The PS2 version of Chaos Theory is an incredible surpirse dont listen to the jaded critics

User Rating: 9.8 | Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory PS2

Initially I was wary of picking up the PS2 version of Splinter Cell:Chaos Theory not becuase I thought it would be a bad game but for the simple reason that Pandora Tomorrow was less than stellar on the PS2 the load times were intolerable and the graphics did not hold up when compared tho the Xbox version but thankfully this has all changed with the VERY IMPRESSIVE 3rd PS2 installment of the SC series.

YES THIS IS THE PS2 VERSION OF CHAOS THEORY mmmmmmm pretty

The original Splinter Cell was a great game wich advanced in many ways what Metal Gear began; the Stealth Genre of videogames wich can be a much more challenging and engrossing experience for adult gamers.

Chaos Theory comes even closer to perfecting the Stealth genre in that the conrols are spot-on and the animations are incredible and the graphics are near next-gen quality this is all the more impressive when taken into account that it is all running on the oldest of the current-gen hardware wich is the "never-say-never" PS2.

My first exposure to Splinter Cell was the original on Xbox and was I blown away by that game later on I gave the PS2 edition a try to check out all the extras it contained and thought it to be a competent port and yes I did try out the Gamecube version also but the god-awful controls really held me back.

Then came Pandora Tomorrow wich was initially going to be an online-only Splinter Cell game and was not developed by the Montreal team that created the original sure it was a good game on the Xbox but the PS2 port was uninpired and had incredibly long load times that really broke up the game and the Gamecube version was riddled with bugs.

Now comes Chaos Theory to save the day thank the gods!

Ubisoft Montreal (the team that created the original) had been working on a WHOLE NEW ENGINE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR THE PS2 for 3 years and man does it show with CT in everyway: the load times are much shorter and non-intrusive the graphics are some of the best on the PS2 (if not the best) and are very comparable to the Xbox and high-end PC versions also the animations are unsurpassed thus far on any current-gen machine and of course the game controls perfectly with the dual-shock 2 controller.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS GAME TO ANY AND ALL PS2 GAMERS.
