User Rating: 9.3 | Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow XBOX
Pandora Tomorrow is an excellent game for anyone who enjoyed the first Splinter Cell. Though any newcomers who let the first one fly past just in case it didn't get the good reviews that everyone was raving about need to pick this one up. I had already played the first Splinter Cell and fell in love with it's gameplay and storyline and, of course, who can forget Sam Fisher's character. The first one was one of a kind in it's category because no other game had put you in the shoes of a secret operative that doesn't necessarily exist. Though Pandora Tomorrow relives that role as the sarcastic but serious Sam Fisher. Yet again you are looked upon when the world is in trouble and yet again you are all alone and disavowed. Now to continue with my review of this game i tend to hit upon the graphics, gameplay, and the mulitplayer. The following will criticize the graphics of the game which won't be very long at all. The graphics for Pandora Tomorrow really keep the same feel with a little tweaking then it's predecessor. Though the big flaw comes when you play the console version of this game and anybody who's hell bent on graphics is really going to get annoyed by this flaw. The flaw only attacks Sam Fisher's little green lights on his body when he's in dark areas. You'll tend to notice some little boxes around the green lights that reflect that the green light is shining into the night. Though that seems to be the only flaw, graphic wise, when playing this game so a big thumbs up goes to the Ubi Soft company that made this game along with DICE. Now the gameplay is somewhat the same, you still need to watch how far you lean that analog stick and the camera CAN get in the way some times. Granted the camera isn't much of a problem since you can move it but there will be times that you will need to move it but wont be able to because if you do you'll be trying to look through a wall you're hiding next to. The gameplay is the same as the graphics it only has one major flaw and thats the camera, which i just explained, so other then that the gameplay is really solid and i couldn't rate the gameplay a 10 for the fact that a 10 is perfect and the gameplay is not perfect. Now the multiplayer is, for lack of a better word, awesome. When you play the multiplayer you can really tell that Ubi Soft and DICE really put their heads together to make a great way to play online. The idea in itself is just brilliant and when you add in the XBox communicators it just makes the online experience even better because a voice tells a lot more then just some words on a monitor. As everyone should already know there are two sides, the spies (my personal favorite) and the mercs. Each side has it's pro's and con's and the sides are pretty well balanced, so nobody should fret when they start wondering who has the upper hand because NOBODY really has the upper hand. The spies have there little tricks which include a cool little Spy bullet which is basically a locator and a transimittor all in one. Though the Mercs have a motion sensor they can use. So all you really have to do is look in a solid open area and turn on the motion detector view and if anything moves it'll bring a night vision box around it and follow it. Though the only flaw to that is that if a spy crawled slow enough he could fool the motion detector into thinking he isn't there. The most impressive part of the whole multiplayer experience is the fact that the game is strictly team based so the only way anyone can hear the other team is if they are linked, and the only one capable of that are the spies. The spies can listen in on the mercs communications so any die hard mercs in the audience better watch out what they say for THEY could be listening. Also if a spy seems to snatch you from the shadows they are personally linked and the merc gets a chance, if the spy deems it necessary, to say a few last words before the spy either knocks them cold or shows them how a twisty-tie works using their head. All in all, this game is a must buy because even though the amount of missions are high up there the fact that the multiplayer creates another aspect of the game anybody who likes this genre really shouldn't pass it up. That's my review and good like all you spies out there and remember mercs...we're listening.
