@duffc25 First get it out of your head that money will directly go to the dev. If there is a system like that set up. The publishers will be fronting the money on that. . They would also have to create a system that tracks the individual game to make sure the correct dev team gets their due. Since there are multiple devs under a publisher. If you believe that, then i bet you believe in world piece in our life time.

Second. what you suggested is my friend pay the devs so he can borrow my game digitally? Why not just hand it to him for free?

@vinnypharmacist I'll support the disintegration of the used game industry as soon as the developers collectively strive to make games that people don't want to re-sell in the first place. But that's way too difficult a goal for them to achieve.

So, rather than trying to earn more money from people through customer loyalty, quality products, and value, they would rather kick and scream while trying to force our hand through DRM. Why would anyone want to support that? It's like rewarding a child who is on timeout for not cleaning his room with ice cream simply because he was screaming bloody murder and the parent wanted to shut him/her up.

If you reward bad behavior, game developers will cross every line in the sand that you draw and bleed you dry if you let them.

Offer developers the security they need to support mods, make sure developers get a piece of used game sales at 3rd party retailing outlets, and we the gamers will see your coffers filled. We ask only that our skilled youth have their go, just as they will in the self-published indie game’s market.
