yeah like american in past, America is only populated by the native indians when the foreigner/westerner subjugated the america. Now look at united states land of the white and where is the native living there? you can't see them there because they are all on south america/mexico. You see don't think highly of your country westerner are thieft that is what they are good at.
what on Earth are u dweebs talking about here ??? the reason why the guy said it was primitive because it was right until 18th century. Japanese didnt invent those guns or industrial tools themselves they only got westernized from british mostly. up until then it was a medieval feudal place so they asked the help of the europeans and americans to help them get rid of the emperor and feudal system and asked for their technology so they can get industrialized themselves. they didnt make blueprints for gatling guns and cannons they just bought the technology from the westerners. something even most modern day japanese people dont know. they werent always making robots and high end electronics you know. westernization kick started them and propelled them like 5 centuries forward concerning technology. same goes for Korea and China. they were villages pretty much until 100 years ago. but when they got westernized their economy started booming too. u think they invented electricity and telephones for themselves ??? it was the europeans and americans who shared (read sold mainly) their tech to east asians so they both had benefits from it. so instead of bitching about it be thankful they did or you would still be fighting the shoguns power with swords and shurikens now like most african countries have tribes still do with their primitive weapons. and to that sextus idiot, speaking of black plague it was brought as a disease from asia so thats another bad thing that came from there after your idiocy. if i were you i would stfu before you actually get informed and read some real history instead of boasting yourself for no good reason at all really. peace out.
yes the samurai had been wipeout by guns and cannons but the spirit of the samurai will live forever untill the end of time
why the cowboy always be the good guy and the samurai, red indians, ninjas or aliens always be the badguys
"guess i found myself a new civil war" he forgot to say "YIPEE!" and that part at 01:00 the music was just not right. (not the sort of music you would listen to while watching samurai being mowed down by Gatling Guns) And the Japanese where anything but primitive!
@ Gryphes2K: If you read the history of the USofA you will find that when the Native population was subdued, the leaders came to believe in the doctrine of "Manifest Destiny". This was esp. true of Pres.Teddy Roosevelt (of Roughrider fame) where in they just kept pushing westward toward Asia. They realized that it was in their national interest to develope trade routes with Japan so helping them "come into the 20th century" was the way to go. Similarly, they almost exterminated the Philipinos until that country formally surrendered as the Americans wanted to build a military presence in the region with naval stations. It wasn't about oil but of imperialism.
I am wondering why US helped Japan for improving their technolgoy. what's the catch actually? because we see nowadays they made the same statement for saving the Libyan people but all they've done help rebels to destroy the nation while they steal the oil.
@sextus1 Relax moron! It's a game! There was a time we saw black people as savages! So what....if they make a "Civil War Total War" you're gonna be offended if they show a "Rebel Flag" or if they talk about slavery? Give it a rest dude! Stop crying about history!
@sextus1 dude calm down consider the game. its a historical RTS game. key point HISTORICAL which means that the opinions and bias of people living during that era and not at the same standard that they are today and yes american were aggorant about the japessen but thats no reason to get mad about it cause its within our history and making a game historically accurate is important for the total war series and that was a general bias the "westerized" countries had about the rest of the world during this time. man idk what else to say
you know i think the next total war should be like a WW2 era one. i love all the total wars i probally spend way too much time playing them but i think a more modern one would be so awsome. like units of tanks and infintry. Maybe a WWI era one cause that would be a little simplier and there are similities to Empire total War but with alot of tech increases. i would love that. aircraft could be based at certain places and then you could like call them in like a power or something i just think it would be cool causse the engine for the battles is just so freaking awsome that it would be an epic game
@sextus1 jeez dude you can stop raging remember this was the 1800's nobody knew anything about anybody really so you can calm down
Give us some thing new. I am tied of open and siege battles. I want to see more complex city building and economy.
"Not as primitive a country as I thought it to be"???? Lordy, the Japanese had more culture in their society while the Europeans were dying in the streets from the Black Plague and the first American settlers were being wasted by malnuitrion and disease. I get enough of a daily dose of American arrogance from watching CNN for roughly 5 minutes (all I can take) without having to get a rebound slap from a game. I will sit this one out and wait for Rome-2.
@ Scorpion1813 That's why you should play as the Samurai and teach those Americans who's boss. They'll think twice before bringing guns to Japan!
So, it's essentially The Last Samurai. I play games like Shogun for the swords, spears and bows, not for the guns, grenades and bombs.
I'll (hoepfully, if Will is strong) wait for the price drop in six months, and given the history of the "TW" titles by then the 3 different Pre-order DLC will be released for sale as well. Just too strapped after Christmas Sales, though I really can't wait to play it. Ah, the agony.
So we can choose to play as the Samurai in this? I watched "Fall of the Samurai," and even though I'm an American, there's something oddly patriotic about a samurai riding into a wave of bullets with nothing but his primitive sword and horse. I'm going to kick those darn Americans back to the U.S.!
So far I havent liked any TW game that has heavy gunpowder units. My favs so far have been Rome: Total war, and its expansions. and Shogun 2: TW. It seems like this might ruin it for me. Le sad face :(
whenever I get this game, first thing I'm going to do is make a wannabe the last samurai last fight custom battle
@wassupconan You forgot to mention how they mass murdered the rebels.
