Never seen a more honest developer than Cevat Yerli. There are a lot of mistakes with Crysis 2 and he mentioned about more marketing. I think Crysis 2 was marketed beyond the limit. It was clearly over hyped despite being lesser version compare to Crysis 1. My disappointment starts the moment I entered the game when nothing happened when I shoot the trees. Played a while after that and couldn't continue cause I don't like it that much. After months, started playing again and I realised that Crysis 2 is a freaking cool game actually. I guess I did not like it the 1st time I tried cause I just played Crysis 1 before it. The fresh memories of freedom was still there and I couldn't bear the linearity of Crysis 2. Treat Crysis 2 as a totally new game and everyone will enjoy it to the max.
And the gs doesn't have crysis 2 on pc fps review list, it used to be there and magically disappeared after some time. Find crysis 2 pc manually, it doesn't even have rating, it says no rating. Real nice and classy way to keep things gamespot.
finaly, intellegant ai... intellegent artificial intellegant... yup, gonna be filled with joy, and joyness :) lub u crytek
Cevat i love crysis 2 and the DX11 patch, i was astonished how great u made the game look via a patch, how ever i must admit at the time of release i was a little disappointed but regardless it was an amazing game, and i love it so much that i have played through it 5 times. my friends really liked the game but couldn't afford the dear 100 dollars that it costs in Australia, i bought three of my friends crysis 2 cos i did not want any one pirating the wonderful game it is, consequently i had to walk every where for a month but it didnt matter. i love crysis and i don't think Crytek is to blame over the outdated technology of consoles. please build the next crysis like crysis 2 (story(it was the best story next too halo in a scifi game) and gameplay wise like u said u got the DNA now grow that organism)
When he is asked what specifically they should have done better in Crysis 2 hes answering? "We should have fixed 2 AI bugs", what are those bugs hes talking about?
That is exactly what I want to hear when you make a sequel that sucks more than the original which I played on full graphics on my computer. I think it was probably EAs input that ruined the game and the shock factor of being in New York and not having it as open really ruined the experience. That and every enemy looking the same for the aliens and taking away the umph that the aliens had in number 1. There were so many things that went wrong with that game. Story wise, game play wise, aethetics wise.
I like Ca vet Yer li, he tells it like it is in the game industry! The technology in the consoles should be up with the technology of the PC, that's my opinion, for mul ti-platform games. We did not see DX 11 at release because the technology in the consoles!
nice interview and funny guy , but speaking of CryEngine 3 , he should've been looking forward to BF3 more than MW3 since it's alot more graphically realistic .
I really liked this interview. Never before did I see such interview where somebody just admit that something didn't go the way it supposed to go, giving good explanation at the same time. I think that Crysis 1 was greater success as a game, but both Crysis 1 and 2 didn't get as much popularity as they should. Especially Crysis 1 was so f-ing brilliant multiplayer game and yet it died due to lack of people playing those cool maps with standard rules. I have never had so much fun playing a game as I had playing Crysis and it's not much likely that I ever gonna have so much fun again. Crysis 2 is good, but just not as good. I'm looking forward to BF3, but I don't believe it's gonna be even close as fun to play. Who knows..? Maybe Warface? Or maybe I'll have to wait till Crysis 3?
still great game. played it again with the dx11 patch and texture pack and it looks really great. great gameplay too :-)
Seems like humble guy and is truly committed to the PC despite Crysis 2. I'm liking his comments at 7.30 about DX11.
Guess what? Crysis 2 has sold Crysis 3 for me. @logggo267905 Yeah I agree, I am a PC gamer, and I can admit that we are some whiny b*****s sometimes. But that's the nature of the beast. We've always been spoiled with the latest and greatest. Even though I was surprised that DX11 was not included at launch it really didn't bother me. It was still a beautiful game without it.
poor cevat ): Look what he is doing to accomodate all you pc people, living with your stupid complaints and b/s stories, bending over backwards for your requests... Let it go already!
Crysis 2 was the best campaign FPS I have played in a long time. No AI bugs in my play through but i just got into it a couple months ago after the second patch I think so maybe it was fixed when I played the campaign. I do remember complaints from reviewers saying the AI was dumb, but honestly in my experience the AI was deadly smart. The PC multiplayer is great online - figuring out wat perks to use and managing ur suits energy, sheild and invisibility - just as long as u dont get a cheater joining u. The game is overrun with cheaters using autoaim among other hacks for shielding, locating players on the map etc. So... making the online portion of the game more airtight in terms of cheating is of major importance for Crysis 3 in the future.
Crysis 2 was and is not a bad game but the story lacked a little all they really needed were a engaging story.
Seems like a honest and humble bloke, he definitely made mistakes with Crysis 2 on release but he clearly realises it so hopefully there won't be a repeat with future games.
I'm not a PC Head but if its free to play, how do they make money ? Via ads or you have to pay to unlock certain features/weapons/maps ?
@crazerlapd- Great point, dude. I did the exact same thing with Crysis 2. Started it off for a couple hours and just lost interest, mainly because it wasn't as sandboxy as before but I also missed the turbo boost and super high jump. Put the game down for months, went back to it when I had nothing else to play and ended up loving it.
Cevat Yerli shouldn't be so hard on himself, they made a top notch game, and an 85 metacritic score is nothing to sneeze at.
