It has its flaws, but "Titanic: Adventure Out Of Time" is still something to behold.

The Titanic is a realm of mystery. That's probably why children are fascinated by it, scientists still theorize about it, and society still wonders about it, even a century after its sinking. But some of this mystery can be yours to explore in Titanic: Adventure Out Of Time, if one is willing to overlook its flaws.

The story is interesting enough: You are a British Secret Service agent whose failed mission on the Titanic may have caused two World Wars and a revolution. But a well-timed bomb explosion sends you flying back in time to your cabin on the doomed liner. You are then allowed to take up your mission again, to succeed and, hopefully, prevent disaster.

Your mission will take you across every twist and turn of the Titanic's massive interior, which has been masterfully re-created by a team that has obviously done their homework. If you've ever had any small desire to see what the Titanic might have looked like, this is the game for you. Every locale, from the dark boiler room to the lavish Turkish Bath, is beautifully rendered and, although the graphics are dated by today's standards, the ship is still marvelous to explore.

The flaws of this game, though, are sometimes a little off-putting. The myriad of people you will speak with on your mission are presented in the form of still photographs with moving mouths and hands. While this wasn't really a problem for me, many find this creepy and unsettling. What bothered me was their presentation when not in dialogue, as these "sock puppets" which creepily turn to stare at you. The animations are stocky and sometimes laughable. The puzzles aren't quite difficult or numerous enough, although the game relies more on exploration than puzzle-solving. This game is obviously dated, but the question is: are you willing to look past that?

If you are, then you are in for a treat, as Titanic: Adventure Out Of Time will transport you to a beautiful, doomed world that you will spend hours and hours enjoying. But don't spend too long ogling the sights, because time is running out...
