With the PlayStation 4 launching this week, we were finally able to give our verdict on Sony's launch lineup. Not everyone was happy about it.

Funny as Hell. Gamespot reads comments the best way of any site on the web.

It's just so funny to watch the Xbots comments now after the Xbone's game failure. And the crush in sales they will get today with the release of the PS4 worldwide, sure!! ^_^

wasn't call of duty 3 a port from older systems?? (honestly unsure)

Just like the rest of the Sony products the Playstation 4 will be exciting.

Great episode that brings up probably the most pertinent issue regarding these "console wars" with the whole blind loyalty and attacking anything that isn't your preference. Keep it up, Johnny, whether all this falls on deaf ears or not!

Obviously paid off by the dogs.

Horses deserve at LEAST a 7.

Johnneh made a really good point comparing the animal scenes to the consoles war. It's really just stupid to fight over this imaginary virtual conflict.

@macaque12 Of course its stupid, but there are a lot of stupid people about, if there weren't we wouldn't have anyone to laugh at.

Did you honestly post that in response to watching this episode? If so, I think you may have missed the point...

How can can Gamespot claim that they are impartial to a brand when their site is flooded with green xbox advertises.

Slim_Lyrics
Slim_Lyrics

@jacquelineferre By running ads promoting Killzone Shadowfall on their videos. GS is a ad funded business. It's not their fault that Microsoft offered to pay for ads on their webpage and Sony payed for video ads on their videos.

tooitchy
tooitchy

@jacquelineferre ads have nothing to do with the content of the website.... They also have PS4 commercials playing on videos, it's called ad revenue, it's the only way a site like Gamespot can continue to exist.

As usual Johnny you make some really excellent points. i believe the problem is you are trying to apply logic and reason to a group of individuals who aren't interested in either concept. Isn't it largely irrelevant with all the things going in the world today which console is superior? Purchase what you want and enjoy it and ignore the rest.

Carpetfluff
Carpetfluff

@TheGlenster There are rare glimpses of logic on the comments pages too, but obviously that rules them out for inclusion in most Feedbackulas.

Fanboys do amuse me, Fanboyism is just a symptom of a disease called "I can't afford both consoles" disease. Do some overtime or something. Buy both consoles and cure your silliness.

presauk

@Foxhound1982 Yeah cuz overtime is an instant cure for bills, educational expenses, and living expenses. Tell you what buddy if I do overtime at my job it won't be to get a freaking console. That shit's a luxury which quite frankly it's ridiculous to have purchased in the first place at launch with no intimate knowledge of the games coming out for it. Not everyone is going out of their way to buy two fairly large entertainments systems to stuff their living room/basement with... Those that are usually occupy positions of privilege and seriously need to consider the wisdom of their spendings. It is not an act of fanboyism that forces me to stick to the one console I got... It's a matter of me being confident that I want only the one luxury. If I certainly don't need the one I won't need both either. It is an act of fanboyism however to justify the purchase as a need of any kind when your job does not revolve around game journalism or development. Most people who you call fanboys are probably privileged enough to buy both it's just that they try to legitimize their purchase because they don't wan't others to think that they purchased a technologically advanced paperweight.

Foxhound1982

@presauk @Foxhound1982 Translation: I can't afford both consoles and now im all butthurt by your comment. So the fact im buying both means im "privileged and need to consider the wisdom of my spendings" as you put it. Well no buddy it's because ive gone from working for £1.25 an hour to finally having a decent career which pays enough for me to raise my two daughters and still have a modest disposable income. I started at the bottom and worked my way up. So yes, i'll be buying both consoles, and i won't be feeling guilty about it. Peace

Good point regarding games getting better further down the line for both consoles.  It's a new piece of kit and developers haven't had much time to either program on it or see what they can actually do with the new hardware.

Launch titles don't really push the boundaries as nobody knows what they are with as yet unreleased console.  The example between COD 3 and Last of Us near the end is a great example of this and it's true you get the best from a console near the end of it's life.

Also it isn't really worth buying a console straight off the bat.  I waited for about 18 months before i got a PS3 as i was still happily working through a load of PS2 games.

