Ultima I: The First Age of Darkness is the first in the legendary Ultima series. It is one of the most successful computer RPGs in that early PC age. It being one of the earliest CRPGs some aspects of the game are pretty generic like the basic story premise (you are the good guy, kill the evil wizard bad guy). However, there is actually a lot in this early-mid 80's game. During Ultima I you'll experience a surprisingly large variety of gameplay (from overworld top-down battles to first-person dungeons to even a space fighting section). As my last sentence indicates this also isn't just standard fantasy affair there are sci-fi and time travel elements to the game. I give it a lot of credit for really trying a lot of different things and succeeding. That being said it is a product of its time, so sometimes it isn't all too clear where to go or what to do. While we have the help of internet guides today, that wasn't a thing back then and would have been a pain to fumble through. Overall, its a classic. If you love retro games this is worth checking out.
