User Rating: 9.3 | Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3 XBOX
BaBOOM…. BaBoom….. Bbom… Bbom, Bbom, – the sound of my racing heart as I realize I’m the sole surviving member of the red team. I’m fully immersed in the world of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six 3. The sound, the graphics, the Xbox Live compatibility, the realism, and the gameplay come together to make Rainbow Six the best game on ANY system since Halo. If you are the hard core gamer you are rarely satisfied. Ghost Recon couldn’t keep my attention for 20 minutes. I thought Wolfenstein was cludgy and I played it for a day before returning it to Blockbuster. MechAssult was fun but lacked depth. Because of Rainbow Six, I won’t be buying another Xbox game for quite some time – or any game for that matter. This game is that good. There are enough multiplayer maps to keep us busy for months, and there are ridiculously cool people out there who play this game. There are statistics galore and overall rankings – the game even allows you to see how you are doing compared to your friends. Speaking of friends… the game has a quality about it that just attracts real conversation, cooperation and awe for those gamers who excel at terminating the other guy. There are flaws… grenade launchers allow for some cheapness because you can run full speed and aim just fine with a launcher, try and do the same with a normal gun and your area of fire shrinks to a tiny pinpoint (the person running a server can turn off grenade launchers). There are some lag & loading issues here and there, and you can’t jump – but overall these tiny issues don’t affect the lasting value of the game. Gamespot ratings are usually frustrating to fans but pretty spot on. This game, for whatever reason has gotten the shaft from Greg - truly disappointing. It makes absolutely NO sense that Panzer Dragoon Orta, MechAssult, and Freedom Fighters receive higher scores than this game… SHAME on you gamespot!
