GS News - PS4-Only Destiny Mission; Get a Free Game with an Xbox One!
Microsoft unveils a pretty attractive deal to give you a free game, Ryse is coming to PC in October, and Destiny releases a strike mission trailer!

Yep I have always been a PC man myself. Don't both consoles have free game bundles anyway? I might be wrong.
I bought both of the consoles on the international launch because I have a problem and at the time I had gainful employment with lots of disposable income. I bought an imported Xbox One. Delaying the release here in Sweden by almost a full year is just... ridiculous. Still some people I know were holding out for the Xbox One for reasons I cannot fathom. Unless you're big into Forza or something I see little reason to pick the X1 over the PS4. I bought both because I am "that guy" that needs all the toys and while I think the X1 is a great system I slightly prefer the PS4 in every single category from hardware and system software to the controller and performance in 3rd party games.
Only console I'm holding out for is the Wii U. Still waiting for a price drop to $250 with a 3 game bundle. Hopefully that will happen on Black Friday or before.
I'm holding off on next gen because I'm tired of feeling burned when later adopters get a better slim version, bigger hard drive and maybe even a game included. When a system update broke my fat PS3, Sony acted like it was crazy that I expected it to still work at all, as if it's normal to buy another one every few years, so this time I'll just wait it out.
Wtf , why would i buy a freaking One if all the exclusive game that interest me come to PC . Would be a waste of money .
Thank You oh lordly Microsoft for taking a poop on the rest of the world and making this offer US only. I guess you're selling enough consoles everywhere else eh?
Computer says no.
I'm still gonna hold out for a game that will inspire me to get a new generation console. But If I do break down and get one, it will be the PS4 Destiny bundle.
Ah fanboyz with no money always bash one console over the other....go get a job mate...better yet maybe take some night classes and get a better job with more money so you can buy both consoles and the world won't have to see you make stupid posts on gamespot.
No way I'm buying Xbox one - Ps4 is better and PC is better. If I really want to play Titanfall (I don't ) I'll play it on the PC. If you bought an Xbox one and have a good PC, I wouldn't say buy a PS4. I would say you made a bad console choice. Two words: Naughty Dog.
Havent got a new console yet. Basically waiting until product is complete with all promised features, it needs to do more than last gen. Also hopping for bigger HDD installed. And really, there's no need to rush, products are incomplete and there are no absolutely must have games. They will all be there later, for cheaper.
Most likely will get a PS4, since I love my PS3. But thinking I may get an Xbox since my friends are 360 players who are unlikely to change to PS. We shall see....
I'm still holding up. I'll eventually buy a PS4, but not till the price drops. I'm in no rush, I have plenty of games to keep me busy on ps3, 3DS and PC.
'Next Gen Console Purchase'
I own a PS4. I have no sense of urgency to buy an XB1. If Microsoft allowed Foriza Horizon 2 in their bundle, I'd probably get it, or I might still procrastinate. I already spend too much time playing video games. I've have other things more important to do with my time than to spend more and more of my time playing more and more video games.
If life is a game. . .then I'm playing games most of the time.
If life is a game???? [you fill in the blank] Who's rules do you play by?
Still waiting to buy a new console. Depending on how Destiny does it might push me over the edge. Should be some good games for a low enough price by now.
Pardon if I'm mistaken, but didn't Ryse get horrible reviews and was likened to one long QTE with pretty graphics? Yea, they don't need to port that to my system of choice. Handing out a free game with the console sure sounds to me like a Hail Mary style attempt to get people to adopt the all in one system that lacks features from the previous generation of console. Both consoles and a PC version of Ryse can take a flying leap imo.
I still haven't purchased one of the latest consoles because I don't know which one to buy. Based on console features and exclusive titles, I'm leaning towards Xbox One. For the Xbox One, I'm interested in Forza Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break. While on the PS4, I'm only interested in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and the next David Cage/Quantic Dream game. Also, the Xbox One is cheaper than the PS4 in Canada.
It would be really nice if, given the price drop and dropping of the requirement to have Kinect 2.0 (ie another price drop), early adopters of the X1 were given a free game for their willingness to jump in.
Makes sense. If the new launch territories produce a weak bump this might boost numbers a bit helping to mask that when numbers release.
If they produce good then this will just further boost it. Win/win.
