games that can really take advantage of my PC, and stop being held back by last gen console tech.
JESUS CHRIST GAMESPOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! F*** OFF WITH ALL THE GODDAMN POPUPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really want to care about Titanfall but it doesn't do anything for me. I could be wrong about it since I haven't played it, but the only FPS that I've really enjoyed was The Darkness 1 & 2 and the first Bioshock. I Can't wait for The Darkness 3.
Unless MS put the Xbox One down to the same price as PS4 or cheaper Xbox will never catch up is that to say the console is going to fail? no it's not the more games and extra features on Xbox One will push people to buy the more expensive console but it will never catch up, a cheaper console with people still pissed of at you for trying to force DRM and all the other bs has forced alot of gamers away, sales says it all MS. In other news I couldn't care less about an over priced graphics card i'm going to be happy with my Xbox One version of Titanfall but have fun for the the people who waste their money on over priced cards like this, a bit of advise wait a year or 2 folk a year or 2 down the road that card will be half the price.
@hairdie I might be a stupid American, but does math involving pounds differ from all other math? 170+120+50 = 340. Which is still probably cheaper than a Titanfall Xbox One bundle in your part of the world, but when you say "do the math" perhaps you should check your own.
@shenmuethree Look. I have bought both the Xbox One and the PS4.
Still facts are facts. The next gen consoles are both comparable to an average PC.
Games are my favorite hobbit/addiction, and I'm willing to invest on it. So I bought both consoles because I don't want to miss any of the console exclusives. But that's me. And I wouldn't recommend anyone to do the same. I also have a decent PC.
Now over and over again I read comments of people claiming PC gaming is expensive. They don't believe a mid range graphics card can play games better than consoles and so on.
Unfortunately that has a lot to do with PR talk. And even more to do with console marketing. If you study marketing a big part of what they teach you is how to manipulate people perception.
Two products may be exactly the same, but one might be more expensive just because of its brand for instance.
What I can absolutely guarantee to you is that it is possible to buy a $500 PC that surpasses the console experience. Or at least a $400 PC that is on par with a console.
You may not believe it but there are plenty of videos on Youtube proving that.
As for the GTX 750TI. Same thing. Check the Youtube videos and the benchmark articles available for proof.
Am I trying to convince you or anyone to buy a PC instead of a console? No. Never.
I like games. And you can play them just fine in whatever platform you choose.
Would I recommend a person to get a PC instead of a console? Depends on the person.
What I can honestly state is that PC gaming is ahead of consoles. Better peripheral support, better graphics, mods, options, cheaper game prices. Access to a lot more content without any hidden fees and so on.
Does it have disadvantages? Yes it has, But there are more advantages than disadvantages.
In the end it is up to each person to decide what they prefer, taking everything into count.
@drewjbx i am actually jealous seeing has i regulary upgrade and wish i could hold back more
@nuke1984 Titan Fall is the next big game to come out and it's looking the goods, when The Last Of Us came out that was massive and everywhere. Proper gamers (like the GS staff) don't have bias to systems, they own all of them, they just get pumped about the best games coming out.
If you don't like it go to the Playstation Site and have all the gaming news filtered for you.
@smackdowner360 How is gaming on them a "step back". You obviously are just full of hot air if you own a gaming PC and don't think it's better. I would 100% buy Halo and Gears of War if they came out on PC, and they should. Microsoft is dumb for not putting all their exclusives on PC, they would sell like hot cakes.
@smackdowner360 Titan Fall won't flop on PC, mark my words. Everyone is pumped about it. Halo didn't flop on PC, didn't even know Gears came out on PC...........
@Tommi88 lol nt bro
@Tommi88 xbox one can't even run thief in 1080p.. lol
@jaydenrock yes you are wrong about it :P
Most expensive component in a PC? The graphics card. Did you miss the part where nvidia released the 750ti for next to nothing?
When a 150 dollar card blows away anything these supposed Next Gen consoles can do for half the price.... that says something.
Anybody who has at least a computer that was bought in the last 4 years with at least a i3 processor can slap one of these cards in it and perform better than the new consoles ever thought of doing.
You call this Videocard overpriced.... I call the new consoles grossly overpriced.
As far as exciting action games it does look nice, but not everyone wants an arcade type fps game all the time.. I prefer games with a strong narrative and I don't like playing with random people.
@josh_b @jayjay444 LOL a $150 graphics card out performing next gen consoles? are you stupid or just dumb, a $150 graphics card would never play crysis medium 60fps 1080p never mind ultra and do I need to remind you of Killzone 4 and how much that destroys Crysis 3 even on ultra or the fact Ryse on Xbox One plays the Cry engine maxed out? no $150 graphics card would play any of these games at the graphics there at on these new consoles your deluded lmao. Keep dreaming PC's are more expensive to get the graphics these consoles play at your talking a $800+ rig and a $400-$500 graphics card minimum, $150 what a joke lmao.
@jayjay444@josh_b Wow, killzone destroys crysis 3 on ultra huh? Are you trolling or just a dumb fuck? Nothing that has ever been made looks as good as Crysis 3 on ultra to this day, nothing!!!!! The game sucks, but there is no game, and there probably won't be a game this console generation that looks as good as Crysis 3 on ultra. It looks absolutely real. You obviously do NOT have a good gaming PC to make a comment like that. Oh, and btw this $150 dollar card DOES outperform the xbox one, there is no ifs ands or buts about it. It runs bf4 at high settings at 1080p, that means it is better than the xbox one. You are a really ignorant fanboy aren't ya?
