GS News - BioWare’s New Gay Character; Sony Supports PS4/Xbox Console War
Sony says the console war is good for competition, BioWare writes their first legitimately gay character for Dragon Age, and GTA Online gets a July 4 update!
Personally I have no problem with them adding a gay character to dragon age I am a straight Conservative Christian male and I enjoyed the characters of Steve Cortez and Samantha Traynor. I just hope Dorian is as well written as those two with Steve and Samantha if some one asked me to describe them I wouldn't need to mention their sexuality to explain what kind of person they are for instance I would describe Samantha as "the rookie crew member who feels out of place among theses legends and is constantly trying to prove her worth" or Steve as "The emotionally damaged pilot desperately searching for something left to live for". and so I hope Dorian has more depth to him than just being "That gay mage character"
Instead of playing Grand Theft Auto, Play Saints Row IV National Treasure Edition instead and get your O'murica on.
Once upon a time Ford made a 'one size fits all' Model T production car. Then came GM and they made cars to fit everyone's personalities and tastes. The same can be said of GTA vs. Saints Row series. The Saints Row series lets you customize everything--with a virtual unlimited amount of customization--about your character to your liking including three different ethnicities for your female or male lead character. GTA 5 shoves Sleezy,, Slimy, and Smelly down your throat whether you like it or not.
The Saints Row Series has the best sense of humour. . .
Which is very healthy for your emotionally and physically.
Can you kill off characters in Dragon Age like in Mass Effect? I've never played Dragon Age so I don't know.
happy birthday :D
Jess somewhere in the universe people worship goddess statues that look like you
and yes I just posted this twice in case u missed it the first time :D
what can I say I love my likes :P
Thank you Bioware for taking your moral/social/political agenda, putting it in your art, watering it down with a high pressure hose of political correctness and then calling it progress.
It's been obvious for years that Bioware has an agenda. It not like this wasn't expected.
Expect to see the same for Mass Effect 4.
I just hope the gay character won't be one of them super flamboyant types that grate on you after a bit.
Bioware`s games have always ran rampant with gays and lesbian characters. In Mass Effect 3 there was this Indian looking English woman who was a complete lesbian and you couldn`t have sex with her as a guy. Also I remember quite a few gays from the first two Dragon Age games. They`re just trying to hype this up to raise publicity.
I kinda feel weird playing their games because of all the gays trying to hump my character`s ass. I wish they`d also make an only straight character but that would be "bigoted, hateful, closed-minded, sexist, backward.." and probably "racist and xenophobic" and god knows what other drivel they`d think up... I can see games in the future having an only gay protagonist who you can`t change and if someone complained they`d be called every bad word under the blue sky.
Is it gonna be a bear or a twink? Whichever of the two it is someone has to complain about the other missing.
Its hard to say, but its a sure thing that if it were not for competition between the systems then neither would be trying hard to bring out a whole new experience(next-gen). Playstation-4 would not have been so great, and Xbox would have tried to fk over its fans even harder.
Hopefully, in 6-8 years, the next systems get released and Xbox does things right for its remaining fans. As it stands it would seem that Playstation is surely still out selling Xbox 2 - 1 or more. Perhaps Xbox has caught up some currently, but Playstation is now taking their shot with bundles. Really want to see how things will stand come the end of the year.
Now if only Nintendo would smarten the fk up, its just such sad hardware. The only reason is doing well is cause people are bored so they're buying it, its gonna die out like the Nintendo Wii did.
I don't blame Yoshida. Spencer has made a point of doing the humble good guy thing in regards to competition. Digs and insults quickly translate into arrogance with the games media and consumer base. Both Sony and MS have learned how much that hurts.
Of course Sony support the console war. The balls up by Microsoft last year is the only reason they have so many sales now. Sure isn't their stellar software line up so far is it?
Ok, this is funny, tried to use the commonly-accepted, non-judgmental, 3-letter-word-starting-with-g adjective for a male human with same-sex preferences in my post and it got stuck in "pending" land.
Funny hearing you say "'Murica". Next we need to get you to say "y'all" and "truuck" like the locals where I live. :D
I love the Sony sideways swipe at Mattrick, couldn't agree more.
As for the DAI character, good for BioWare I guess. A person's race/sex/religion/orientation/planet of origin isn't important to me, so "whatever". Sounds like a powerful party member and I will most likely have him on board.
I'll probably play as the female Inquisitor at least once just to hear Alix Reagan's voice over work anyway.
I think Fallout New Vegas did it best, with there being gay characters who were just.. normal people who 'happened' to be gay. They'd mention it casually in their dialogue, but it wasn't anything special.
The gay thing wasn't even the focus. It was just a handwave and a mention, not a flamboyant, lisping stereotype.
Putting a spotlight on it is just media attention grabbing bullshit.
While watching this video it occurred to me that the gaming industry has degraded into a cesspool of pandering lameness and spineless mediocrity. It appears that the gaming community, myself included, is largely responsible for this mess. Not something I want to be a part of anymore... game over.
@Henninger Yes, you can. Guess who's going to be my first victim on DA:I.
@vadagar1 Yeah i always double post, gotta get dat attention
@hyperbolel LOL Irony.
yes they plan to rule the world ....
get over yourself, the world is a much sadder and simpler place, everyone wants money and comfort THAT's the secret of all things
disappointing I know....
@youre_a_sheep It's Winter here Dude, when it sort of gets cold.
@Bellum_Sacrum I'm just hoping all his spells will look like the "The More You Know" logo.
@Bellum_Sacrum He is a power bottom. confirmed via twitter
@Kinren1 that was fairly lame
@jennifer59 SPAMBOT ALERT.
@Dannystaples14 The only reason he "likes Microsoft" is because he`s laughing at them and sees them as no real competition, much like how Nintendo is such a joke that everyone supports them out of pity. When they start saying NEGATIVE things about them, that`s when it gets real interesting.
@Dannystaples14 ...? You realize that it's a true statement, right? When companies compete, everyone wins. That's never been more true than the gaming industry. The better games become, the more people that play them that didn't before. The larger that group grows, the more money the companies can make.
Competition isn't just good for consumers, it's good for companies and industries. It's not a marketing statement, it's just a fact of economics.
@mtouchprod Leliana was bisexual as far as I can remember, Zevran too.
@TimberWolf_CLT That's because that's usually offensive.
@TimberWolf_CLT She does say "reckon" a lot.
@razrabbit Perfectly said. That is the ENTIRE problem with it. Its been a thing with Fallout for years but it's just there, it's just a thing. They don't raise a fuss about it. Bioware from the start has been all "HEY LOOK WHAT WE GOT! AREN'T WE PROGRESSIVE?!" and it just...rankles me. I couldn't give one dig less about a characters sexual orientation, I am a ton more interested in how well written the character is, and how well done the story is.
@SingletreeAve yes CoD does suck
@SingletreeAve Hey man, I know things can seem rough from time to time, but killing yourself surely isn't the answer! :(
@X_oddgod_X Good! That's all I wanted to know.
