Getting by on dialogue, outstanding presentation and pacing, this is a blockbuster experience you don't want to miss.

User Rating: 8 | Uncharted: Drake's Fortune PS3
Uncharted is a clever adventure through the life of a treasure hunter, with a plot dense and witty enough to satisfy, it is definitely an experience for action-junkies, who do not mind an emphasis on broken set-pieces and firefights.

The presentation in this game is flawless, and top-notch. From the way it masterfully blends cutscenes and gameplay, it ultimitely doesn't stray to impress at any given moment. Following Nathan Drake, a descendant of the renowned pirate Sir Francis Drake, the game boasts a common, albeit well-done plot. Searching for the famed treasure of El Derado, Drake's journey takes him to a fictional island. It is here where the game spends most of its time, and present most of its twist and mysteries.

The Graphics are nothing short of impressive, and feature a wide array of plentiful and beautiful enviroments that never let up. Technically, one of the best on consoles. Framerate is solid and smooth, and the action and animation is absolutely top notch

The gameplay is where Uncharted fails to live up to the rest of the game's near flawless presentation. A mixture of third person shooting and platforming, the game is designed to be paced at a relatively smooth and quick rate; however, most firefights in the game have potential to leave the player in a state of frustration, as enemies will often go half a clip of AK-47 without dying. At times, the mechanics of the firefights, and cover feel broken and poorly optimized. This combined with the almost fully accurate aim of your enemies, and you are in for a difficult time.

Platforming is, on the contrary, more well-designed and presented, and it is through these sections, that the animations and subtle intricancies leave you satisfied. The pacing and mixture of the two, leave you very forgiving of the more frustrating firefights.

Ultimitely, giving full credit to the presentation of the material, the sheer amount of effort, and the fully satisfying plot and dialogue, Uncharted comes together as an experience that is worth going through, and in the 8 hours you spend getting through the game, as you look back, you will forgive the inconsitencies of the gameplay, and praise the time well spent.
