Hard to control, but overall a great GBA game very similar to the console versions of the game.

User Rating: 7.3 | Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 GBA
Tony Hawk games have appeared on many consoles, but sadly they have been worse on Gameboy. Gameboy Color's Hawk games had good graphics, but were hard to cntrol and not all that fun. But 2001's THPS2 for Gameboy Advance has improved. It's like playing the Playstation's THPS2 in your hands.

Even though the characters are blocky and have no faces, the game still looks superb. The level designs look just as great as they did on the Nintendo 64 and Playstation, and the in game character designs are great. There is a different camera view though, it ismore of a corner bird's eye view than behind the skater view. Although I prefer the camera as it is in the console version, this isn't too much of a problem and still boasts some of the best graphics GBA has to offer to this day.

There aren't as many levels in the console versions, but most of the great levels are here. Hanger, School, Skatestreet, even a new level that takes place on the Boston Rooftops, and a level from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (the original)-the Warehouse. These levels are just as big and fun to explore as they were on Playstation and there is just as much tricks to, including the specials. Goals haven't been narrowed down either, there is still ten goals per level, and they are a bit harder this time. There are also unlockable levels, skaters, and cheat codes but it lacks all the videos and not enough unlockables as the Playstation version.

THPS2 for Gameboy Advance is also a lot harder to control. At first, the controls are really confusing and for me, it was like when I was trying to get my skater to turn left, he turns right and vice versa. Once I got used to the controls I didn't have many more problems with them.

There is not really too much for sound effects, and of course no voice acting, nor any real liscensed music tracks since this is a Gameboy Advance game not a Gamecube game but the song variety is nice, consisting of nearly twice as much tracks as in the Nintendo 64 version, yet not as many as the Playstation version consists of. Some of the tracks are pretty cool but others sound weird and are repetitive.