By the time i bought it, it was cheaper despite having a larger HD than the release version and it come with 3 games.  Plus i had 18 months worth of games to look through and buy dirt cheap, either second hand or brand new.  I imagine it was the same with Xbox 360 18 months after it was released.

Think people just need to chill out about launch titles and consoles, and probably stop getting their pants in a twist about something that, in the grand scheme of things, doesn't really matter.

WillyWynn
WillyWynn

Sorry to say but both consoles have horrible launch titles....  Honestly i don't see any reason to buy new console at launch, like every launch every consoles have problems, or most people forgot the launch from xbox 360 lol, worst lanch ever lol.

"Does it really, truly make sense to have that loyalty extend to rejoicing in the shortcomings of the alternatives, as if they're your mortal enemies?"

Indeed.  Sadly, to these people (the kids in middle/highschool, the average man-child, people with no life, and people with just a genuine shitty disposition on life) yes- it DOES make sense.

I wish people actually understood what Johnny was conveying each week, instead of just trying to see if their comment made it on FeedBackula or to hear a "I barely knew her" joke.  He's TRYING to make gamers (mostly console gamers, but some PC'ers, too) more open and AWARE of how we treat each other.  But, it doesn't matter... It really saddens me.

Some of you guys are like little condom failures that you have to let touch the stove one too many times, because you just can't reason it out for yourself.  Continue to whine on.

@BoogieL0ve Good form.  The way some fanboys talk, it's almost as if they're celebrating their ignorance and shortsightedness.  But they are not to be celebrated.  Just ridiculed and exploited, it seems.

Johnny, was the graphic video footage of animals being badly injured necessary? There wasn't even a warning. The horse crossing the road was brutal. For a guy always taking the moral high ground, you didn't put much thought into this, did you?

@twisted_sith @SolanOcard Yeah "bro" I mean everyone totally shouldn't give a shit when a harmless living creature gets it's shit pushed in! #learntoapathybro

@SolanOcard lol you act like he was the one that hit it :-/ not quite sure what his morals have to do with it... he didn't exactly condone it...

DogDingus
DogDingus

@SolanOcard I agree, that made my stomach drop. Watching a cat try to jump to what appeared to be another highrise and fall to its death, a horse get killed by a car, and a boar internally injured was over the top for comparing the extremely lame "console wars".  I come to a gaming site to keep my mind off of the stresses of real life, not to watch living creatures suffer.

Is Feedbackula going to feature videos of westerners being beheaded by jihadists to make another point next episode?  Everyone knows those videos are great for making analogies regarding what Xbox and Playstation fans say to each other via comments on the internet. Ooooh and then Johnny can reiterate his point by yelling "Take that you filthy American contractor!" at the end of the show.

Not cool, and way over the top for the subject at hand.

Gotta say, Feedbackula feels like a much worthier watch when some valid points are brought up and discussed, as in this episode. Keep it up!

nintendo was the only console that would have a launch title worthy of its new system.

Johnneh states that "There are fewer hardware differences than any generation before" *

This is untrue.  *(Unless he is talking about the actual hardware architecture itself and not the performance differences) The PS3 and 360 were much closer in performance and hardware than the Xbone and PS4 are today.

In other words, the difference in power the PS4 has over the Xbone is much great than the difference between the PS3/360 performance.

Whether or not we see this evident in future games is still unknown.

KBABZ
KBABZ

@danjammer69 I disagree here; because of the PS3's Cell Processor, it was much more difficult for developers to make a game that was equivalent to the 360 counterpart.

I'm sticking to my PC but I do think things will get better for the PS4. I guess for some people, a less than stellar launch might be a long term deal breaker though...

Breaker?? I barely know her!!

xeoneex66
xeoneex66

@Korvus85 I think alot of people might ultimately do the same.  After the launch fiasco and the latest patch issues, I'm weary of even thinking about the system.  on the bright side, there are some good titles coming to PC, at least I think so, in the indie dev category :)

Breaker?  Better than a a waitress farting on her way to bringing your sandwich to the table...

The comparison between COD 3 and The Last of Us really puts things into perspective. Why is everyone kicking off? I remember when it use to be a luxury to even play a game, people expect too much these days. Be patient, wait for the developers to get some experience with what they are working with. Right now we have an incredible future of gaming in front of us. Let's not get so fired up over a launch library.
