what is the problem with everyone who plays this game?

User Rating: 9 | Transformers: War for Cybertron PS3
Let me begin by saying that I was never a fan boy of the G1 transformers series. I never watched it as I was born in 84, and I had no older siblings or friends who were into it. I did however make it in time for beast wars (which I loved and own all of) and I had a nostalgic respect for the source material (G1 transformers).

I thought Transformers: war for cybertron was an extremely easy game. I played it on hard difficulty right from the start, and even though some levels game me trouble and took more then a few tries to beat on solo, I still finished it. After reading some of the complaints that the game has, I decided to write a review of my own to counter them.

One major complain is the lack of ammo. This complain I find hard to believe, on the context that I played on hard mode which increases the life and AI abilities of the enemies. I never ran out of ammo, so I find it hard to believe that other people did, unless they are blind. One of the levels that I had trouble with (more then 10 tries solos in campaign mode) was the level were Ratchet is repairing omega supreme and you have to defend them both from waves of decepticons. On either side of Omega are to hanger doors to open, one contains 3 weapons and the other contains 3 types of grenades. The grenades also replenish so you basically have 6 sets of 3 grenades. There is also a turret on the middle bridge in front of omega prime, and a couple of the waves have big guys with big guns that are dropped for you. There are also two side hangers that lead to the top level of the bridge in front of omega, and they contain ammo crates and some guns and an energon cube or two. Where is the lack of ammo that everyone is talking about? Do they need a big sign telling them where it is, or do they need loads of it when they spawn so they don't have to think about multiple things at once?

The second complaint I find interesting is that the levels are too repetitive. Well; I don't know about you, but I found this game to be very similar to gears of war, and the level variation is very similar in many respects. But Gears never gets a bad score for repetitive game play? I would like to have someone explain to me what the gamespot reviewer was doing while reviewing this game? He's review is very "I was playing three games at once so I reviewed the first 3 levels of this game."

As for me, the main "fun" point is the multiplayer. The campaign is very fun and full of great cheesy lines from the eighty's, but the multiplayer is very entertaining. The fact that you have 4 distinctly different classes, with different skills and the ability to customize your robot to fit your preferred playing style is insanely fun. I read some people stating that the multiplayer is unbalanced, but they obviously try to play every character as a solder that walks up and smashes everything in its way. But some classes are subtle and meant for support roles to ensure a team victory, and if you can't understand that, then you suck at gaming/or this game (or use it to show how bad ass you are to a bunch of strangers). Either way, this game is fun and if anything, it's worth a rent to get the Hasbro approved pre G1 story line for transformers. The multi player is fun and contains more then any other first/third person shooter I have seen with unlockable abilities and the customizable robots.

Who doesn't like robots o.O?
