these japanes people sure know how to make up amazing stories like in this game and in anime that's why we love them, the game with the best story is without a doubt; this series
Kojima taught me the value of the humble box, why you shouldn't smoke and that bandanas can be worn anywhere at anytime....Hell, accidentally learned history too...
They should have a life size Metal Gear Rex in a museum =P
Short and sweet interview, Hideo Kojima is a really cool guy, I really like the Metal Gear universe him and his team made, shame Rising looks like a devil may cry type of game, not my thing.
yes hes a successful guy making a franchise that is well loved by many. But I wonder if he has used any of his talent to create any other games... Ive only heard of Metal Gear series and nothing else which is odd since I thought I was pretty well versed games oh well then again alot of over seas games don't come over to the us either so...
"and having the opportunity to talk about the composition and underlying themes is really something that I never imagined, I always hated that kind of thing"
Damn, I wish I knew people like that.
"interest in movies and novels affected the way he approaches game design"
You don’t say...wish he would go a make a bad movie instead of making us watch a video game.
But..you know I guess good job on Metal Gear Solid...
In my opinion, No one took the games into a completely new level that HIGH as Hideo did. Greatest game designer ever. My dream is to one day be able to make video games with that level of intricate storytelling ...
Don't know where to post this, but the Fumito Ueda video, which was published at the same time as this, gives me a 404 eror.
I'll admit that I do not admire every single game he has created. But I give him credit for developing the stealth genre to a much higher level, because before his contributions, there were only a few games that offered the thrill of espionage gameplay. Good work Kojima, you have much reason to be proud.
I've always wanted to see what Hideo Kojima is like but never took the time to search for him on Google. He appears much more human and friendly than I imagined based on MGS. Thanks, GM and GS!
Finally some Gamemasters who did good games. Where's Shinji Mikami? Tim Schaffer? Hideki Kamiya? At least Kojima ad Ico creator arrived here. I'm glad to hear Kojima's opinion. Some talentless studios have much to learn from him.
@Johny_47 Thats the point of Rising- to be a 3rd person action/adventure hack and slash.
@BlackBaldwinI'm afraid you are the only person who has only heard him making MGS games...sigh
@BlackBaldwin He made the zone of the enders games, and some adventure games in the late 80s to mid 90's he's been in the industry a long time.
@Deadly_Nemesis You are about as dumb as humans can get. If you dont like Metal Gear, fine, but don't insenuate that the franchise is bad, or that any of the games were. Its as simple as this- respect.
He has worked in the industry longer than you were alive(probably), and has made one of the longest running videogame series EVER. You may not like the games, but show some respect.
@TheP-O-D Same as me. I'm glad there are others that love deep, thought provoking storylines.
@Kyrylo Tim Schafer's right here, he started off the whole thing! http://au.gamespot.com/features/game-masters-behind-the-talent-6384329/?page=2
