Evil Washington and the Power of the Wolf - AC III: The Tyranny Of King Washington DLC
Ever wondered what an evil George Washington would look like? Or are you just keen to see more? Join us as we take an exclusive look at the first DLC for Assassin's Creed III.
I've got to say I thought this DLC totally SUCKED! 2 hours gameplay? Try 45 minutes! I'm a long time fan of the AC franchise and I can honestly say AC3 is the first game where the multiplayer completely knocks the single player campaign out of the park.
And for those of you that don't think Ubisoft isn't cash grabbing with this lame DLC crap consider this - I preordered this from Gamestop, all well and good and I knew I'd be getting a couple of extras for that (Captain Kidds sword mission and something else, can't remember - think it was some naval missions). I also purchased the Season Pass as I was excited about the DLC content and was really getting in to the multiplayer so it gave me the Battle Hardened Pack. So - first DLC for Season Pass is released on December 11 and GUESS WHAT?! It's called 'Hidden Secrets' and consists of - wait for it - the same stuff I already got for free because I PRE-ORDERED the game! WTF!!!
Add to that this latest DLC and color me exrtremely disappointed with Ubisoft! I mean seriously - that's some nerve to release a DLC that's already got the same content that people received who preordered right - and there was NO warning when purchasing the DLC that you were getting the same content.
The second and third parts of this Tyranny DLC better be a whole lot better than The Infamy otherwise Ubisoft won't be getting my money for AC4.
Sorry for the rant but man, they seriously dropped the ball on this one!
Ubisoft is just trying to cash in and throwing out all sorts of stupid shit now!. People arguing that games can be a source of learning and educational then I see this nonsense, "what if" twist on history. Enjoy kids.
Honestly, I was looking forward to this DLC till now. Im an American, and a history buff, however im not upset at Wasington's character ( I have thrown away any connection of AC to actual history at the end of AC 1). What I am upset at is the story in general. The fact it's just connor's imagination, or an alternate reality within an alternate reality is just too much.. The cloaking witll also take away the challenging parts of stealth in AC. Now you can simply turn on your cloaking ability, run up to your target, and press a button, kind of sad.. To those who say "you dont need to use the cloak," I say this, do you really thing ubisoft will give you this ability and not expect you to use it? I bet there are even missions where you must use your cloaking ability to successfully finish it.
Long gone are the days you will see ingenious human ingenuity of our AC protagonist to overcome difficult tasks. It's only magical superman powers from here on out.
All 3 Chapters of the DLC are about The Tyranny of King Washington.
Chapter 1: The Infamy
Chapter 2: The Betrayal
Chapter 3: The Redemption
So there won't be a Lincoln or anything like that. They are all parts to the same story
Okay the invisibility is quite cool but the idea should only work if its an artifact of Eden cus then it makes sense as to why he's able to turn invisible. And how is his mom alive??? I'm guessing they are going to make him dream all of this and u find out at the end that it was just a dream but if its not then I will prepare for a mind explosion
but having invisibility just doesn’t tickle my fancy.
doesn’t that kind of defeat the purpose of what these games are about?
I really find the idea of Washington being a bad guy pretty damn imaginative ...gotta say I've never seen it done before ...as for it being "blatantly disrespectful "..it's a game..set in an alternative universe and story line ...but to each their own ..
OK IT WAS A VERY VERY GOOD GAME BUT ENOUGH. DLC AND DLC AND DLC F........K THAT IF YOU WANT TO MAKE AN HONEST THE GOD GAME DO IT. DON'T F. K US UP WITH DLC'S ALL THE TIME ENOUGH WITH THE PROFIT. WE ARE ALL GETTING TIRED WITH THIS FOOLISHNESS !
1 out of 3 parts to this? fuck that! I didn't buy the goddamn season pass and get suckered into it just to have one part be released one day then wait weeks and weeks later for the next 2. We all want it bundled together all at once. Power of the Wolf? Really? Really? Ubisoft, you better get your shit together for AC 4 because it feels like you guys shit on your hands and tried smearing it on this disc and calling THIS a DLC. Still doesn't sit well with me that I'm an American and take some offense to some blatant disrespect to Washington, our first president. And all other trolls, know your role and shut your mouth.
If connor's wolf/bear/eagle outfit is not availible to wear in the main story, there is a serious problem.
