Total Overdose: A Gunslinger's Tale in Mexico is another GTA clone that tried to take off in it's own direction but didn't quite succeed. You play the twin brother of a government agent down in what is presented as Mexico yet seems like an American's version of Mexico had they never been there. As with any GTA clone you can roam the city freely, carjack anyone and cause massive chaos within the streets. Total Overdose however managed to rain on said parade.

You'll find the vehicles very unsatisfying and quite unpredictable at anything over a slow crawl. There are driving missions which are a task due to this fact, yet manageable with practice. The map isn't wide open but cut up into sections which kind of complicates things, you need to move from section to section and do the quests laid out among the large area so expect loading!

The story flows well as you progress, missions aren't impossible yet not freebies, as mentioned before driving missions are a task but can be done. There are many things to do, yet this game just seems like a large stereotype factory. There are weapons left about within the city to help you progress, though ammo seems in short supply. One thing not in short supply is the replays, you collect them doing different moves, etc making this game fairly simple to complete. Once you've died you use it and return 5 seconds before you died to rethink what just got you killed.

Given it's clunky driving mechanics, the strange take on Mexico and the sometimes too easy missions, this game should be checked out!!
