Actually you can play games off of some DVD movie discs via your DVD player. It is the physical media that could be considered a toy and not the player. The fact that a consoles primary function is games doesn't make the unit itself a toy. Current gen consoles play games, movies, music, allow for surfing the Internet, etc. A PC gaming rigs primary function is games and you can also do the same stuff I just mentioned plus programming, spreadsheets, etc. That honestly makes them both tools for various uses, some of which are the same but thats more about the capability of function that an end user wants to see for their money invested. If you want to break your current gen console and install another OS in place of what comes prepackaged it would effectively become a PC with 7-8 year old hardware specs. Which means you could do whatever that hardware and OS would allow but the average user buys a console to avoid doing that sort of thing.

But a DVD player can't play a video game, emphasis on the word game, hence why a console is a toy. And most people regardless of the reason as to why they purchased a gaming rig do from time to time use at least MS word, or notepad.

And how can you do all the things that I listed on the consoles, even if I have the know how? I have a CFW PS3 and I can't program or edit graphics in it or design web pages, even when using other OS++.

Then you're saying that a DVD player is a toy. That an MP3 player is a toy. Just because it serves no practical purpose does not make it a toy. Besides, people who are investing in PC gaming rigs aren't generally using them for spreadsheets so that would make them just as much a toy by that logic. You can do all the things you're saying a PC can do on a console if you have the know how. Of course that would void your warranty and the like but consoles are really effectively just specific use PCs that aren't meant to be modified. You could call the games a console plays toys by strict definition but I wouldn't choose to do that either.

PC's are a professional tool, that allows programming, graphical and text editing, web design etc.. etc..

Consoles are just for gaming, with the added bonus of playing multimedia, i.e they are just for entertainment purposes with no professional use.

In short they are toys, electronic toys but still toys.

You can label video games as "toys" by the strictest definition but a console is an electronic media device the same as a PC, television, DVD player, MP3 player, etc. You also can't tie them to any one age group as the media produced for all consoles ranges from children to adult, same as with PCs.

no the case isnt worth that much but i got £1200 (which is what i paid for it brand new) of in store credit for my 3 year old machine they lost (actually worth about £500 compared to the specs of other systems atthe time it was lost) so i put the extra money in and got the best system they had in there

but i know when i build my next system for star citizen im going to keep the case from this because it does looks nice

Hah, I wish, I still use the same case from 4 years ago, I just upgrade the internals.
