User Rating: 8.6 | Top Gear Rally SP GBA
This is the first time I have ever enjoyed a racing game on any Gameboy system and it's because it packs a lot of depth and features. The graphics look great with detailed cars and backrounds. The cars look like they are made using polygons, but I think they are actually detailed sprites. The courses look good with nice backrounds reflecting the scenery of each particular track and weather condition. This is definately the best looking racing game on GBA (F-Zero not included). The sound is good for a GBA game but nothing spectacular. The voice of your instructor is clear which helps you to hear what type of turn or hazard lies ahead. The music is forgettable but does the job. There are many different modes of play including practice, championship, time attack, and single checkpoint races. Many tracks and cars are available to unlock as well. You can customize each race by picking the right car with four color choices, tire type, break type, steering type, exhaust type, and gear ratio. All of these things really do change the way the car handles and will affect the outcome of the race. I love this game because you get to make changes to your car and getting to learn how to drive on the different terrains is fun and challenging. If you like racing games and have a GBA, I highly recommend picking up Top Gear Rally.
