It has enough to make it an outstanding choice for a portable golf game.

After spending a weekend with the PSP version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour, I was much more impressed than I was after just the first few hours playing it. At first, I thought this was a very trimmed-down version of one of my favorite sports games ever, and I felt a bit of anger at having dropped $50 on a version that didn't have the bells and whistles of its earlier incarnations. I am happy to say, however, that whatever was not included in the PSP version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour for PSP either doesn't need to be there, or isn't a dealbreaker. In fact, the game has just enough of the little extras to which we are accustomed to make it a fine example of portable golf at its finest. The biggest concern of mine before playing was the game's control. If this version couldn't nail the traditionally tight controls of this series, it was going to be a bust, no matter what else the game had to offer. And the first few times I played, I have to admit, the controls bothered me. This was the first game I played that required heavy use of the analog disc, and it does take a bit of time to get accustomed to using it. Plus, at the outset, the golfer you create will not be a very accurate shot, so that added to the illusion of bad control. I say "illusion" because once you spend some time with the game, you will quickly find yourself at home, just as if you were playing on your TV. Other than fewer courses and fewer real golfers (a given, since the media holds less data), you are getting no less of a game than with any of the console versions. It plays almost exactly like it's "bigger" cousins, with the possible exception of putting. That skill still seems a bit off from other versions, but it should be nothing to hold back potential players from checking out this excellent golf title. The ability to save during a round is a lifesaver, and clinched the deal for this gamer. The "party" modes, which allow you to pass the PSP around with several friends to play together, is a good idea, and of course playing wirelessly is a blast. For golf on the go, Tiger Woods PGA Tour for PSP is an excellent choice!