For your question of the day: Have not bought a current gen console and have no immediate plans to do so. I'm running a PC that runs all the multiplats better than the consoles do and there aren't enough worthwhile exclusives out yet for me to shell out $500 on a new toy, not to mention the monthly sub fees, cost of the games and added peripherals. For that kind of money, I would probably just upgrade my PC instead. I may consider a PS4 once the price drops to around the $250 mark and there are plenty of great exclusives available that I can buy second hand.
@digigamerx Nope, Sony really doesn't need to offer anything with the PS4. Why offer incentives to buy the console when it's already selling better than you could've ever hoped?
@scarred_fox I'll stick with my PC, PS4, PS3, Wii, Vita, and 3DS. ^^ I like playing good games, and unfortunately all of the good games aren't on the PC. You have fun with your limitations though. <3
@scarred_fox Same here. I've always been a PC man. And doesn't both consoles come with free game bundles anyway? I must be wrong. And Ryse coming out on PC, do the developers hate PC gamers?
@rickphoenixxx I'll be doing the same
@vanti I own both as well, and I would say that PS4 has the edge -currently-, but the XBox One shows tons of potential and as quality exclusives pop up in the coming years, as well as OS updates and revamps, I think the X1 will find itself. I have a better time with shooters on the X1. My hands get a little cramped and tired on the PS4 -- that doesn't mean I can't play it for a VERY long time.
Anyway, don't feel bad for being "that guy" -- I'm "that guy" too, and having both is really pretty awesome. I'd like a Wii at some point as well. I already have a $2500 gaming PC as well as a laptop that runs games better than the X1. NO REGRETS.
Aside from the fact that not all One exclusives come to PC and a lot of them are delayed more than half a year, there are other non gaming features you get with the x1 that a lot of gamers enjoy and want
@mattcake They've pretty much given up on the rest of the planet. Their exclusives are primarily shooters, and those only play to the gun crazed USA.
@mattcake They know more XB1 will be sold in the US with this deal then anywhere else. Maybe if the rest of the world embraced the XB1, they would get better deals.
@Wicked869 I was holding off till at least November before games that I wanted came out but then I tried the Destiny Beta. I pre-ordered the Destiny Bundle literally the same day I loved it that much and that was on PS3. PS4 version is going to be SWEEET!
@weapon_x57 agreed! the only console i don't have is the ps4 which i will have on tuesday when i pick up the destiny bundle and i am still a college student!
Titanfall is fantastic for people who like multiplayer FPS. I absolutely love that game. Definitely play it if you like that kind of game. Also, you know that the Xbox one (with Kinect) can do things that neither the ps4 or pc can do right?
@dmblum1799 Overrated movie-makers for the casual cinephile masses who consider themselves gamers but actually suck at anything that isnt a streamlined movie with tacked on dull, shallow gameplay segment. 1 word: You.
Well there is no need to get it right now, but you are missing out on a lot of really great exciting experiences. 25+ games on my Xbox One have made the launch purchase pretty much the best console of my life. And like 15 - 20 more games in library by the end of the year just makes having it right now sensible.
@Pawfalcon I'd get one right now if I could..! Where I live it isnt officially out yet (and they'll charge 800 USD or more for it when it happens...) In any case, no matter how many games are out there now, that console will be supported for 10+ years making it a good investment
@tuckpoint. I actually liked ryse more than the reviews gave it credit. Good story, great graphics, solid combat that wasn't very deep yet still entertaining. The QTE became more useful when playing on legendary making it more entertaining. Multiplayer was ok if playing with a friend but could have been better. I'd say it is worth $20-$30,
@hotrod_5 I love the X1 controller hence why i picked that one. Nothing wrong with PS4's. Just my personal preference.
@freedomzealot How dare Jess have her own opinions on what she likes and doesn't like. I thought everybody was aware your opinion is the only one that matters. Surely this can't go unpunished.
@Vylsith @scarred_fox ok, I have emulators and I rent or bower the games and play it on PC.
nice try though, my feels are still intact =)
have fun with YOUR limitations =)
Sunset overdrive? Quantum break? Forza + horizon? The only exclusive shooter is going to be halo and eventually gears
@Dannystaples14 @Wicked869 Good call , why wait for November when you can get a sweet bundle before it s hard to find . The ps4 beta was sweet indeed :)
@homelessgamer How in the hell did you escape from the Maine PD? 8-)
