We've had our top GameSpot scientists looking into Deus Ex: Human Revolution and whether it could work in real life, from Jensen's augmented limbs to the Icarus landing system.

Nice video. Deus Ex is definitely one to consider for GotY.

It's ok. Not as good as mass effect or Fallout 3. But ok, given the flash and hype of the trailers and marketing.

The funnies part was the slap sound in the Alien scene. Cracked me up.

@KenTWOu Oh, i haven't played through it. That is weird though, i remember walking very close to the enemies in crysis 2 and they never noticed my shadow while i was invisible.

I want to see the video when this guy miss a line or something :D

meh. thought this might be whether or not the game 'works' which it doesn't. For such a highly rated game set in the future it seems devastatingly stuck in the late 90's. With it's small Kingpin comparable 'open-world-like' maps, it's sub-standard graphics, and confused mission objectives this game is only somewhat interesting given the recent gamespot controversy.

Interesting concept. I could see some similarities from deus ex to things that may come in the future

Now I want a DLC scenario with a spherical Jensen in a vacuum. Great vid, and one of the best SF games ever made. The story, the details, the ties to real world science, the research, the design, the gameplay and the graphics - easily GOTY.

a way too "childish" tone, in my opinion... augmentations are not just an assumption about the far future, they are happening (slowly) today... Apart from the "Icarus landing system", the rest seam as a pretty plausible scenario and the atmosphere of the whole game is just gripping (because it will probably become reality in a few years)... Then again, for a more "mature" look into the "augmentations" of today, you might wanna check out the "Eyeborg Documentary" from the devs of the game...

@ssvegeta555 - Not necessarily. Think about one way mirrors, where on one side you can only see the mirror reflection, but on the other side you can see through the mirror. Thus, since we can already manipulate light in different ways using one medium, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that a material could be created which would allow light to curve around it from one perspective, but pass light normally through from another perspective.

Square Enix has made a video about how are these prosthetics nowadays, it shows even a augmented reality suit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TW78wbN-WuU&feature=player_embedded Here is one of the best videos about a game here at GameSpot, very good work guys; it's very good to know those sci-fi advances are really being studied to improve the lives of those who lost a limb due to accidents or cancer. That is what humanity needs: to use technology in their favor, that is the only rational science.

best game this gen. there is NO game with the lvl design such as this. I really wonder how you pc gamers score it so low. True Deus ex 1 fans appreciate this game.

Still think E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy knocks this out of the water when compared with the original Deus Ex!

@EdibleFood If you upgrade your nano-suit, you don't cast shadows in Crysis 2.

You watch enough Discovery, you'll see a lot of people are already working on this sort of thing. Saw a bit about a guy developing tech that sends an image via a camera lens in glasses directly to the brain allowing him to see. It can also be used to send other images, data, even scan the terrain and act like a HUD.

The way this capsule is done reminds me of Brain Tong from Cnet (it's a copy paste pretty much, lol), but it's a good thing.

Augmentations, exoskeletons, nanobots, gene manipulation? Hell, make it simple...don't add hardware to the body; just graft the brain into a robot. Funny video...loved how he tried to Tenchu the orange.
