Oh wow! Where has this been?! I love these. I am surprised I just now saw these, well not too surprised...but I used to pay for ign subscription just for this type, and their tv commercials too, from Japan. It's a passion. I bought this game recently and do enjoy it. Besides the weapons/accessory, and enemies, everything else is a game of its own. Considering you see this as a Lost Planet game. Everything is easy to navigate, and if can understand some Japanese, so many scenes we're understandable. Reading peoples names and all, were easy. I'd recommend this to anyone of anime and manga fans, as this is a high appeal to that taste. Beautiful cell shade game, it's a shame it won't be coming to the West. I don't agree it's too Japanese-y, as that is the main appeal for its purchase here. (Hint, jrpgs). Games like these I wish Sony had an import dl section for ps3 games. Maybe on the ps4? Hmm...
I finished this game SP campaign on my 3ds. I am an Asian and from Hong Kong.
The graphic is very nice if you like Valkyria Chronicles and Borderlands.
Its gameplay is action-packed more than merely shooting.
There is also leveling-up system that helps you build up your characters.
It's strange that Kevin didn't mention the animation was by Studio Ghibli. That's a definite highlight for me.
Its Lost Planet without the mechs mixed with Borderlands graphics... I have Lost Planet and Borderlands and they are A LOT more fun. No thank you Capcom.
Saw the cover picture for this article and immediately thought of Haruko Haruhara from FLCL. Oh well
I always like seeing the games I would have to buy an extra console for or would otherwise be a total inconvenience to acquire if not downright impossible, and they are usually the better than what we have to choose from...Thanks for making me hate my life!
Yo, This show is a real good idea man. I find it interesting to gain some insight on japanese games. This makes me feel like a I would actually consider importing some obscure japanese games.
I think like this type of art design for Japanese games. cell shaded and bright, yet more or less correct anatomical proportions. Also it's Sci-Fi, which the Japanese do pretty well in their own way. A 60 hour RPG with interesting story and characters, and designed in this type of Art style would be great. Or maybe I've missed a lot of Sci-Fi JRPG's with this art style. Only one I can think of so far is the Xenosaga series and I still regret not playing that yet.
Uh! What happen to the video picture? I can hear the two talking but where's the gameplay? This is no laughing matter when it comes to see whether the video works properly or not.
On second thoughts, never mind what I said earlier. I'm just being goofy.
When will asia grow up and make serious games instead of these childish shitty game's.
They have a lot of potential but i have to put up with those rediculous joke's that are NOT funny. And the art, come on man even the nitendo looked better.
Its not just this game but nearly every other asian game out there. I hope 1 day they will grow up and finaly make a mature game
@Waynespread wait...but you just said lp and bl are more fun than this...did you forget that you haven't played it and therefore have no basis to comment?
@Waynespread Oh wow, you tried it?
I have all the Xenosaga games. The plotline is a bit convoluted, but the characters are what really drives the games. When I played and completed them, it was an awesome experience.
We are talking about the old NES right? Cause if so I agree 110% C'mon whats the asian market thinking? Releasing a game thats gonna appeal to there market. How childish is that? They should grow up. I mean, the guys in this game look like sticks or something. They need big burly guys from the gears series in there games.
@DeKuip Asia makes mature games, they're just never released outside of its borders due to them being more adult than most world society is ready to accept into digital entertainment.
Oh, but you mean violence? Yeah, they do plenty of that too.
@DeKuip Its anime you fat idiot kakkerlak
@DeKuip The asian games have mature gameplay where you have to think to be able to achieve something.Western games on the other hand are so easy and childish gameplay wise that its insulting to any serious gamer.
@OmegaGear @DeKuip I'm not talking about the violence but the the graphics, childish dialogue and voice acting. Its like DB Z all over again. Laughing at a bold krillen for 4 episode if you know what i mean. And it's not just in animee games but all the game's that are released in Asia.
And it seems even more weird to me if you look at the biggest game in Asia is Starcraft. Or dragons dogma that was made by capcom, it looked western but the ridiculous dialogue just did not fit in with game. They should hire western writer's at least then it would not sound like a child's daycare.
