Definately worth a try
Many of the skills require extreme micromanagement in combat and its very satisfying to maximize your combat effectiveness. Playing a healer in this game is also very interesting, there is even a class called the disciple that relies on meleeing and performing specific attack chains to heal your group and basically rewards you for gameplay that might get you yelled at in any other game, this class alone is worth the price of the game imo. (This class can even feign death, an extremely powerful tool in the hands of a healer)
This game has ALOT of content. Every race has its own starting area with dozens of quests and areas to explore and the world is HUGE. You could make 12 characters and not run out of new quests and areas.
Unfortunately due to neglect by sony the endgame is dead in the water, new content is rarely released and when it is it relies heavily on grinding but the boss fights are extremely interesting and you'll definately have a lot to do until you hit the wall of the extreme high end.
If you are looking for a mmo to tide you over for awhile Vanguard is definately worth checking out.
Unfortunately pvp has been completely phased out so that is no longer an option, which is too bad as the ffa pvp server was one of the best pvp experiences I've seen since the glory days of UO and EQ's rz server.
If you are looking for something with an oldschool feel to it, VanguardSOH will not disapoint.
