Ubisoft and Red Storm almost got it right on this one, but not quite.

User Rating: 6.5 | Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm (w/Headset) PS2
Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm is another FPS. Its fairly intriguing, but not too terribly exciting. One major issue with this game is the fact that even though its a First Person Shooter, you can't see your gun! Moving along into the single player mode, you have 4 options when you select it: Training, Tactical Exercises, Campaign, and Quick Mission. If you select Training, you get 7 different missions, all telling you how to play the game and use the controls. In Tactical Exercises you preform little "Side-missions" ranging from Rescue to Anti Vehicle. Quick Mission lets you play any unlocked mission again. A cool feature about this is that you can select if you want it to be an all out firefight, rescue, or others.

The Campaign itself is fairly unique, though not as entertaining or exciting as it could be. You get 2 to choose from, Jungle Storm or Island Thunder. You also have three difficulties to choose from: Recruit, Veteran, or Elite. (Note that is is being rated on the default which is Veteran.) Each mission gives you some random objectives to do that really doesn't tie in with any sort of story. Now, when you select a mission you can choose 6 people to play as, there's never an assigned character. You have 4 classes to choose from, each of which has 2 weapons to choose from and a variation of secondary weapons to choose from:
Rifleman - Your standard assault man with an M16 or MP5SD
Support - The Heavy Assault character with an M249 SAW or M240
Sniper - Your Ghillie suit wearing sniper with an M24 or M98
Demo - Another assault character, except with demolitions. Carries an M4 or Z84
There are also "Specialists" with other capabilities.
Once you have you team assembled you can start playing. (Note that you CAN change your team any time outside of a mission). You can switch in between any of the six characters thought the mission as well.

This game will last a fairly long time in the campaign alone, but theres also even more missions in the Quick Mission selection. Now the graphics are nothing special and are actually sort of disappointing. So this game can be credited with some things, but doesn't really bring anything new to the table.

I like to rate using the traditional GameInformer style, to here is my summary:

Concept: Put yourself in the boots of an elite ghost soldier, and go around shooting people, who on the normal difficulty are not that bright..
Graphics: Fair. Some textures look bad even from far away, but the landscape itself is good.
Sound: It sound fairly realistic, but not the best rifle sounds I've ever heard in my life.
Playibility: The controls are normal and never gets awkward. Your typical R1 to shoot kinda thing.
Entertainment: You will probably be immersed in the game, though not like some, it does a pretty good job of drawing you in.
Replay Value: Moderate
