great combat flight game

User Rating: 8.5 | Tom Clancy's HAWX PS3
Hawx on PS3 for the most part,is a fast paced atmospheric flight sim with great visuals and an interesting story

The Good: good scenary graphics, fantastic dogfights,3 good flight views, loads of planes and weapon packs, free flight lets you get accustomed to the flight style, enemy AI is realistic and fun, story is good for a flight sim, missions require tactics speed and risky manouvers.

The Bad: textures look ugly up close, assisstance off mode is awful, your team mates, while good for a chat are useless in the field, difficulty can spike occasionally,

Ill start by explaining assisstance mode, this is a choice between normal flight or a strange 3rd person view from a strange angle which the game tells you is easier for manouvers......its flippin well not! because of the silly angle you cant tell which way your facing or who your aiming at. This i'snt a complete disaster as most of the game is completable without assisstance mode off however you may find your self accidently turning it on when doing tight stunts as its activation is double tap of R1 or R2.

Other than that and the ugly up close details the rest of the game is great and the story is suprisingly cool for a cheap flight sim.The dogfights are fantastically fun when flipping about evading the enemy missile lock and locking your own,you will also find your self searching for radars with no mini map to help you, bombing rebel camps ,escorting fellow helicopters and fighters plus defending massive refineries.
This means plenty of variety in game play making you feel like a genuine valiant fighter pilot and your trusty TAC map does a great job of showing you where hostiles are, what type of vehicle their in and where their heading

The rest you best find out for yourself but for its bargain price of around £10 i rate it as a must buy for flying and non flying fans alike.
