You guys do realize that multi-platform games looks terrible on ps3 because, it wasn't catered to the ps3's hardware which is the last gen most powerful console. If this game was made exclusively using ps3 hardware it would look visually closer to the ps4 version. Look, it isn't that graphically far apart from the ps4 version, now.
I found it kind of blurry on the PS3, but once the action gets going and you're having fun you don't really notice so much.
My friends are excited for this game, but none of them own a PS4, so it looks like I'll end up with the PS3 version.
Cross generation play would have been wonderful.
so I just downloaded the PS3 version, last day I could get it just to see how the graphics compare to what I've been playing the past few days.
difference is almost night and day.. I noticed it in games before, slight like in COD Ghosts, and more noticeable in FIFA 14, but Destiny beta was the final nail for me
I gotta admit PS4 is slightly better. If I had to give it a %...I'd say about 30% better. But the PS3 version is really good looking as well. The overall experience will be the same overall.
It's not bad at all, it just proves how long and improved can be a generation of consoles, I remember some old games like the first Infamous running on a PS3, it's unbelievable to see that this game:
And this game:
Are running in the same plataform, this is f*cking unbelievable.
I like that previous-gen console owners will still get the chance to play this game and that Bungie didn't take an it-can't-be-done attitude toward older consoles. Sure it can be done if you're intelligent about what the player has to sacrifice. This isn't like 2005 when Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter came out on the XBOX 360 and the XBOX / PS2. That was a travesty.
Even with the reduced visual fidelity, I'm sure PS3 gamers will enjoy Destiny every bit as much as PS4 gamers will.
Good to see that Activision's blank check to Bungie is paying off in spades. I have the beta on both PS4 and PS3. Outside of the horrible PS3 DS3 Controller (6 years of ownership and I still can't get over how that feels for shooters), these games look remarkably a like.
Even if the game is running at 1080p 30 FPS it looks better than some of the Next gen exclusives, like Killzone and Ryse.
It shows what a gifted art team can do.
I really want the OST for this game. Its a soundscape like no other.
I've been playing the Destiny beta on the PS4 and it's a good looking game, but it does very much just look like a game that you're running at a high res but wasn't built for high res - meaning it looks sharp, but sometimes too sharp in that it looks overly CG. Regardless there is a substantial difference in the way the two versions look in that you can clearly tell the PS4 is running at a higher resolution. However I could hope that they would have done more than just run the game at a higher resolution, the next gen consoles are capable of so much more than that.
I also have a few XB1's and I got a beta code coming for that as well - so I'll see how the two compare head to head. If it's close then I'll just get it for the XB1 since, like I said, I have a few of them around my house so if I buy digital and just pick up and play wherever.
Anyways I've enjoyed the beta. I wasn't really interested in the game but the beta sold me on it, assuming it lives up to being as big as promised. If just the lvl8 beta is only scratching the surface, this should be a hell of a huge epic game.
Getting Destiny for my 360. I know it will be much better on the X1 but my PC is my main gaming domain right now.
I always hate these things because watching it on a 4 by 4 inch computer feed compared to a big screen tv is totally ridiculous.
Weak ass 30 FPS and the PS4 graphics aren't even that good... I know the PS4 is capable of much more than this.
This game is way over hyped too... it's really not that much fun.
I do see some small differences but its nothing to get too excited about. Couldn't fault anybody for buying this on last gen.
All I see is the difference of one version demanding a subs fee in order to play and the other version doesn't; Guess which one I'm going with?
For those who are saying their is a slight different between the PS3 and PS4, you are clearly blind. The PS4 is without a doubt superior in quality to the PS3 system!
Another last gen game running at a higher resolution on the now current gen consoles... I know they wanna get the largest amount of people possible to buy their games, but COME ON....can't we get an exclusive NOW GEN engine?! Why do we have to suffer because someone doesn't want to replace their 10 year old box?
oh...I really hope this game doesn't suck. I'm not getting that good Halo type feeling this time...don't let me down Bungie :|
I got my first pair of glasses today and ps3 is me not wearing them and ps4 is me putting them on :p that's what this reminds me of. cant wait until games are just made for next gen.
Only thing I can see better on the PS4 is the DS4 lol I think they could have gave the PS4 more detail rendering vs PS3.
I'm playing on PS3 and the PS3 version is pretty decent, especially for a last gen game. The framerate is stable but the graphics looks blurrier and less sharp than the PS4 version.
The PS4 version makes the PS3 version look like cartoon graphics. Time to quit gaming on the PS3. It's been a pleasure dear PS3 but the PS4 beckons !!!!
So it is pretty clear that it is a last gen game that a slight spruce-up for current gen systems. Cross generational games are holding back progress.
I'm impressed with how much they've pulled out of the PS3, but it's not like the transition between 6th and 7th gen when 7th gen games took so much more advantage of the available resources that their 6th gen multiplatform counterparts were completely different games.
Here're the differences I noticed on the PS4 version:
- Higher resolution
- Possibly better anti-aliasing (I say possibly because the higher resolution could just make up for the lack of jaggies)
- Higher resolution textures and mipmaps
- Higher resolution shadows
- Higher frame rate
Don't do it man, tell your friends it's time to upgrade, that's what I tell mine.
Playing on the PS4 first then trying it on the PS3 for the sake of friends felt like a serious downgrade.
@Echelon730 Why would you want the OST? lol....... going to get pumped on it while driving to work? sounds exciting.
@mulder_000 PC will get this game soon enough if you're willing to wait.
@graham_cracka graphics aren't that great because its multiplat until they move away from that and build games from the ground up on ps4 or xbox1 software its not going to look that good
@graham_cracka "Fun" is subjective. The game is very good; that fact that you may like it or not is a completely different subject.
@cboye18 May god have pity on your Eyes then.
@fgjnfgh 1080 is better than 900p.
@dark_kartos Xbox has some life to it. Unlike the PS3.
See what I did there. i made a statement that many people will argue with. But I didnt provide any evidence.
@starjay009 Are you blind, the graphics look pretty much the same, the resolution is smaller for everything(shadows, textures and etc), some textures are slightly lower quality on the ps3, but overall it looks pretty much the same, also consider that this was upscaled here, so the image will not look so blurry like in here.
And I have the PS4 version, it looks amazing, but it's not a reason to buy PS4 over PS3, for some exclusive games yeah, but not just for a slight graphical upgrade. On PC we can just upgrade a piece of our hardware for that, but you're buying a new rig, that has very small game base right now.
But if I would compare the PS4 version to any triple AAA title on PC, quality wise there is a slight aliasing going on on the PS4 version.
@starjay009 your really blowing it way out of left field the differences are hardly noticeable and frankly the ps3 is still my console over ps4. So far not impressed with the whole nextgen and I think they should have waited a year. They look nearly the same except a few res and texture differences just like the other games compared before it.
consoles have been doing that for a long time now
The framerate is 30FPS on both.
@DeusGladiorum It's a cross gen game. It's to be expected. See Asassins Creed Unity or batman Arkham Knight for full next gen games.
Your blind, its very...very...noticeable. I played the beta, I looked at all the vids, it is indeed very noticeable, infact, my PS3 is nearly 9 years old now. It just broke down today, probably from playing Destiny. May have been too much for the processor which I had fixed last year. Im sorry but anyone who thinks the graphics comparison is not noticeable needs their eyes checked.