Ubisoft basically had to make this expansion to satiate the angry Brits who were livid that AC3 made them and their behavior in the colonies look as villainous as it truly was.
Just a little confused with the story. This is an alternate history type of deal in which Conner's village never burned and he never did the stuff in Ass-creed 3?? And yet the Patriots defeated the British without Conner's help?
@Devlin88 Lol there is a good 80 year difference between washington and lincoln. Why would you ever think lincoln would be in this AC? Connor would be like 100 year old. At that point, your looking at a completely different protagonist
@mpoverege If you don't like me telling you to suck your own knob, then don't read it. Simple!
@NovahJCMP his mom is alive because it's an alternative reality bro
@nick-nikol DLC is genuine content too, but if you think the quality/quantity vs price ratio is off then just don't get it and wait for the next installment. However there are plenty of people who like DLC/expansions.
This is actually a rather good example of how DLC could work, like the Zombie DLC for Red Dead Redemption it allows devs to go grazy with an idea. If consumers dont like it then not all is lost because DLC isnt as big of an investment as a full game.
In that regards I think DLC is actually helping developers innovate. They (and their publishers) feel less restricted when developing DLC. When creating a full game the development, publishing and promotion costs are huge. So publishers dont allow ideas that differentiate too much from the norm.
But to each their own, just dont think you're speaking for all of us when you say 'we are getitng tired'!
@DragonbornBoy86 So what, Im British and did not like the portrayal of the red coats inn this game.......however its just a game so i did not feel the need to come on here and whine about it unlike you.
@DragonbornBoy86 I realise it's frustrating to buy something thinking it was something else, but the thing you paid for is the one that drip-feeds you the DLC in pieces. That's what "Season Pass" means: access to the full range of extras released over a period of time. Maybe you missed the anger when the industry started using season passes a few years ago.
I didn't buy Ubi's AC3 pass, because I don't play the multiplayer and I didn't want to get the SP in bits, so I'll wait for a Steam sale on the TOKW dlc or a sale on the deluxe version of the game with all the stuff included. If I pick the right moment I'll get it for a fraction of the cost.
@DragonbornBoy86 dude...A. It's not 3 parts...there will be 3 different stories. That's all. Power of the Wolf? Why not? this is an alternate reality and a video game. And finally, again man, it's an alternate reality. There are comics that depict Superman as a Communist hero as his pod landed in Russia. They made a movie called Lincoln the Vampire Slayer. Don't take it so seriously. The Rock himself would call you a Jabroni
@AZRI_456 alternatiuve reality!
@timoteo2k1 You have a warped idea of how long it takes to make games, and how likely a company would be to do so merely to satisfy a minority of players in a country that's barely a blip on Ubisoft's radar. This was the real single player DLC from the beginning, and those minor scraps scattered in the special editions were just pared off.
@timoteo2k1 As a Brit I was very happy with the grounded portrayal of the American founding fathers and the American War of Independence. This actually annoys me a bit more as by saying the alternate George Washington was pure Evil it implies the real one was some sort of saint.
@timoteo2k1 Manifest Destiny. Look it up.
@timoteo2k1 Oh yeah, because the Americans were painted to be lovable heros.
Please ignore all the mentions of George Washington being a racist slave owner, for example.
@ziproy It's Assassin's Creed. The answer is, and ALWAYS is, "HE DO'D IT W/ A MAGICAL MACGUFFIN OF EDEN!"
...started as a joke about overused plot devices in the AC series until I noticed Washington's golden glow staff around the 26 second mark. Ubi never fails to disappoint :D
@ziproy this has me puzzled as well
@DoubleclickTF @DragonbornBoy86 I was unaware that I was getting this for free because of the Season Pass, I thought it was just get a certain % off of DLC. But I love how I got all this shit for free now, and not all Season Passes from what I can tell will give you free shit. I am well aware of the gaming industry' tactics on things. I worked at Gamestop briefly enough to know it's very cut-throat and sketchy. We all buy into it though because we are mindless sheep. The day that DLC as an idea ends, I will rejoice proudly in the fact and well hope that video games will not screw you out of content that was already on the disc in the first place.
@jburulcich Don't forget Jesus Christ Vampire Slayer! Another classic piece of American cinema.
