First let me say that the ignite engine is a great step forward. The presentation is awesome and the characters look damn near real but unfortunately is falls way short in the game play aspect. With all the man hours they put into graphics they vastly over thought the game play aspect of the game. The submission system is the most frustrating aspect on this game. It's like putting your right hand on your stomach and moving it clock wise while putting your left hand on the top of your head and moving that counter clock-wise. For anyone that's ever tried that knows its hard as hell to do because our brains aren't wired that way. That's how the submission system is. You want me to move the right stick in four different directions while matching the left icon with my left hand and yet still move the right stick in the correct direction with my right hand because if you don't then you a just screwed the whole thing up and your left either failing miserably and or getting reversed. I tried submissions with the best submission specialist on the game and all it didn't was piss me off. Does any one else feel this way too or am i just a bumbling idiot that lacks some serious hand and eye coordination? Not only that but they added a 4 step process to the submission system which makes absolutely no kind of sense. Submissions can be quick and come from all directions. They simply fail horribly and it needs a serious overhaul. The striking is mildly average at best. Counter punches mean little to nothing at times and jabs seem to have the same effect as a uppercut which makes no sense. You can literally hit a guy 15 times with hooks and uppercuts and nothing happens but you get hit once and your out for the count. Also there are the phantom punches that you have to watch out for which will have you scratching your head in disgust. All in all its a very nice upgrade graphically but needs to be simplified in the submission game and polished up in the striking aspect as well in other areas that i won't get into.
