GS News - CoD: Advanced Warfare To Be Photorealistic; EA Talks Canoes!
EA says people will embrace microtransactions, Activision is confident with Call of Duty’s visual quality, and Nintendo explain their Wii U strategy.
Will it contain photo realistic gore? Every M rated COD should be as brutal as W@W. These games should portray war as brutal and horrific. Kids should not be excited to join the service after playing these games.
Yes, content is very important Nintendo.....and content like highly sought out third party games is the most important kind of content there is. NOT having these kind of makes you obsolete this gen on the grand scale, although your core fanbase will always be there.
Activision, just optimise your graphics, not cool to see all the photorealism ruined by low framerates D:
Lol at the photorealistic statement. Just look at the real Kevin Spacey and that thing that is supposed to be him. In fact we are not even close enough to enter the uncanny valley
i embraced gaming....by not supporting ANYTHING from EA, after BF3. and sticking with independent developers 90% of the time....Best move i've ever done.
Photo realistic. Anddddd:
1: Is unoptimised
2: Does not support SLI or Xfire
3: Campaign lasts 3 hours
4: Costs 39.99 on PC
5: Will recieve no pc optimisation patches or bug fixes
you're not getting me again activision.. never again!
Golden Age of gaming? More like Gray FPS Age of gaming.
EA, guess who is putting microtransactions in $60 AAA titles (or reviving classic PC titles as shitty mobile F2P versions). Yes, it's YOU! It isn't the industry who is changing; it's your greed that is trying to change the industry.
Wow, EA really needs to get a clue. I've never played a Free2Play game that didn't suck without spending hordes of cash to unlock everything to get the full experience. Which I refuse to do. And micro-transactions are just as bad. I will never spend a cent on micro-transactions.
Games are $70 + taxes in Canada. No way in hell am I paying for extra content in-game with such a huge upfront cost. Day 1 DLC is bad enough. The problem is, for every person smart enough not to buy into this garbage, there are a 100 spoiled kids whose parents will buy them anything to keep from having to deal with them. This makes company's like EA think we are ok with this.
Basically saying, "its happening so get over it and pull out your wallet", is why EA is seen as such a terrible company. They are completely out of touch with gamers.
So no updates to anything that matters then and another false claim made by a clueless corporate shill.
Australia's winter is pretty much the UKs summer though.
EA! I will NEVER buy microtransactions. EVER! I will jump out of the canoe and drown before I give money for microtransactions.....which means in the real none metaphor world I will stop gaming.
'Photorealistic' my foot. It isn't like I haven't heard that every few years about games. :/ And when the game is produced in just a year and so, its hard to imagine that they had the nerve to say that.
.....Peter Moore needs to shut up too. He's like "sure we shot ourselves in the foot last summer - but it's ok, cause I'll just shoot myself again, and it'll be ok this time!". Greed is a funny thing, it makes people stupid.
I'm not fussed about the visuals! I want to see some inspiration from the mechanics: rather than not killing EVERYONE, how about shooting your enemies weapon out of their hand, or incapacitating them by shooting them in the leg or ass & capturing them. And, how about this, fighting against the American war machine instead of fighting for it? If you actually do your research & investigate the USA's history of false flag operations, you'll know that rather than being the solution, the Military-Industrial complex, is a big part of the problem.
Thanks for discussing Call Of Dooty.
Hehe. I said Dooty... Because that is what the game is going to be. I hope everyone (the press and users alike) reviews the game based off all the hype they have used to sell the game. Kind of like a checklist.
You won't even realize it's a game! And the game uses photorealistic visuals, and it will blow you away!!! Well then it's already got a 0/10 :) I am not saying the artists and game designers do a bad job, but the marketing and executive departments are.
Blown away from this game is more like it.
Wait! Hold on.... Jumpers? Thats so weird.
And the whole "photo-realistic" thing is the usual hype creek content. The only people who might be blown away are those that haven't played a game since Tetris. And don't own a TV or computer. Pretty sure Tribesmen in the Amazon and New Guinea would respond with something along the lines of "pshhh, Witcher 3 looks better", probably >.>
The problem with free to play games in my opinion is that most of the time players who have invested a lot of money in the game have a clear advantage over others, it's very time consuming to progress/level up and get in-game money or good equipment without paying for it. I know that there are some good and successful free to play games, but not in genres that interest me. I'm also against microtransactions in retail games. If I have paid the full price for a game, i want to be able to access all the content in it, I think that even little things like weapon camos should be unlocked by completing certain objectives, not by paying real money for them. Of course, I don't mind paying for good DLC that is created after the game's release. Also, I have a hard time believing that it's cold in Australia :P
Photorealistic. COD 4 was also marketed as being "photorealistic." Not too long ago, we were told that these "new" consoles would produce "Avatar-like" graphics.
Stop. Let's be "realistic." PS4 has a 7870. If three Titan Blacks can't produce "photorealistic" graphics, it ain't happening on a 7870. Motion capture has been used in gaming for over a decade. What, here, is revelatory?
@Dannystaples14 Aussies are like "burr its cold, its only 60f degrees (15.5c degrees), I'd better put a sweater on". lol
Where I live in the states (Virginia) our winters are on average around 15f degrees (-9.4c degrees), and can get as low as -10f degrees at night (-23.3c degrees), with a wind chill of between -20 and -30f degrees (-28.8c - 34.4c degrees).
60f degrees/15.5c degrees is nice and comfortably warm to me. Heck, I wear shorts all winter long on he days its 20f - 30f degrees (-6.6c - 1.1 c degrees) here - which is most days here between November-to-April.
I'd like to send Jess some of my soups, be it minestrone or lentil. The latter would most certainly warm her up!
@Ferrets_one Pants are pants. Shirts are shirts or tops.
@Ferrets_one Trousers and cloths.
@Ferrets_one Heh, I wonder. "Jumpers" was new to me.
@Pawfalcon Can confirm. Am a tribesman living on the Amazon. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to keep working through my Steam backlog before my elder boots me off the PC.
@Zombie97 I thought it stayed pretty warm in Australia too, but recently I have spoken to some Australian people online who have told me they are having temps around low teens (celsius) and some told me it can even get to freezing (0c) in some places. Still not totally sure I believe the freezing part heh, I should look it up, but anyway.
Thanks for the info, I guess that depends on the part of the continent. I wonder if it ever snows in Australia? I just hope it's not too cold in the GameSpot office, they might not have central heating :(
Our lows are hovering around 8 degree Celcius currently, but we've been having some killer 45km/hr winds that have made things a lot worse. Some parts of Australia do get snow.
Over here, lowest was -46 with wind chill factor. Frostbite kind of cold. You know it's cold, when exposing your skin to the wind to try and grab your keys hurts your hands.
Australia sounds likes paradise. But I wouldn't be handle all the creeping creatures and venomous things. I would die, I know I would. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. Huntsman spiders, I've googled those things. I'd probably end getting shanked to death by a giant wasp in a shady alley.
Drop bears aren't real? That's what they want you to think.
@homelessgamer Yeah, but look how happy she is on video every day. IT'S TOTALLY LEGIT HAPPINESS.
I have to admit that I'm not familiar with any of his works, but it's always sad to lose someone who has contributed much to literature :(
