From such an odd title you might be wondering what to expect. This is what you you will get ....

User Rating: 7 | Tom and Jerry in House Trap PS
From the box cover to the game presentation it feels like Tom & Jerry all over and not some low budget generic product with the license slapped on. The graphics are top notch. The translation from a 2D cartoon to a 3D game went smooth. As for sound you will get all your basic slap stick cartoon effects and Tom & Jerry music.

The general goal is to beat up your opponent by four different ways. You can either throw something at him, bang him on the head with something, lay something on the ground for him to step on, or activate nearby house hold appliances to cause mischief. The something you use are house hold objects scattered around that you can pick up. They can be apples, umbrellas, soap, thumb tacks, lawn mower, etc.

The one player mode consists of 15 levels that can be completed within a day. 12 of the levels are the same old repetitive attack your opponent until his health is depleted. Every new level you open exposes a new area of the house and eventually you will be able to access all 3 floors and the backyard. 3 of the levels scattered in between change up the goal to add some variety.

One of the variety levels have you retrieving little ducklings before your opponent does. In this level if you're Jerry you're suppose to find the ducklings somewhere in the house and set them free in the backyard pond. Likewise, if you're Tom you're suppose to stick them in the oven. If your opponent gets it before you and you intercept him before he reaches his goal you can attack him to try and get him to fumble the duckling. The first to rescue or cook three ducklings out of five wins. The other two levels have the same mechanics but use a different scenario. There is no loss of health in these levels.

That is all there is to one player mode. The game play is limited but also spot on and easy to control. Probably the most likely reason to beat all the levels besides just betting them is to unlock them in the multi-player mode.

Rivaling a friend is the most fun you will get out of this game. This isn't a game you would sit down and play by your self for a couple of weeks. Because of the repetitive nature of the game it would be best enjoyed in short plays or as a "winner takes on" with a group of friends kind of ordeal.

All in all, if you don't have high expectations for this game like you would for a game that shows off your consoles true power there is an enjoyable experience awaiting. Seriously though, this is better off as a party game than a one player. The computer AI can't replace what friends do best. That is of course beating each other up slap stick styles in video games. You will get a solid Tom & Jerry presentation and fun times with your friends from this title.
