ArcheAge - Now Playing
Erick Tay gives us a fresh look at the new fantasy sandbox MMO - ArcheAge!

I can't believe they are charging 150$ to test this 3 year old Free to Play game....
This game is out and has been out in Korea for a very long time...
Now Trion has taken over a year just to localize it and thinks its cool to pull the old Carrot on a stick trick.
The only people falling for this are the greezy headed slobs (Trion fanboys) that think its mad smart to drop $150 on a 3 year old free to play game
Just so some of you know, there is a disparity between the marketing of this game in the North American and European regions and other regions elsewhere in the world.
In the North American and European region, the game's testing version has been placed behind a paywall, as mentioned above.
Supposedly, the game would be fine-tuned to fit this region, but this is a promise which has yet to be fulfilled.
I am really looking forward to this game. It willnot be a game for everyone (what game is) but it does appear to be for me.
I have been looking for a game to scratch the MMO itch. ESO certainly didn't do it, so I will try this. Hey why not? It will be F2P anyway.
ESO, probably most uninteresting MMO i tried to play. If you like thats fine, i seen plenty of games in a poor state that has players clinging and having fun regardless if they were swimming in the piss of the company that bailed on it pretty much on release. They make enough money from game+subs to make the money back, then turn it F2P for small constant profit.
ArcheAge looks really nice, worth playing F2P. Sadly I doubt its going to be to friendly to F2P players, making anyone interested having to pay a sub. Asking for a sub is fine, i just really hate all the clutter and pile of addition crap F2P still throws in your face, even with a sub there is probably going to be items that can only be purchased.
Ok, I am actually going to apologize for my below rants and explain why I made them. In short, I was getting sick and tired of the hate train against ESO from people that hadn't even played the game, a game I happen to love (along with many other people). I mean, just go to any ESO article here on Gamespot and you will see a bunch of vile comments. I also disagree with Gamespot's review score of ESO, but that is their right to review how they feel.
What is uncalled for is the random drive-by hate train that people have against ESO. I basically decided to do the rather immature thing and return the favor below against this game. That was also uncalled for.
I have now decided that I don't give a flying F what these idiots say about ESO. They can shove it.
As far as ArcheAge goes, it probably isn't for me, but I won't rule it out either. If it is truly free to play, I might at least give it an initial look. I also looked at Black Desert since someone mentioned that. The graphics look really good except for the horrible pop-in that occurs, but hopefully that will get fixed. Once again, probably not for me though as I thought Aion and Lineage 2 were horrible.
So this must be the game Gamestop is being paid off to promote after a total hack job on a great game like ESO. I thought it was Wildstar at first but I guess it's this game. Very dishonest Gamespot let me tell ya.
Notice that this is a "sponsored" event (that is why the story is still on the front page) - so money has changed hands. I guess it is safe to say that ArcheAge will get a higher "review" than ESO despite it being pay to win completely generic grind fest crap.
There's sites or streamers like on twitch.tv that give away keys to those who wanna play. Those founder packs are ridiculously overpriced! Omg I can't imagine paying over $80 - $130!
Try www.archeagebetakeys.com know some people who have gotten some keys from there!
I thought that this is just another run-of-the-mill MMORPG until I saw the lobster things jump onto the boat. :D (2:05:00)
Oh, good grief, those dance moves! XD (27:30)
How much time did Trion dudes put into those animations!?
ohhh common remove the stupid commercials from the live stream!!!! its annoying!!! im shearing internet with 7 more ppl!!! can you imagen how many times i lose connection and need to watch them!!!!
This game is a lot of fun. I've only played the russian version for a couple hours and was having a blast. I don't speak a lick of Russian so I had no clue what was going on but I was still having a lot of fun.
The physics alone are very impressive for an MMo. I mean even the plants move when you walk over them. Not to mention this was made with CryEngine 3 which is a top notch game engine. Same engine that was used to develop Crysis 3.
In the Russian version there's two underwear slots. There is an upper garment and lower garment underwear slot. I only played it for a couple minutes and it was like, huh, really?
Question: Have you guys already looked at the inventory slots? The underwear slot... that's a new one...
@Gelugon_baat So because I live in the USA, I can't play this game for free, right?
@bfeinberg Sure, they're covering this game for money. I expect any sponsored deals to give a fairly positive slant but paid reviews are an urban myth made up by butthurt fanboys so just drop it.
ESO has been scored pretty poorly by everybody so it won't take a lot to get a higher score than that.
@bfeinberg nope, it will get a higher review because its just in BETA and its already a much better game...level 31 atm...and on release it will be FREE to play
@Lord-Raziel Get addblock and stop whining
@dkeeney4093 @bfeinberg LOL, just in Beta!!! The game has been out for over a year already so yeah, I would sure hope it would be in better shape than a game that just released. Might want to get your facts straight before commenting. All the "Beta" is being used for is changing the walls of text you will be reading to English.
@BurningUp99 Poor people? dude your a fucking idiot, I would pay to play this game or any other game I like, money isn't the issue, EOS wasn't a real ES game period.
LOL this game is the new F2P fanboy game I see...the game for poor people that can't afford a real game like ESO. Aww well at least you have something I guess.
Oh yeah I forgot some people need pay-to-win too.
@bfeinberg @dkeeney4093 Dude you know nothing about how free to play mmo's work nowadays. This isn't some mobile phone "free" app, super gem destroyer bullshit pay to win like so many ignorant people like you like to think. There are plenty of truly free to play games out there, that give you 100% content, and like ArcheAge, some are changing how mmo's work. ESO doesn't suck because of some little bugs, it sucks because for an ELDER SCROLLS game, it's a boring, unoriginal, uninspired, repetitive and frustrating piece of shit. It's a disgrace to the TES series. Games like Black Desert, ArcheAge, etc. are changing the game, at no forced cost to the player. People put money into these games 90% of the time because they believe in the developers, and the quality of the game as is. They make purchases on aesthetics because it helps the immersion or just may be simply an impulse splurge, not because they NEED it to get further. Have fun wasting $15 a month on broken promises and shattered reputations. :)
If they can't make enough money selling vanity items what do you think they will sell next?. Expect those stat based equipment items real soon. If you are going to build a house, you will need a lot of real money since all the plots of land will go to the founders pack owners.
@dkeeney4093 By the way, it is taking Trion a very long time to change the Korean to English I would be worried. Seriously. Enjoy your $150 pay to win "free" game.
@dkeeney4093 They are changing it for English. That is some highly technical work that is going on there. In other words, most of the technical bugs have been addressed over the last year. I am sure this turd released in horribad shape when it first came out.
@bfeinberg @dkeeney4093 WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??? ESO has been released already...and this game is still in beta...??? yea IT BEEN out in Korea, but there adding and changing it for English .......BETA
