Old, yet popular. A perfect mix of a funny & intelligent adventure with unique suiting environment.

User Rating: 9.5 | Twinsen's Odyssey PC
Old game yet still popular. Doesn't that say enough? It's best known for its strong unique personality. It's something similar to RPG-s or action adventure genres, but the entire environment of the game makes it different than any other.

Its very appearance and type of camera-coordination gives you a unique view of its virtual world. The view is clear and wide so it's really easy to coordinate yourself. Unlike many smashing action-filled blood-thirsty games nowadays, this one is quite suiting and suggests fun creative battles over hardcore violence, though it's not so childish since the plot is serious and it's filled with sarcastic criticism towards the world which only adults understand. The characters, the features and the flow of the game are a perfect mixture of 'funny' and 'intelligent'. And the funny characters are practically the soul of the game.

Playing the game is a piece of cake. You're free to run through the world of LBA and do numerous fun things: Fighting bad-guys, talking with anyone, revealing tons of secret items & passages, and ultimately you can sometimes do your everyday deeds (e.g. eating). LBA is an adventure, a very long one, since you explore many areas and islands on your planet Twinsun (and planet Zeelich). You can pass through your neighbourhood, buildings, or you can get yourself lost in secret temples, caves, deserts, sewers, or break in highly guarded places of your enemies. It's also an action game, since you fight a whole bunch of armies and monsters or you can even pick a fight with your neighbour. Like all RPG-s, this game has unique weapons & accessories which you collect and use. Funny thing is that you'll see something amusing on your every step e.g. sausage-shaped aliens, items popping out from things you touch, weird buildings or situations, the way people walk, talk or act (which is a parody on everyday life) and so on. So LBA is unbelievably based on even the tiniest details. One might even choose having fun with these features rather then completing the long game.

The story is epic and very complex; it's the key to the game! Fans and critics consider it high quality, for it mentions: political issues, war, religious voyages, science and magic, love odysseys, and even everyday-life stories of each character. The main story takes place on planet Twinsun. The 1st sequel (Relentless) starts as a tyrant Doc. Funfrock mastered the art of 'cloning' and 'teleporting' thus he rules over the planet. All he needs now is the planet's soul within its core which would give him god-like powers. It's up to Twinsen (the so-called "chosen one"), to stop him and restore love, justice and prosperity once again. Twinsen starts off as a rebel travelling through his entire planet. He often gets locked up in jails by Funfrock's clone army, but eventually escapes. After numerous wars and mystic quests, he finally destroys Funfrock's reign with other rebels, and is considered a planet's hero. The 2nd sequel is about aliens coming to their planet, whose hidden intentions are to destroy it, as a sacrifice for their suspicious god "Dark monk". They are led by the crazy "Emperor", though they play naïve at first. The story gets more intense as you play. And there are smaller stories you'll be a part of, like treating your ill pet, saving your kidnapped friends, assisting wizards within vanquishing a mystical storm etc.

An important part, often ignored in critics, is the background music which could be considered a masterpiece. It incredibly grants life and personality to the game. In two words, the music is rich and melodic.

So it's not merely an ordinary game, you could say it's an entire virtual world, which can easily make you addicted to playing, especially if you're bored of hardcore stereo-types and need a game that will rejuvinate your gaming-passion.
