It's been a while since I've played a TW game. Does the AI still cheat brazenly? If I remember correctly, the AI players in TW games have never had to pay maintenance costs for military units. :(
@steve4123456789 ok i never new that lol ive bought all dlc for every single total war game apart from napoleon total war ive never got around to buying it yet u have put me in the mood to buy it now and ive just bought it of steam:)
I think the next game could be a 19th century version of Empire with the same or bigger world scale, with technology running from Napoleonic up to about WWI era. The expansion could be a focused US Civil War with an expanded map of the US, like they did with the UK in Viking Invasion. It's hard to imagine a WW2 or later Total War game most importantly because of the scale of battles. They were never two or more self contained armies meeting on a field, but entire national armies fighting across a broad front of hundreds of miles.
@ggregd If they could just re-do Empire with the current know-how they have on gun battles and all the AI improvement we saw on Napoleon and Shogun 2, less all those annoying bugs of original Empire, it would already be awesome.
@Nacho47 I don't think it's a matter of seeing if modern weapons work with the total war series, I think it's more of a matter of keeping it different. So many RTS's are based off of WWI, WWII, or modern era, the future, and the past. the only game really close to this game is civilization or age of empires, where you actually get that era mixing.
Get out of the Orient---don't want to learn completely different terms for diplomats,units,etc.etc. takes away from understanding of game.
i wonder if they will explore more with this new 3rd person view in the future, like taking control of a single unit with a sward and charging into battle with your army and then hacking and slashing your way through the enemy rather than just watching the battles all the time this looks amazing defo buying this.
This looks great and i think all they are doing with this is testing the waters and seeing if new modern technology works with the total war series (machine guns, new war ships etc) WWI total war is on its way im sure or WW2. I agree with other comments i would love to see China or the Egyptian history done by total war or even the Greeks. These folks have a ton of room to work.
i see 3 great options for total war to explore: * WW1 * Rome 2 * Pre-Rome (egypt, greece, china spetially) but still, this one looks preety awesome. i think it will have me playing it for quite a long time
Pretty awesome looking the new 3rth person view, but i wont buy it. Like some guy said this game shouldnt have gotten gun and cannons, maybe time for something new and refreshing ? Like tanks or somthing, a good WW1/2 total war. Or even a warhammer 40k one :P
A total war game that takes place late 19th century like this one but on the same scale as empire. It could include the American Civil war, the unification of Germany and the Conquest of Africa. That would be pretty cool to me.
And a quick comment to those demanding rome: total war 2, as awesome as rome was I think we've had enough remakes of past games in the series, total war could work so well for so many time periods, various chinese and egyption wars to name just two examples. Do we really just have to retread the same few things again and again? :S
So we're heading back to empire total war basically? I have to say i loved empire but that wasnt why i bought shogun 2. I bought shogun 2 because it took the series back to it's roots and the simpler combat and well everything was refreshing after the steady rise in complexity. While playing shogun 2 I never found myself thinking "you know what this game is missing? Gun and cannon" ... So why are we going back to them? Japan has a lot more interesting war's that we could indulge in pre-gun powder
All I want to say is that this total war game looks awesome the port sieges battles and the ability to call navy strikes gives a lot more depht into the battlefield and the campaign, aside from that Rome 2 would be awesome no doubt about that, but a WWI total war could be awesome they only need to find a cool way to play trenchs battles and you could have tons of material to play with with bloody epic battles
Futuristic Total war ;) Err maybe not but i agree with everybody else whos saying it, Rome total war 2 would be brilliant :)
Honestly, I'd love a re-make of Empire:Total War. When I see this and think of the granduer of that game, I see a game made in heaven.
WW2 combat is not conducive to the style of gameplay Total War is famous for, same with WW1, The Civil War however would fit perfectly with it.
eKriZZLe WWII is cool, allright, but not for Total War. Have you ever played Company of Heroes? Or Hearts of Iron? Those are good WWII games. Total War is about epic battles. Even though the bloodiest battles in history happened in WWII, those were more like hell-like exterminations and less like epic man to man fights. That's why we all want a Rome 2. Or maybe ancient pre-roman civilizations. Could focus on greeks, with the whole Greece functioning like japan in Shogun 2. Or maybe more. But I want ancient war, again, those are my favorites.
To the people clamoring for Rome 2, I feel ya. The game was cool. I'd LOVE a version with this type of graphics. But even more than that....I want explosions, guns and railways! I also want them devoting everything they have to progressing to a modern era Total War game. In order to progress to that point, Creative needs to keep progressing later in the human timeline, one game at a time. What would you want...Total War: Rome 2 or Total War: WWII?
The Total War series just keeps getting better and better... Creative Assembly are way ahead of the game! Another piece of genius about to sit beside the rest of them on my game shelf ;)
This game is looks awsome! Best expansion I've ever seen in my life! But come on SEGA, you know that we really want ROME 2 TOTAL WAR!!!
There's a chance the next title will be something on the American Civil War. For one, the models used and mechanics are already worked out. But then again, there are only 2 sides. ...and DAFUQ is with the calling in of naval artillery strikes? Those weren't cannonballs coming down, and could ship mounted mortars really fire that far?
hm.. interesting how they would rather be creating a pretty big expansion for an existent game than developing a whole new title.
Seems like the samurai are in a huge disadvantage... they focus too much on exposing the imperial army and its improvements while the shogunate is left in the shadow.
