WHAT KIND OF RPG IS THIS SUPPOSE TO BE? WHERE'S THE DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM? THIS IS AN RPG GAME, RIGHT?
GRAPHICS
=========
OKay, the artwork is very nice, the monsters are very neat and the 3D backgrounds are very detailed. But what is up with using 2D sprites on a 3D background? I feel like I am playing Paper Mario all over again. This is not an impressive idea on how to make good graphics.
CONTROL
=========
This is really where I start to pick it. Even with the instruction manual, I had the hardest time trying to figure out what it is you can and cannot do. Not only that, I have been trying to figure out where the "Character Development" part comes into play. The only "development" I saw was when you completed a quest, you gained a new Level of skills, and that's all. Worse than that, most of the weapons you buy have a very limited use. It's like you have to buy several weapons just to meet the demand of 1 quest, so you don't lose your skills. Since some of your other skills were also dependent on your weapon, if the weapon stopped working, so did the skill. This also included your armor and shield. Only a few select weapons had unlimited use, and even then they did very little damage during combat. What I also hated was that you were also limited to the amount of items the game gave you when you went to a shop. Once something was bought, it was bought and that was it. And don't get me started with the traveling system. It's like I am playing a board game of some kind, (Ex. BAM, you set off a trap, roll the dice to see if you avoid the trap....You take 1,500 points) Yes, that is EXACTLY how it works. When a trap is triggered, you get this slot machine like animation to come up and you either hit or miss on the trap. I think the most confusing part is the battle system. Yeah, you can attack monsters and they attack you, that's simple enough right? WRONG!!! You get to pick and choose who is attacking, what you attack with, and you have 5 attack slots to use per combat turn, all done using a roulette kind of combat system. Okay, the idea of making a combo system seems cool, but I don't really see the point to it. It just makes the game more like a board game than an RPG.
OVERALL
========
I could say a lot more, but this is as far as I will go for a review. There are just too many things wrong with this game that I can't express enough about what is wrong to get you to understand this game. No matter how hard I try to understand it, it just comes up as "What the hell...". Trust me when I say, do not buy this game at all. It is a complete waist of money and resources.
